Things you never want to see a WHM sayFollow

#52 Jan 20 2004 at 4:54 AM Rating: Decent
about a month ago a white mage in battle got ONE lousy hit on him/her (???)

(WHM) starts cast cure on (WHM)
(WHM) recovers 35hp
(Cheyenne) Why did you just heal yourself? You're almost full HP and we need to chain
(WHM) I had extra MP

"I HAD EXTRA MP"...... LMAO, wow talk about beeing generous to ones self

First off, I'm a PLD. Last night, I had a WHM tell me to share argo with our MNK so she didn't have to pump all her healing into me.... ???

If I'm doing my job (and I was) I'm the only one that ever gets hit, and if she's doing her job (and she was) I never even come close to death, and since I was also healing myself, she used less mp and we chained faster.

Is this not the way it "suppose" to be done?

(true story)

group was looking for a WHM in Qufim. found one, /telled him:

me: "hey, want to join us? war/mnk/rdm/blm/sam 22-24"
whm: "where are you guys.. i'm at the tower"
me: "okay, we're on our way there now"
whm: "no, i'm not waiting on a group to get to me, i'll join another group that's closer."
me: "??"
whm: "um.. i'm a white mage."
me: "?????"
whm: "i'm getting flooded by invites, stop messaging me."

okay.. so we decided to try our luck in Battalia. on the way out, we pass that same WHM with his light on by the homepoint. our PT leader /invites him and he joins. immediately, we get this:

whm: WTF. MY F*CKING PARTY JUST GOT ME F*CKING KILLED.
group: oh my, what happened?
whm: WE GOT AGGROED AND A GIANT WAS HITTING ME AND THOSE ASSH*LES WERE ACTUALLY TELLING ME TO USE BENEDICTION!!!?!?!!!
group: so you did?
whm: NOOO!!
group: ... ouch.. so everyone died?
whm: THEY F*CKING DESERVED TO DIE FOR NOT PROVOKING IT OFF OF ME FASTER, I'M THE F*CKING WHM!!

....silence for a while as the group puts together that basically, the lousy whm aggroed something, the warriors provoked it off of him and were killed in the process, and then the white mage was killed after the rest of the party was killed (due to his agro).

then i get this /tell from the whm:

"fail me and i'll leave this PT too."

oi, if i'd had leader. who cares if he's a whm, doesn't warrant him the right to be a total ***.

so yeah, we fought a battle, he rarely healed (i healed a LOT.. i was playing a BLM), and when we asked him for buffs there was no response. halfway through battle two he says, "oh sorry, was watching TV. buffs after this fight."
O_o

after that fight he went linkdead.. we immediately invited a RDM without waiting for him to return (which he didn't).

started my own little "Never Party With" list that night.

Man sounds like our WHM in Kazham

1) He was rude and yelled at everyone
2) He was trying to tell the melee fighters how to do their weapon skills
3) He sat back and only casted Regan (Just Got the Spell mind
you!)
4) I turned into an Awesome WHM playing as a RDM and my whole
party was sending me tells saying "YOU ROCK"
5) When anybody died The WHM was going off and blaming it on
other players
6) Made me decide to be level up sub WHM and be the best white
mage Possible ( I even will spend time every so often just
hanging out giving raises)

If anyone is on the Pandamonium and is at least a 25/WHM or
38/RDM let me know if you wanna join our orginization

WHM: I'm really a Lv 18 Galka Monk. I'm just levelling my sub WHM.

I experienced this myself.

We gathered a 18 people alliance to do the sandoria eco-warrior quest. Necroplasm killed 5 members of the alliance and whms couldn't raise because of the lvl. 20 cap. Instead of waiting half an hour we decided to find whm to raise.

We find a lvl 50 whm around and ask her for raise. We ask her to raise our people and we get this response in japanese.

whm: Pay me 50,000 gil for raise.

That's like 10 of us giving up the 5K gil reward from the quest for a raise? I guess some people don't even deserve to be called whm. I remember the name and some days later i find her in front of the goldsmith and blacksmith guild doing synth non-stop. I wonder how she got the money to burn, guess some people elsewhere are desperate enough to have paid her fee.

