Dug's GUIDE TO FARMINGFollow

Nice idea, rate up ^^

Maybe you could add something about Jugner. You can kill Funguars there for sleepshrooms, and Tigers for teeth...maybe even the Orc Seargent who drops the castle plans.

Korroloka Tunnel

Gigas: Gigas Necklace, Gigas Socks, Maple Shield. There are 4 pops in main tunnel. To sell them just sit outside of Windurst and they'll go fast, or use the items to desynth.
Thunder Elemental: Pops on the path from Zerhum to Altepa.
Bogy: Cotton Cloth, Luminicloth. On north map there is a room of bogies. Be careful of Dame Blanche though, you will need a full level 60+ party to beat her.
Jelly: Slime Oil. They bleed them here.
Clippers: Land Crab Meat. Sell this in Windurst or Sandy AH by the stacks.

Dame Blanche is not that tough. i've been taking her down solo since 53 THF/NIN. she's not much harder than the bogy. Luminicloth drops from the bogy from what i've heard but of all the times farming there i've never seen one drop.

First Floor.
Shadow: Chest Key, Treasury Gold Ingot.
Ore Golems: Chest Key, Golem Shard, Mythril Ore.
Drones: Doll Shards.
Clockwork Pods: Eastern Pottery, Magic Pot Shard, Mercury, Zircon.
Revenant: Cotton Cloth, Linen Cloth.

i can take down the ore golems without a whole lot of trouble at 56 again with THF/NIN. you'll use probably 2-3 casts of utsusemi but if you are a goldsmith you'll make enough money to burn through shihei by craftning the ores into ingot stacks.

hehe, no one mentioned my secret spot. nope, I'm not telling. all I will say is that is usually empty, and the money is good.

Once I get 60, I'm gonna increase my strengh and attacj as much as possible, get 200 tp, and run through ghelsba with every orc behind me and circle blade them to death. I hope by then, circel blade will wipe them out with few survivors. Maybe not fast gil, but fun gil.

Sometimes I farm Delkfutt's Tower. I kill gigas for gil, and steal beastcoins from the gobs. If I'm lucky, I can steal 12 coins/hr, for 6k + 70*12 + countless gigas * 100. It comes to ~11k/hr not alot, but its easy and doesn't take up alot of inventory.

Jungar Forest is nice. Tigers, beetles, sheep, more tigers, fungars, fungars, even more fungars, leeches, oh, did I mention fungars and tigers? If you plan on killing sheep, bring some dark crystals, distilled water, and windy tea leaves to turn the skins into leather which stack. fungars drop different shrooms, and tigers drop the golden, well, black tiger fangs. all this = $$$

For farming, boost up on attack power. Faster kills = more kills/hr = more drops = more $$$. Don't wear alot of use gear pieces, take them off. So, you get hit for 10 damage instead of 7. big deal. have fun, don't over farm, be nice, and have more fun

La Theine Plateau
Battering Ram: Ram skins, Ram horns. With TH you can get 3-7 drops off one kill. Your inventory will fill very fast with these mobs. In La Theine there are 2 ram pops. The center radius for one is @ (H-9) in the low lands. The center radius for the other is @ (G-8) in the highlands. Pop time is 10 minutes.
Air Elemental: Wind Cluster. Four pop spots, but there are only two that I know about for sure and can confirm. These two are @ (H-10) (F-7). Given the location of these two, I'd say the elementals pop near any of the large gaping ravines.
http://ffxi.allakhazam.com/db/bestiary.html?fmob=132

Konschtat Highlands
Tremor Ram: Ram skins, Ram horns...same as above. In Konschtat there are also 2 ram pops. The center radius for one is @ (H-7) west of crag. The center radius for the other is @ (G-6) in the NW area. Pop time is 10 minutes.
Thunder Elemental: Two pops that mirror the Ram locations.
http://ffxi.allakhazam.com/db/bestiary.html?fmob=261

You forgot to mention a few important things about this.

1. Spawn time is fixed, spawn location is not.

2. Rams are perma-camped by RNG/THFs and THF/RNGs with mid level leathercrafting (rams are these player's main source of income) If you aren't one of the above you will not be able to claim them unless they aren't there (i.e. almost never)

3. There is an NM and HNM ram in each zone, and this can be potentially dangerous. In La Theine Plateau you have Lumbering Lambert (lvl 30ish NM) and Bloodtear Baldurf (60ish HNM, he will kick your *** solo even if you're lvl 70 and you can't get away because he will tractor your *** back if you try to run. He also spams Mighty Strikes and has an uber version of Great Bleat that will reduce your max HP to around 150). In Konschtat Highlands you have Rampaging Ram (same as Lambert) and Steelfleece Baldarich (same as Bloodtear) The NM and HNM's only pop on the lower spawn radius on both zones, never the upper ones.

