oops, crap hit enter, anyway to sum it up before someone posts, i've not seen any post 30 warriors and i'm wondering how short in supply they will be or are now since everyone and their dog is picking an advanced class. we need warriors people, very important job.

Where'd your post go? :P

I was wondering the same thing when I became a Paladin. I would think part of it is that many people start with Warrior and become another form of melee class, and may sub a different job and lose their provoke ability.

Another thing that happened to me was, getting discouraged of the earlier high number of Warriors around. I first had a Elvaan Warrior, got him to 18, got discouraged, leveled white mage with him to 18, realized Elvaans don't have much mana, made a Hume white mage got bored, went back to warrior as a Hume, and loved it.

I am now a Paladin and am finding it pretty easy to get into a good party with a balanced mix of classes the "second" time around.

I'm loving Paladin/Warrior. I've got the provoke, more hit points, defense, and am able to heal myself quite a bit. I already have a lot more mana and healing ability then I did as a Warrior/White Mage while leveling to 30.

edit: saw your second post yes definitly after 30 the warriors are going to try advanced jobs and start over again, like me.

thanks, that's what i meant, just hit enter after the subject line, was going to go to at least a little length on the subject i swear=P

anyway, i picked dragoon cause that's what i want to play and still is so i guess i'm being a hypocrite about it. but it seems like there wont' be any higher level warriors because those who want to tank switch over to paladin. i'd like to know from a higher level warrior what the benefits of warrior are over paladin, also if anyone plans to play warrior the whole way though. i looked it up yesterday and there were 390 something warriors on my server, and only 80 were over the level 30. so does that mean we have a lot of warriors or alot of wannabe advanced jobs? imo warrior is a very important and cool job(just not my cup of tea) so we need all the ones we get, i think if you want a kickbutt job it is one of them, even after level 30. what cool abilities do they get after 30 and what's their role in parties with a paladin? feel free to add please.

Like most games warriors get screwed on skills even though they are supposed to be the badarse melee and by the time you hit 30 your discouraged.

In my opinion, Warriors over level 30 have more versatility. They are defensive, but not as much as a Paladin, and offensive, but not as much as a Dark Knight. A Warrior can still be a good main tank, but should argueably let a Paladin take over if there is one in the party.

At higher levels Warriors get some interesting abilities, that Paladins or Dark Knights won't get until extreme high levels with Warrior subbed.

Warriors can use berserk or defender depending on their role in the party as main tank or damage dealer. War Cry at level 35 gives everyone in the party a attack bonus, which isn't available as subbed until level 70. And then the skill Agressor which could be useful, but I have never seen it in action, increaes accuracy, while lowering evasion.

Warrior as main job can also have some interesting sub job combinations. If I did not want to be a Paladin, I would have gone with Warrior/White Mage, which I hear is able to create huge amounts of hate by doing divine seal, and Curaga. Along with Provoke, it would take a Benediction from a White Mage to get the monster off of you.

I hate warrior. I mean hate it, it is not a fun job for me. However, I have leveled it to 20 to make a nice sub for my almost 40 Dragoon.

I think a large majority of the warriors take the route. maybe as those jobs get past 60 we'll see morep eople leveling war past 30 ;)

I know thats the only time I plan to (heck I don't want to level it past 25, but I hate people with underleveled subs)

IMO, while a WAR post 30 makes a good, all-around melee, a PLD makes a better tank while a DRK or SAM makes a better damage dealer. It's similar to the reason groups look for a WHM to heal and a BLM to nuke, and wouldn't pick an RDM as first choice for either slot. Then again, RDM gets some nice abilities that *they* specialize in (debuffs and, later, Refresh), whereas WARs don't, really, so RDM's are sought after at later levels, as well.

The PLD can generate more than enough Hate to keep the mob centered on him, without needing a DS Curaga. They, too, get healing spells to help out in a tight spot. While they don't get group-effect spells, they do get VIT+ and DEF+ passive abilities, which means they take less damage - hence, specializing.

I hate agreeing with the Brady Games guide, but they say it best: the problem with WAR as a main job is that it makes an even better subjob.

I'll agree with some of the other posters. I'm primarily interested in being a tank while I build myself up, so I do plan on switching to Paladin as soon as I can.

However, my overall character strategy would include working on all three: Paladin, Dark Knight and Warrior. That way I can adjust class according to the needs of a party, whether they need tank, balanced, or damage dealer.
