I'll cherish the day that a GM mistakenly (whether through false evidence or bravado) tries to "regulate" on me. I'd summon Avermouth: God of Verbal Torrents. He'd use his Mental Break ability, and the fight would end with the GM agreeing with me. Maybe he'd even give me a stack of Mithkabobs as recompense for troubling me. Poor GM. :-D

/snicker

I have a feeling the fight would end with you staring at a black "You have been disconnected..." screen after about 8 words or so....

[quoteI suggest finding out who his superior is and taking a complaint about the service directly to that person.[/quote]

I actually did ask for his superiors name and he said that the only way to talk to someone above him was to file a complaint through the POL viewer. He was quite rude with me and then blacklisted me. Every time I attempted to send him a message, I got the reply "This message is undeliverable. The user is either offline or changing areas." I'm extremely upset about this, but unfortunately I'm one of 500,000+ people paying for this game. My opinion isn't exactly going to change anything.

Thanks for posting those pictures. I didn't even know jail existed in this game. Could you run around in jail or were you forced to sit the whole time?

But yep, I know what you mean, its always kind of neat to go to a new area, even if it happens to be jail. Not that I'm gonna run around shouting offensive slurs to get there, but its good to know that it exists.

Well, not to buck the trend, but my only experience with a GM was a good one. :) I play on Kujata and I was fishing on the fishing guild's dock in Winhurst when *bam*, I fell through the dock and landed on the ocean floor. I was getting ready to log of anyway so I logged out thinking it might reset me to my last HP. It didn't. So when I logged back on (after running around for a little while to see where the ocean ended and if I could get anyone to notice me from the dock above) I called a GM. I got a reply "Heard you are having trouble?", "Yeah, I was fishing and then I fell through the dock", "Hang in there, I'll save you dude!". And in a minute I was back on the dock, that's more or less it. I thought they were pretty cool and had a good sense of humor. I have some pictures of the bottom of the dock. I'll try to post one.

Hi all, I'm the noobiest noob there is, I'm quite sure. I don't even have the game yet. I'm currently addicted to evercrack and have been thinking about giving FFXI a shot when it comes out for PS2. Well last night my brother came back to town and we talked for hours about EQOA and FFXI. Sounds to me like they took a poll of EQOA players and asked what they could do to make it better and made FFXI. I've heard some negative remarks from EQOA players who were on FFXI beta, but nothing specific. One thing that really perked my ears was my brother telling me about how kind the players are on FFXI as I was telling him stories of training, kill stealing, tanks getting screwed on repairs (looting problems), gm's not giving a shiit... He said nah, people are great, no repairs, training is not possible like it is in EQOA. But then I come here, and I'm reading about some of the same stuff, and have even already seen some questionable posts from people on here. I told my brother two things, he's still new to this game (FFXI), he's only been playing three weeks, up to level 22 I think, so maybe he hasn't seen the uglier side of the game yet. My other point was, there may be a whole lot of questionable/immature people coming in when they open the game to PS2.

I'm wondering if there are any former or current EQOA people on FFXI and this site who have any opinions for me. Thank you in advance to anyone who gives me any insight and or suggestions, GL!

I wouldn't judge the typical FFXI behavior by these message boards. This is where people typically come to vent about bad things.

Personally, I rarely have any problems with people (the worst being dropped from a party after being invited and running all the way over there, but I got another one instantly)), and more often then not people are quite polite even when they don't have to be. To me, finding polite people and adding them to my friends list is a way of ensuring I'll always be able to travel with good people.

But then, I don't provoke situations, so perhaps it's a matter of reaping what you sow.

Xenuear is an idiot....

First of all he can't spell.

Second he has been warned by a GM for making stupid comments no doubt.

Third he calls GM's for stupid reasons and not for what their jobs are.

Fourth and foremost he probably doesn't even know what his job is in a party. Please do not follow his example. This will be a much better world without retards.

-Thank You

Only time that I have ever had a GM experience is when someone in my LS had a pearlsack and started kicking all non-sack holders. The owner of the LS quit the game I think....so someone called a GM. The GM was very good about it. He told us there was nothing he could really do about it but suspended the guy for profanity. He suggested we start a new LS and not invite him...so thats what we did :). I kneeled respectfully before the GM and he bowed to me then warped. I like the armor too =)