Northern Furs go for maybe 1-2k on the AH. There is a repeatable in Norg for them for 1400 each i think tho.

Carpenters Landing: 30-50 (Maybe)
Tigers, funguar, beetles, flytraps, orcs, and theres Logging Points that CAN Produce Elm and Oak logs. The level depends on what zone you hit, and I'm unsure as to what is what.

One side has Forest Tigers
While another has Sabertooth Tigers.

NPC The Flytrap Leaves. They NPC for 1.3k and are normallly 900 gil on the AH. Farming Flytrap Leaves isnt heavily advised unless you have plenty of Inventory Space, as they dont stack.

Tiger Fang drop rates seem -higher- here than anywhere else.

Lufaise Meadows: 55+
Bugards, Orcs, Gigas.
Bugard drops must be NPCed for maximum value, Gigas can drop socks, necklaces, and craploads of gil (250+ often times). Orcs also drop gil and their usual drops. All the while lowering your Fomor Hate. Kill 2 birds with one stone.

I would also not Recommend the Leshy's till 67+, as the linkage there is deadly to ANYONE 60. Plus they stop conning EP at 67.

Oldton Movalpolos: 60+
Goblin, Moblins, bugbears. Pretty much everything but the Bats and bombs.
Have your THF subbed capped for your current level (or at least 30+). Moblins drop tons of gil, and Moblin Thread is 13k a stack. Other assorted Beastmen drops like Goblin and Moblin Helms are 1k and 2k, respectively. Moblin Mails are 2.5k each. Bugbear Masks are 2k. You can also mine, and I think you can get Darksteel and Iron there. Some of the higher mobs also drop the Chest Key for the Map (and then Gil I think from the chest).

Thanks for the heads up. I changed the post for Leshy's from 60+ to 67+. Also, thanks for the three farming ideas. Each of those areas must be marvelously sparse of competition ;)

Gusgen Mines -- While mining you can slay both Thunder and Earth Elementals. They are about as tough as the ones in Qufim. Level 50+ for Mages and 53+ for melee. Also, near the entrance there are a number of weaker Skeleton type mobs (10 in total, I think). Easy kills and they drop Bone Chips which are going for between 3k and 3.5k.

Konschtat Highlands -- BEES! They drop Bee chips frequently, and they go for about 6-7k per stack. Very easy kills while you're waiting for Rams.

Amethyst Quadavs -- Found in lower level areas in the Gustaberg region. They drop Quadav Backplates which go for 1k each, though they don't stack. Best option is to fill up you inventory with them, go to Bastok and Bazaar them for 900 each. Give a quick shout (please don't spam though) and they should vansih within minutes.

Anywhere Beastmen link -- This will only work really well for Blms. Go into pretty much any dungeon with Beastmen and start a train. Get 20 or so them spam -ga spells until they are dead. Please be kind to others though. Many are looking for keys and other quest items.

Actually the NM rams pops every 2 hours on average, the HNMs are more like every 24 hours give or take 12.

Alrighty. I added in your Gusgen Mines suggestion--thank you. I also added the bees to the Kon Highlands post. I'm trying to think of a way to write in the Amethyst Quaddy one, but as I have never farmed them I'm not too knowledgeable on that front. Do you know about what lvl a player should be to farm them, how many pops are in a given area, and what general pos they pop at? Sorry to ask for so much...I just have very little knowledge on this one ;)

Thanks, I added that in to the 55+ section. I think while farming these baddies on the upper tier it is also easy to snag the Old's you see on the lower tier as you pass them.

Thanks for the clear-up. I put a note for the Kon Highlands Ram that the NM pops every 2 hours+. However on the La Theine one I put every 1-2+ hours only because when I did purple belt quest that NM popped every hour. It took 3 pops for me to claim one, but (at least for me) the La Theine NM popped more frequently.

Thanks for adding in a Jugner section ;)

You write that Gusgen is one of the best places for bone chips. How about Maze of Shakrami--the wight room is packed with skels. You could just farm that one big room for bones, scorpion shells and claws, and elementals.

Excellent thread! You have put a lot of work into this great job. I farm a ton so i feel like i should at least contribute some addition info. All this info is from farming as THF main, so please take that into consideration. ug....this is going to be lengthy.

Early LVL stuff 10-20:
N. Gusta/Palborough Mines
Amethyst Quads: drop Quad backplates sell 900/1k on AH. decent drop rate.

Horototo Ruins(forget where, lookup Doppleganger Dio and Gog):
Bomb ash from killing ballons and the occasional pop of the aforementioned Dopplegangers.

Jugner Forest:
The NE spawns more around J-6/J-7 and can spawn on both sides of the path.
There is a 3rd spawn for Walking Trees around J-10.
Repop is ~10 mins
Water elementals spawn around the water @ I-6 and J-11(east side of river).
Bring some hatchets ^_~
Drop/steal rate of various seeds from Sapling mobs is very good in Jugner.

