Fame to 9 in all nations quick!Follow

#1 Nov 08 2004 at 6:58 PM Rating: Good
Well I saw a posting today on how to get fame, I did this, this weekend so i promise it works! Cost 200k but in the end you only lose 20k, it is well worth the money!

I had 0 fame in bastok Jeuno and Windy, Bought 25 stacks of Boyahodo moss(bad spelling) and traded them 1 at a time to the npc in selbina next to the sheep! Then went and checked my fame in each nation, I am hero everywhere now except Windy.

By doing selbina quest your bastok sandorian and overall jeuno fame is affected so i had to go to Windy, copmplete a few repeatables and did a few other easy quest and a few more then had rank 9 there also.

I found this info on another site and i assure it works, may be posted here as well i'm not sure but here it is just for the record! Cost 200k but npc gives back total of 180k so its not bad, real good for anyone that is in crafting considering npc prices nearly split in half!

It indeed works for areas EXCEPT Windurst and Norg. So technically, you don't get Hero Fame in all nations.

Plus, if you pace yourself and buy moss at the right time from the AH, you can MAKE money doing this quest. A very small amount, but still better than losing money.

This is a pretty widely known quest already, so the cost will not likely increase too much.

Yeah moss generally costs exactly what you get in return for the quest. This is an excellent way to get max fame in all cities, especially if your from Windurst and have done a lot of their quests already. I never paid more then 600 per moss and never lost one gil doing this quest for max fame in sandy, bastok, and therefore jeuno as well.

People aren't getting upset. They just always have their opinion. I would get used to it. Good info though. I at least will get something out of it.

It's a great quest! But...

I've been told (and my own experiences would tend to agree with this) that every time you complete "Simply the Best" in Selbina, your Norg/Tenshodo fame drops a little bit. I did a lot of repeats of the zinc ore quest so that eventually I could quest for Utsusemi: Ichi. I didn't have quite enough fame for the quest, but I was close. Then I found out about Simply the Best (back when doing it with boyahda moss still made you a profit) so I did about 30 stacks of boyahda moss for this quest. I later found that my Norg/Tenshodo fame had gone back to nothing, so I had to go farm many, many... many... yagudo bead necklaces to finally reach the same fame point I was at before.

So, my suggestion would be to either do Simply the Best early on when you have no Tenshodo fame to lose, or get your Tenshodo fame up and get all the quests you can before you do Simply the Best. Just a heads-up for anyone who chooses to do this quest for fame.

I'd traded maybe 200 stacks of cabages to that gassy old scotsman in selbina, but last night I finally decided to bring him a stack of moss.

I bought the stack at the AH for 7800.
I noticed that singles were selling for 500 each.

Once in selbina, I noticed that he gave me 600 each as I traded him, meaning that If I had purchased all 12 individually, I'd have made a 1200 profit, but since I bought an entire stack for 7800, I actually lost at least 600 gil in the exchange.

Ahh, the auction house, she is a fickle mistress.

    In case you were wondering....

Level 9 norg fame = roughly 600 yagudo necklaces, samurai job quest, leviathan quest, and all ninja scroll quests completed.

Don't ask me why I have level 9 norg fame, I just do.

If you're planning on taking Norg fame above level 7, you can no longer rely on rice ball prices in Jeuno at the tenshodo. They bottom out at 144 gil, after which you'll actually have to go to norg to check your fame.

25 Stacks of boyada moss in selbina, 120 Cornettes in windy, and that will take care of everywhere other than Norg. I did 100 zinc Ore for Norg and it gave me enough fame to get my nin scroll quests, don't think its "Hero" status yet though. I hope this helps anyone out.

I've heard (I can't say 100%) that doing quests anywhere except Norg decreases Norg fame slightly (decreases less than the fame you gain) and doing Norg quests decrease fame elsewhere. Not sure if it's true or not.

I've got Hero in San d'Oria/Bastok/Windurst and I'm not sure exactly what level my Norg fame is; it's at the level needed to do the Utsusemi and Leviathan quests.

As a point of fnote, you can also use Millioncorn or La Thiene Cabbage for the quest. You can buy them from NPC too, compared to the moss which you have to either farm or buy from AH.

I'm trying to think of some good Windy quests, since you didn't mention them in your post. I got my fame by doing an assload of non-repeatable quests, and a few repeatable ones (like the smooth stone and crawler calculus ones) while xping lowbie jobs there. I don't believe the Yagudo Necklaces (Norg fame) quest also increases Windurst fame, but I may be wrong.

Edit: Oh yeah, Cornettes. Best to do when Bastok is in first, as you can buy them from an NPC in Bastok. Buy as many as you can and then hoof it over to Windy.

I did same quest traded 12x12 moss for about 1½ year ago it is nice and easy to do, later on I did the quest for Crawlers Nest (long quest that is in fact 18 tasks that give fame for each task you do) and now I have hero fame in Bastok, Jeuno, Sand'Oria, Selbina and Rabao, very nice.
