5. If your Paladin paralyzed, please, please, give him paralyna. Nothing is worse than missing a provoke or sentinel because of this. I heard ppl say "but you don't do damage, paralyze is no biggie to you." Well... it is a biggie, when paladin looses aggro due to it.

6. If Paladin is silenced = he's worthless. See #5.

lol been fighting torama's eh?

13)mages who do get agro do not run around the whole field this makes locking a voke on the mob ADD near imposible while already engaged with the first mob,get in front of the paladin so he can clearly see the ADD things like flash and voke manualy placed take a little longer to do but can be done in visual range.

I was in a Qufim PT today with a BLM who was chain-nuking, pulling hate away from the PLD. He also didn't understand why I was only casting Cure I on the PLD, never quite topping him off (I think I only used Cure II twice in two hours). We had to explain things to the guy. I swear, our conversation was almost this exact thread.

How incredibly awesomely put! I'm tired of having the backup tank and DMG dealer yell at me since Provoke's not ready and I don't have enough MP for Flash (seeing in Crawler's Nest I heal alot to keep aggro.)... I simply must show this thread to my linkshell.
... That was beautiful... */cry*

Let me add one I have seen unfortunately too many times. A PLD is not a damage dealer. Having two PLD's in a group is 99% of the time robbing another PT of a PLD. Don't do it. Just get a DRG, there are plenty of those out there as well.

First time I've seen this post. These are clear, concise points and all still applicable. I'm a pretty layed back PLD and haven't minded taking the time explaining some of hate dynamics pointed out here in my pts. Even still I thought this would be more common knowledge as I approach lvl 50.

Great post!!! I just want to add(sure it has already) that if you choose a PLD to be in your party please know that he is there to tank. Makes life much easier on pty and exp much faster.

in addition to something that was posted earlier (i haven't quite figured out how to reply to an individual post, hey i'm new).

a one handed sword attacks more often, and with a higher one hand sword cap, it simply generates more hate. and as you said, it gives you access to shield bash, all the goodies that accompany a shield, and stat boosts on a one hand sword(lot more than great sword). but, i've never used shield bash to stop gobbie bombs....(maybe that will change, seeing i'm only level 40) i reserve it for the rare occasion i loose hate, and i do mean rare.
And i don't understand paladin that use great sword and expect to ANYTHING in a party situation... that is unless you're just fooling around in the low levels.

Just want to make a Comment on this:

8. If you see a Paladin in red and he's gonna die, provoking will be worthless most of the time (a good paladin will have close to 0 MP by the time he's close to being dead, which means he generated a lot of aggro). Best thing you can do is to increase your damage as much as you can to kill the mob before it wastes your tank. Remember, you will be next on the mob's breakfast menu.

Note I am stating this not as a Paladin, but as someone who is responsible for saving the Tank's life at varying times.

If and when your Paladin gets hit by a massivley powerful and devastating ability such as Sickle Slash. Or just generally goes into the Red, there is something that Either a Dark Knight or a Black Mage can do to save his life.

Stun or Weapon Bash

Note, if you use Weapon Bash, I would advise using Drk AF gauntlets as Wpn Bash is vastly improved with them equipped. I've pulled off 5 second stuns in the tree when the Pld Got hit with Sickle slash and Stun was still counting down on the timer. This second stun saved the Tank's life and allowed the Whm and Rdm to bring the Pld back up to good standing. Some Spiders LOVE to spam Sickle Slash. -_-;

But generally speaking, if you are a Dark, reserve at least enough MP for a stun just in case. Your Paladin, and your party will vastly appreciate it. As is generally the case that when the Tank goes down...everyone soon follows.