ElderonXI... if you are gonna rip me for symantics at least read the phrasing correctly or pick something like punctuation or spelling which I regularly ***** up:

I said
"best real life quotes from a whm, both from same mage"

I did NOT say
"best quotes from a real life whm, both from the same mage"

I asserted the quotes to follow were actually spoken by a whm. As opposed to your post which was clearly fiction and therefore not "real life quotes" from anyone. The point was that it is almost horrifying to hear such things from a WHM right before you engage in battle with a dragon. The quotes were exactly on topic with "Things you never want to see a WHM say". As opposed to your quotes which are funny, but I wouldnt mind seeing a WHM say.

agree with inquisidor. The LAST thing a WHM should say is "My services cost ......gils" Some are good some are bad, just like tanks... But if the WHM start charging for services of the job they picked to be, should us good tanks charge the WHM's for joining our pt and help them lvl up by tanking the mobs of their @ss's???

I saw a galka WHM today and he was complaining about having no MP and how it was so hard... sad..

saw a high level galkan whm the other day wearing the holy plate body armor (not exactly sure of armor name). in any case it was a very impressive and intimidating look!

WHM 45, "Thank you for inviting me into your party, unfortunately I'm not that rich and spells are expensive so all I have is Cure; But my club skill is at 90!" O_o

good thing it was a joke!

I like players with a sence of humor though... you should see his Raise Macro!

OMG LOL, raise but no MP!

(Second worst is probably when a WHM wants to invite a second one into the party "to make his job easier." When you remove a damage dealer to replace with another healer, fights take longer. Because of that, you get xp slower and have to heal more, which offsets any lowered downtime the extra healer creates. By far the most annoying thing about this was in leveling in Qufim and Kazham when one party would have 2 WHMs and there would be a dozen people sitting around LFG because there were no free healers.)

That is actually false, 2 Whm benefit a group in many ways, and 1 way is chaining.

With a round robin approach their is absolutely no downtime and you can chain to extradonairy levels only limited to the amount of fodder you have.

Example, clippers or anything that gives 60+ xp or so but relatively easy to kill .

4 wars or melee class, 2 whm's

4wars attack the mob, 1 whm does the all the healing while the other rests. They kill 4-5 of them, and if experienced wars can provoke off each other so that the damage is spread out and when the whm is finally close to losing mp, finish the last battle, get a divine seal/curaga in, wars are back up and the next healer takes over with full mana and his divine seal good, and repeat indefinitely, as long as theirs fodder.

The "downtime" that you speak of simply doesnt exists and your making weak easy to kill mobs into big xp mobs with no effort.

In the White Mage defense, a lot of times I see this:

Monster hits Tank 40 damage.
WHM begins casting Cure on Tank.
Monster hits Tank 40 damage.
WHM begins casting Cure on Tank.
Monster hits Tank 40 damage.
WHM begins casting Cure on Tank.
Monster hits Tank 40 damage.
WHM begins casting Cure on Tank.
Monster hits Tank 40 damage.
WHM begins casting Cure on Tank.
Tank: Why don't you use cure II, I'm getting too close to death!
WHM: Because you don't use provoke and I can't take a hit

Monster hits Tank 40 damage.
WHM begins casting Cure on Tank.
Tank: USE CURE II!!! I'M TAKING TOO MUCH DAMAGE!!!
WHM: Fine!

WHM begins casting Cure II on Tank.
Monster hits WHM 90 damage.
whm casting is interrupted
Monster hits WHM 90 damage.
WHM is defeated by Monster.
Monster hits Tank 40 damage.
Monster hits Tank 40 damage.
Monster hits Tank 40 damage.
Monster hits Tank 40 damage.
Tank is defeated by Monster
tank: d00d, yer healing skills suck. you suck as a whm!
whm: o.O

(Of course, its a little over simplified, but happens too much. Reasons why there aren't many WHM left? Because everyone's getting tired of putting up with this)

Then again, I agree that there some...unfavorable...WHM's out there.

"I'm going to spend the next couple of fights nuking, I need to get my Divine Skill up"

"Don't wait for me, go ahead and pull. I'll have MP by the time you get back..."
"no, not enough MP back, I'm going stay down till I'm full"

"I'm going to trade off healing duties with the RDM. I'm kneeling for this fight"

"I don't need to heal you, you aren't tanking"

"Divine Seal is such a useless ability"

"Don't worry, the poison will wear off in a minute, I'll heal you then."

