Final Fantasy Prison.....Follow

#1 Jul 18 2004 at 9:29 AM Rating: Decent
Hello,

Today I was sent to prison for a very dumb reason. Please hear me out before you start telling me how I am wrong!!

I was in Jeuno seeking party for 5 hours. I get an invite from a Japenese player on the 2nd hour. He finds out I am an English player. He says sorry no english players. I go back to seeking.

At the 4th hour I get another invite. Then he finds out I am not Japenese and he tells me sorry JP only. So then instead of being rejected I make the mark on search info to E instead of nothing. Then go to the search comment and write:

" Japenese = No Thanks! " " English Party ONLY "

So I go AFK for about 1 hour. I come back and I see myself disconnected from the server. I thought maybe I lost my connection, anyway I log back on. I see myself in Mordion so I place a GM call asking why I have been brought there.

A GM pops in there. He asks me If I know why I was brought here. I say no, then he tells me I made a racist comment in my search info.

Can someone please explain to me how I am being racist if I dont want to party with a Japenese player because I cannot understand them and I have no fun since I dont get to talk to anyone.

I have seen many Japenese people who write "JP ONLY" in their bazaar info or search info. There is a player whos bazaar info says "Look at you impolite Americans". So now I am restricted to who I can party with?

Haha...I'm going to put that in my comment now, just to see if they'll toss me in their little prison. Then I'll point out the amazing fact that 9/10 JPN players have JP Only. See what happens.

Yes... The GM said I offended another Japenese player...

As if I didn't get offended when I got 2 invites and then had to leave the party both times.

WTF JP do that to us all the time.

I can't even count the amount of times i've seen English Party No thanks JP Only.

thats really dumb if that's why you got put in there. My guess would be you got jailed by a JP GM.
#5 Jul 18 2004 at 9:43 AM Rating: Decent
Not sure you deserve jail if this is all there is to the story, but I think it was the:
Quote:
" Japenese = No Thanks! "

That may have gotten you in trouble.
/em Shrugs

Starting to think that there is no hope for the game to mesh well, when so many players have this on going battle between Japanese and North American players.

/em sighs dejectedly

Well I saw a JP with {English} = Enemy.

There will always be a double standard in this game.

I think from now on, I'll report every rude JP comment (not JP only or whatever, the rude ones) xD

JPs have all types of anti-NA comments posted all the time. I am becoming more and more disgusted with the JP people. I am at the point where I have JE listed and I get some JP parties and members, but most are jerks and some say they don't want an NA because we don't know how to play a character. Most parties I've been in have had members re-invite for my good pulling, JPs are really pissing me off now.

Also, Many JP people say how english players are "rude" and have "no manners", Well I am a new Ninja and I was examining some high level ninjas to see what kind of equipment they use. I come across this JP nin, I examine him and then I receive a tell from him saying "..." so I sent tell back "yes?" then he starts swearing at me like "*** you *****" "*******" etc. :(

Most JP's got "JP Only" or such in their comments because they dont know english, or its bad.

Would you like to join a party with 12year old players, where they speak in a language you dont understand, and cant play the game correctly?. Or do you want to party with people you can understand?

I have been invited to "JP Only" parties. i had {I don't understand any japanese} in my comment, there were plenty of other RDM's at the moment, but they took me.

They could speak enough english to get their point trough, the Translator worked fine.

And some might hate the guts out of the big Ego(USA), wich almost everyone does nowdays. Better to build a huge parkinglot over the whole place etc etc and they take out all this on the NA players, even though there are other non USA players.

(Gonna get rated down for this, boohoo ^^ )

Rate down? Yes, go ahead rate me down all you want. I just came here to ask how what I did was wrong.

it may be yet another issue with the auto translator. not sure how {No Thanks!} comes across. but i to smell something funny. tho if you are being fully truthful then take it up with support. as in and of it self being thrown into prison or being talked to by a GM for something like that is a violation of the EULA by the GM. also according to the GM's i have talked to (was being harrased in group chat) they can do nothing about anything said in group chat. (that was for jail bait by the way).

Sounds funny to me.
Gms have the ability to change/alter most data about your character, including things like offensive names or comments.
You'd most likely come back to find your comment erased and a warning /tell the first time.
Second offences will generate more serious results.

The usual way to politely avoid a jp party is to use "I dont speak any japanese" in the translator.
Its a smoother way of saying "if you invite me, there will be language issues".

Ive still been invited by jp parties when using it, and I do my best to deal with them since most parties over 60 will be mixed.

Alot of people think the jp hate na... I dunno if caitsith is strange, but I havnt experienced anything near to that beyond the usual misunderstandings between languages.

Even if I did run across a racist player, I would remind myself theres bad apples in every bunch.

I agree i dont nearly run into JP party problems. Many times i'll get PT invites in full japenese but i can read the PT i'll kindly respond with {i'm sorry} {i dont speak any Japanese} {invite} {Party}? to which i usually get something back in auto translator and promptly get a PT invite from them.

I think Caitsith has done really well in bringing NA/JP together. We work well together.

i don't know how japanese FFXI player would see {japanese} on their log window
*anyone here bought the JP version? ^^;*

it's either {nihon jin} (ppl) or {nihon go} (language)
because in english, word "japanese" not only can refer to ppl, but also the language

if it's translated to {nihon go} , really, i don't see the point where you being racist. but , if it's {nihon jin}, well.. yes, you must accept that you were being racist.
Not because you intend to be racist, but you just don't know what the auto translate fucntion does.

second,
instead of that, from my point of view, using "{I don't speak any Japanese}" seems better rather than "{Japanese} = {No, Thank you}, {English Party Only}".
As some of the posters before me pointed it out, the reason why Japanese ppl don't want you to be in PT maybe because of the communication.

I think JP players and american players are meshing better now i know some that have kicked me out of partys cause i am english but some who have help me with RSE i just guess you must pick wisely who ur friends are American or JP or whoever.
