PTs and Main TanksFollow

Alright...I little "peed" off after a recent party...Just wanted to claify *exactly* what a main tank does. As is my understanding, the main tank vokes off the puller, and continues to voke as much as possible to keep the mob on them, thus taking most of the damage. Now... The roles of the other people in the party...If you have a whm, they are mainly focused on the main tank, healing and whatnot. Other vokers voke if a) the hp of the main tanker gets dangerously low or b) the mob turns on the whm and the main tank has yet time to wait before another voke. This is just a general scenerio, and if I am wrong, please correct me. I'm still a little bit new to the game, and input would be appreciated :)

That is the system I use that it seems to work pretty well. Sometimes I run into a tank that insists on saving their provoke until aggro switches to the casters but I don't that strategy is as effective.

I agree. Its much more affective to have a huge amount of aggro on the tank constantly, rather then them trying desperately to build it while the WHM or BLM is getting killed.

Yes that is what a main tank does, and in a well organized group with everyone doing their jobs you will kill two to three times faster then the disorganized mobs I see that only provoke when the mob makes a run for the mages.

While this works for a while, just wait till you get to the citidel and then the crawler's nest. This is where those tactics get you very dead very quickly. You see whole parties wiped out because nobody knows what they're doing, while the well organized groups that use a primary tank stand there chaining all day with no deaths (or at least, they're very uncommon)

Adjust the resolution of menus.
The main screen resolution for "FINAL FANTASY XI" is dependent on the "Overlay Graphics Resolution" setting.
If the Overlay Graphics Resolution is set higher than the Menu Resolution, menus will be automatically resized.

I thought of it first:

I was PTing with a PLD yesterday who refused to voke until the mob went for the mages. As the puller and a THF using SA; this got old really quickly. Not only did I wind up missing half my Sneaks, the times that it did land I'd wind up with all the aggro and the PLD unable to take it back because he didn't have enough hate built up. I don't have the armor to be the tank, I'm not supposed to. I think the only reason I actually sub WAR is that I can help out other THFs in my party use their SA.
