No idea what is going on but I can say that on Alexander I have seen up to 5000 people online at one time without any change in the lag. Whatever the problem is I don't believe it to be a load issue.

I finally got let back on the server, and it looks like it might have rebooted or something... The number of users went from 3800+ to about 1800 or so...
I spawned in front of the AH in Bastok Mines. I tried to leave and zone to South Gustaburg, and it said "You could not enter the next area."
in red. So I tried to go to Bastok Markets... same thing. It did however, let me go into Zeruhn Mines. I guess I'll loiter around there until this is fixed.
This is starting to be annoying.

I do a "/search all" [enter]
To the best of my limited knowledge, it looks for every player in all the zones, with nothing specific to match. Of course, if you can suggest a better way to get a more accurate number, I would be grateful. Any help would be appriciated. Thanks.

On Ifrit I cannot log in with any character. One is in South San d'Oria and the other is in Windhurst woods. Also the last five minutes of the game isn't there doesn't look like cause was at AH and had just upgraded my armor and isn't showing any of it. Probably going to lose the stuff I got and the gil I spent on it. Not a good thing when you need the stuff as bad as my char did.
I figure, it's been a while, I'll go try to zone again... That and I'm tired of beating on bats and worms.
Nope, still broken. There's like 10 of us standing by the gate fuming...
Since I did the ameryllis quest, I thought I'd go try to beat the system by going into my Mog House and leaving to another zone. I entered my Mog House from Bastok Mines, and I tried to leave Bastok Markets. As soon as I tried, I got kicked off to the the character selection screen.

Same problem, can't connect. I've been on since 7am, so that's about 5 hours and I never noticed any lag the few minutes before I got disconnect, but when I died, and went to restart at my homepoint, I got disconnected and can't log back on.
I was on the airship to jeuno when it died.
I can log in with my alternate charachter (in san) but my main refuses to budge past the selection screen.

Does anyone know why this had to happen on my day off? On the day that I planned on playing all day? Also, for those of you that are ex-EQ or current EQ players, does EQ have this much downtime, maintanence, and updates? Also what is the monthly charge for EQ? Not that I am planning on turning to the darkside but I was just curious of the comparisons.

On Pheonix it would seem that the Valkurm Dunes are nonexsistent. Giving the message: "You could not enter the next area." Also, on seaches there is noone in the dunes which also helps a bit. It would seem that certain areas of the world are down and people who logged out there can't log in, and people who respawn at their hp in a bad area can't enter.
I did see someone attempt to zone and kept getting flushed back only to die...

I haven't been able to log in all day yet, with either of my characters on Seraph. This sucks!

It seems the servers are slowly coming back up, according to the status page... Odin and Cerberus are online now.
my hp was in sandoria, but i was all the way at pal mines...knew i should've changed my hp in bastok, but no thanks to my lazy ***, gay piece of ****.
My linkshell and I have been noticing lag spikes the past couple days, maybe this is related?

Anyone have lag issues last night (7-10 PM EST, Jan. 18)? I've never played on dial-up before and it never occured to me that it might be a bigger problem. I was trying to log at the Windurst Walls AH and it kept dropping the receive side, but never lost the connection (I pulled the phone line on it before it could disconnect).
