It is getting me mad really mad now and no one can explain how to fix it.
I have done the following.
Gotten all the newest drivers for my vid card
Gotten all the new drivesrs for my mobo
all patches for windows
close everything running but the game and virus scanner
it still freezes and i know a lot more people then jsut me have this problem so why are they not doing anything about it. Anyways do you have any ideas? thanx in advance

Its possible that your system in general is unstable. My hard freezes were caused by a GPU that was overclocked abit too far for THIS game (works just fine in others). From what I hear ports commonly have problems.
I guess my main question is, does this happen with other 3D games, or benchmarks such as Aquamark or 3DMark 2003?

well i DID get screen freezes, but ever since i uninstalled and reinstalled my sound drive or wateva i hav'nt had em since. I was trying everything to fix it and accidently uninstalled sound drive, after reinstalling it my FFXI has'nt had one since..strange
You could also once POL Viewer is open bring up task mangager(ctr+alt+dlt) and close all proceses apart from ones it doesnt let you and your virus scan (even internet explorer) that seems to reduce lagg and chopyness, dunno about screen freezes though.