"I can't heal you, it'll break my Invisibility"

"I don't see the point in casting Paralyze, it doesn't do that much for us"

"I don't use macros, I haven't figured them out. Oh well, I heal fine without them."

"Hey, did you guys walk off? Where is everyone?"

"Spells are too expensive. I'm planning on just waiting TO BUY SPELLS til i buy Curaga and Raise"

But, oh, the very best and very worst thing I've ever seen in a combat:

WHM starts casting warp on WHM.

And I'm not joking. It was the middle of Combat...

Hehe, I was reading this yesterday thinking, "I've been lucky to have mostly descent whmg" Well.... Last night I got inv to join a pt in the nest, so we all standing and I take a moment to look at everyones jobs, and our whmg is sub'ing a warr. I'm kind of interested so I ask "Warr sub help alot" and he say's wanted higher defense, and I'm sick of dying. Ok makes some sense, then our crazed whmg wants me and our rdmg to heal so he can raise club skill. Hmmm not best Idea, so we talk him into curing some, then he gets so angry he's like I don't feel like healing, and left mid-pull. BTW my party loves escape. =)

>>"I'm going to spend the next couple of fights nuking, I need to get my Divine Skill up"
I do this also as i nuke/heal, why not it does damage and it helps us..we dont complain when you change weapons to get other ws up, then dont complain when we raise our skills.

>>"Don't wait for me, go ahead and pull. I'll have MP by the time you get back..."
Done this and it works, why wait til full when another 1 or 2 ticks will get you full mana then you have to wait on voker?

In defense of White Mages everywhere, I thought I should point out some of my practices:

"Don't wait for me, go ahead and pull. I'll have MP by the time you get back..."
This is true, as a WHM I will get MP back once the puller returns, this is not always bad to say.

"no, not enough MP back, I'm going stay down till I'm full"
I do this as well, the truth is that HP/MP regen exponentially the longer you sit, which means it is more effecient to go in bursts (ie: chains) and then rest and heal up full, instead of doing little half-heals.

"I'm going to trade off healing duties with the RDM. I'm kneeling for this fight"
If this is possible, why not?

"I don't need to heal you, you aren't tanking"
If you're healing between battles you dont need my MP. If you can't heal between battles b/c of TP then I will heal you if you are in yellow.

"I don't use macros, I haven't figured them out. Oh well, I heal fine without them."

In defense of this, I actually find it much faster
to just use the menu with the F1-6 keys, at least while
healing. But that's just me. The last thing you want
is for the WHM to accidently hit the windows key.

I do use macros for debuffs, as I can just use the wait
command and do two with one click.

"Even I do more dmg than you"
I said that twice, the dragoon and monk wasn't too happy after everyone start staring at their 0-2 dmg -.- Didn't take too long til the PT leader kick them out for strategic reasons. I wouldn't have said it if they didn't tick me off in the first place ^^

At Qufim, lvl 21
Drg: Why don't you use cure II?
Whm: Cause I just got it.
Drg: So what? It heals more.
Whm: You obviously haven't played whm before.
Drg: I have a whm at lvl 27
Whm: And you still haven't figured out Cure is more efficient than Cure II at this lvl
Drg: You are a n00b
Whm: Ok guys, let's ditch this ******* -.-
Then it proceed to a tell from the drg containing profanity before the whole group and the group next to us blacklisted him ^^

I am the whm btw. :P
(One reason I hate dragoons, a lot of them are idiots -.-)
And if you agree with the dragoon, then you need to pay more attention to your healing in the early 20s :P Cure II at this point is ONLY for emergency heals (orange-red)

If someone gives you that old Windows Key bit call them on it. They fixed it so it doesn't kick you out anymore. Test it out in town. You can jam it all you want and you won't get booted to DT.

I played WHM to 19 as an Elvaan. I had +6 to MND i think, at that point.

Cure 2 was healing at it's 90hp cap at that point. So when you say it's not worth it into mid-20's I think you might be wrong. Was your Healing skill capped? Did you have +MND equipment? I then leveled WAR to 30, and I don't think I would have survived Quifim without WHM hitting me with Cure 2. When a mob hits you for 30+ damage every hit, having a whm cast cure 1 for +30hp just doesn't cut it. Maybe you typo'd and meant Cure 3.
