Actually, Lauren, I read the post that I believe you are referring to:
here but I fail to see how I have mis-understood what you wrote. Quoting from your own post:

The Karma system serves many purposes. Its core function is to raise quality information above the drek, making good posts easier to find.
It's also there to encourage, serve as a carrot enticing people to a) post useful quality information, and b) behave in a civil, polite manner to eachother.
The opposite of a) would be a useless thread, and the opposite of b) would be an offensive one. Could you please explain what you meant by quoting me?

Geee, that's a real good way to identify a useful poster, whether or not people like them. George Washington had a whopping 37% approval rate during the War of American Independance. Sure showed us about the link between being liked and usefull content.
To use a counter-example:
Quote:
"But the fact that some geniuses were laughed at does not imply that all who are laughed at are geniuses. They laughed at Columbus, they laughed at Fulton, they laughed at the Wright Brothers. But they also laughed at Bozo the Clown." - Carl Sagan.
To claim that one is in the right in the face of popular dislike requires
proof. The claim that "oh, I'm just like Washington - people hated him, they hate me, I must be right" is no evidence at all. After all, there were a lot of people who disliked Hitler. And how would you feel if Hitler had used your example in the Nuremburg trials (had he been tried there)?
Incidentally since you quoted my post, I'm assuming you were talking to me, and as such I would ask you to point out where I stated that I dislike LadyOfHolyDarkness?
Cheers!