Dangruf Wadi:
Geyser lizard is a timed pop in 1 of 2 locations, randomly chosen. Killing steamed lizards doesn't increase the likelyhood of the Geyser Lizard popping.

Meriphataud Mountains:
Raptor drop rate is abysmal.
The areas surrounding H-5 make a nice loop going around that little mountain area farming Lizards, Flies and Goblins. Also 2 beetles pop right around H/I-4/5.
I've never experienced a lottery pop of Axe Beaks from Raptors, but i do know that there are 3 regular spawns G-8 to the uppermost corner of J-8. Respawn times are kinda long ~12-15 mins IIRC. Can also steal Giant Bird feathers from Axe Beaks.

Buburimu:
Sylvestre- best Saruta Cotton drops i have found yet. Also can steal cotton from them at a decent clip. Just watch out for BSTs around lvl 16-19 in the area, they use them for pets often; so don't be a dick.

Konschtat:
Confirmed Earth Elemental spawn in the same location of where you fight the bomb for SAM flag quest.

La Thiene:
Air Elemental: 5 spawns - C/D-5, E-8/9 to F-9, F-5 to F-7, J-7 to L-6, and G-11 to H-11(this one can also move southwest towards I-11 after it spawns). All of these elementals require you to drop of a small ledge to reach them (although sometimes they do get close enough to the ledge that you can /ra or /ma them, but i wouldn't risk losing the claim) and each area has a small path that you can climb back up.
Water Elemental: 2 known spawns @ H-7 and L-10

Pashow:
Water Elemental: 3 known spawns @ E/F-10, I-10, and K-7 directly behind the outpost. There may be more, but those i can confirm.

Random Note:
Anywhere you fight Yagudo Persecutors- they seem to have a much higher rate of Silver Beastcoin drops than any other mob i have come across, to the point that if i see one, i always kill it.

Ranguemont Pass:
Scorpions: Normal scorp drops + Harvester and Frostreaper
Ooze: Slime oil
Bat Eyes: Ahriman's Tears and Lenses (great for alchemists)
Hecteyes and Taisai: Mercury and Hecteyes Eyes aren't worth a ton, but every little bit adds up.
Bats: Tons and Tons of bats here, easy to load up on Bat Wings.

Xarcabard:
Ice Elementals: They are all over the place and it snows there a lot. You should have no problem finding them.
Demons: Demon Horns sell for 10k each IIRC.

Any suggestions for levels betwwen 13-35?

Or maybe SE did away with those levels...
What a horrible thing to say to such a great post...

but here's an answer for ya...

as soon as you get Treasure Hunter 1 head to the Horutoto Ruins
in East Sarutabaruta and farm the heck out of Gobbie Thugs. Wild onions have a great drop rate, you'll own the Thugs, and a stack will sell for between 8 and 10k (on Phoenix at least).

I would like to make a correction:

The Leshy Level I gave was, a little, low. a 67 can indeed solo ONE, b ut t he linkage makes farming them worthwhile.

70+ for Leshy. Also on the Leshy's, make SURE your fomor hate is relatively low, theres a party of 6 Fomor that spawn near the Camp fire.

Also, 72+, Misareaux Coast, near Sacrarium zone, Farm the Greater Birds (Diatryma). I think its Plums or plumes or something they drop, but its 120k a stack of them on Carby (I got this from a friend). To be safer, if you feel this may be unsafe, grab a buddy. I say this because Greater Birds are...well.....a bit dangerous :P
#47 Apr 02 2005 at 6:11 PM Rating: Decent
If you really want more that 10k in 10-20 min. Go to zitah and farm the goobbues the drop is good and fast even if you're not a thf(need a jod at least at lv 55) and if you are really greedy /thf and go in boyadah tree and steal spiderwebs every 5mins.

I would have to disagree with this one. Me and a friend went, I as a blm/thf and her as a rdm/rng. Her rng was only like a level 10, so widescan does not cover a lot of range. She covered the north spawn area and I the south. We claimed approximately 85% of the pops and we were facing off against at least 2 rng that I know of. Within a couple of hours we had near a dozen horns and several ram skins. Maybe we were just lucky that morning, but it is definitely possible to do without RNG/ or /RNG.

Guardian Crawler: Rolanberry 881. (I/J-9).
http://ffxi.allakhazam.com/db/bestiar...ml?fmob=108

Strategy: Buy 10-20 Stacks of Rolanberries from Gekko in Port Jueno (H-8). Head to Crawler's Nest. Place a rolanberry in the ??? @ (I/J-9). Kill the NM that pops to get the loot and repeat. When your pack is full trade the 881's to Vuntar in Selbina (H-9) for 800-900 gil a pop.

yea, too bad sometimes it takes like 1.5 stacks of berries to make the guardian crawler spawn.

in other words: there's much better stuff to farm.
