Rari Vs. Spini SipiFollow

#1 Feb 17 2004 at 12:46 PM Rating: Excellent
Thank you folks and welcome to tonight’s fight located in beautiful East Sarutabaruta!

And Here come our contenders. In one corner is Rari weighing in at 12BLM/6WHM equipped with heavy amounts of linens. In the other corner is the one, the only NM Crawler, SPIIIIIIIINI SIPI-eeeeeee!!! Sipi steps up to the scales and weighs in at an incredible “Impossible to gauge.”

Looks like Rari needs to top off his HP and MP bars before starting tonight’s fight...

Rari looks ready after casting “Blaze Spike”

And there he goes, starting off with “Bind” and enabling Auto-Attack! Sipi is out of range to hit Rari! Rari casts “Bio” and “Blind.” Followed by “Dia”, “Banish” and “Paralyze”

Sipi is no longer bound! He’s fastly approaching Rari!

Rari takes a hard blow to the right! And returns with unleashing his elementals! “Stone” “Water” “Aero”

Sipi is POUNDING Rari into a bloody pulp! The HP bars are neck-and-neck! This is a close fight folks!

Rari tries to cast “Cure” but is interrupted! Sipi is hitting nonstop! Left, Right, Left!

Rari’s HP is in the red with only 7 MP left! Sipi throws in another blow! Rari uses his 2hr! Enabling “Mana Font”!

Rari, “Cure” Sipi hook left! Rari “Cure” Sipi hook right! Rari casts “Cure” a third time! Spini Sipi misses! Oh my! Sipi missed!

It’s not over folks! Rari casts “Areo” and “Water” Sipi gives in his final hit, Rari returns with his staff!

WE HAVE A CHAMPION!!!! RARI IS VICTORIOUS! With only 12HP and 0MP! Rari wins the fight! He receives a spool of silk thread, a crawler calculus, and the coveted Mist Silk Cape.

What a great fight! Thank you for joining us folks! This is Cadell with Vana’diel Sports Radio, saying “So long and good night!”

This was my 4th encounter with that NM. 2 deaths, 1 missed chance to grab him, and this. It was a fun fight! Smiley: grin Just thought I'd share...

I wish I could see Spipi or Tom Tit Tat. :( I'm just not that lucky, I guess.

I saw spipi when I was still level 10 or so, someone else started killing him. Just a few nights ago I saw Ishtar, loaded myself up with kabobs and milk, laid on everything, Beserk, Trick Attack, Sneak Attack, I think I was even lucky enough to have tp for FB. It was so one sided it was funny, he maybe did like 50 damage to me at the end. He didn't drop anything but a couple dhalmel hides and a giant femur =(

Fun post Rari!!!

And I love spipi, one of the best NM at that level, and you actually beat him fair and square, not with some high level job. :)

And that mist silk cloak...it's one of the best cloaks up to 30th for a mage. Can't beat it anywhere else.

Thanks for the read :)

I know where most of the popular NMs spawn, but it's always my luck that they'll spawn behind me and then someone else will get them... Happened to me twice with the Valkurm Emperor. :'( Poor me.

Lucky you! :) Good job!

I've encountered Spipi eight times.

The first time I was leveling my little thief, lvl 9. The character I was playing is normally a lvl 19 warrior. And Spipi had a friend spawn right near him, too. Kiyamvir (me) was down for the count!

The second time I was playing my main character, leveling my summoner, lvl 9 or 10, I forget. I'm normally a lvl 30 white mage. Carbuncle, brave little soul, didn't last too long - neither did I! A ranger who was nearby, lvl 9 herself, snatched him when I fell. I ran all the way out there, she was still fighting it. It seems a white mage came along and stood there curing her while she fought it. It dropped the Mist Silk Cape for her!

The third time, I was yet again playing my mithra thief. Why I torment myself by hunting there, I will never know. Once again, just idly killing in the area, who spawns before me? Spiny Spipi, of course. And the end result was the same. Kiyamvir was defeated!

The fourth time, it was personal! I brought out my 30 White Mage and I staked out Spipi's oasis (as my husband and I call that area) for two hours. I finally saw his bright yellow and black body and brought him to a ruinous end. I didn't cast spells on him, oh no. Like I said, it was personal. I whacked him with my stick until he fell down! (Auto-Regen is so nice...) I got a silk thread for my effort.

The fifth time, it was still personal. I camped that area, killing crawlers for three hours. As I was doing my run through the area, with that jumpy jittery feeling everytime you spot a regular crawler, and rush forward, only to discover it wasn't him? Well. Someone snared him before I could. I couldn't bear to watch, as my most honored enemy was slaughtered by another.

The sixth time, my in game brother (real life husband) joined me in the hunt. It's personal for him, too. We killed crawlers and more crawlers and more crawlers, and finally, Spiny Spipi spawned! (Say that three times fast...) He didn't last long against Kishan's mighty magics! But again, not even a silk thread this time! He cut us deep, giving us a ... crawler calculus.

The seventh time, much like the fifth, again we hunted, and ran, and hunted, with ranger as a sub-job for that oh so nifty little skill called Wide Scan. But someone running through the area just so happened to run right into Spiny, as he spawned. Foiled again.

The eighth and last time, my husband was leveling his summoner. I was in Windurst, doing some shopping. When lo and behold, he shouts, "He's here! Get on a chocobo!!"
My little taru legs ran as fast as they could to the stables. And then the chocobo ran as fast as it's long legs could to where Spiny Spipi was. I dismounted. I was also wearing my little white shirt and green pants (ie: nothing for a Taru!). All I had, was my stick. And so, I whacked away! And what do I get for my troubles? Nothing!

After that, Kishan and I conceeded .. not defeat, no, but a truce. No more hunting Spiny Spipi... for a while, at least. After eight tries at him, I don't think me having a Mist Silk Cape is written in the stars!

(Sorry for the length of it, but the original post put me into a descriptive and verbose mood.. ;)

That was really something.

I've had a few close calls like that, but I'd never be able to tell it like that!

Kiatrix, wow, some luck.

I myself have never gone NM hunting. save for a Weekend at Bernies (Bubbly Bernie, saw Mooglestil's guide, and decided to give it a go for the Titan/Garuda Fame)

i dont know why, but, i just dont want to hunt them often, if at all. i havnt read enough about them to know what they drop. the ones that drop anything good are usually camped enough to where a line has been formed.

Grats again Cadel.

yay! congrats on your NM take down...

I was in game saturday with my 2nd char Imilie and bumped into a NM.. I was leveling in La Thiene Plateau with my girlfriend (both level 13 at the time) and we were attacked by....

Bloodtear Baldurf - level 63 NM

killed her char in the first hit...it was too late to run... I simply thought to myself..***** it.. going to swing before I die. wiffed badly... Parried it's first attack (for .4 added to my parry skill, O_O go me!!!) then I became something squisy and crumpled on the ground.

it came to us cause it was chasing other people.. by the time it was done.. not counting myself... there were about 5 bodies lying on the ground in various broken poses...
