My first experience with a GM was a bad one, one that probably ruined GMs in my eyes forever. I'm still mad about it.
Chapter One: The Good Samaritan
There I was, doing the Zi'tah supply run. The method I use for supply runs is to chocobo out there, link to HP then sneak my way back to the nearest crag or outpost I've allready gotten teleport from. Then head back home, get supplies, cast warp then use my newly unlocked teleport to get back home! Great plan!..
-Only this time I forgot my sneak oils and prism powder and the two agressive enemies out here are (duh) Goblins and Bats. I ask around, see who is in the area and equipped a Windurst LS to ask the folk there for a possible escort. Nadas. Do a search. Nadas. Check friend list. Nadas. Oh well! Looks like this Taru is in trouble. I try to sneak home, and don't get very far before getting squished. Wah! Fine, return to Homepoint. *SPLAT*
Huh? WHat??! Turns out there was a goblin CAMPING MY SPAWN POINT. That's right, hanging out right at the outpost waiting to kill people and kill me he did.
Okay that had to be a fluke.. maybe I can wait for him to walk off then spawn and run around the building to hide.. (wait wait wait)
Aha! He's gone! (respawn) *SPLAT*
Apparently the goblin was still locked onto me or maybe god didn't like me or whatever as the Goblin wasn't even on screen and got to kill me again.. then wandered up to camp my 'spawn' point proper.
[this is how leaping lizzy feels! leave her alone!]
Fine.. ask the LS for anyone willing to help in any way. I'm not going to rehash all the responses, but it basically came down to: They didn't care. or They didn't want to help.
At this point I just want to log out have supper and do something else. But you can't log out when you're dead. Finally, this total stranger named Ellisd came on and suggested "Hey, why don't you call a GM?" I responded that I can't while dead. so Ellisd called a GM for me.
A complete stranger helps me, when folk I've PTd with since day one refused to. Wow. Anyway.. on to Chapter Two:
Chapter Two: The stupid-head GM
Apparently Ellisd didn't have much luck communicating with the GM, not that there was no GM... the issue was more of a "This GM is pretty dumb" sort of thing. The GM finally contacts me and immediately scolds me for not placing the GM call myself. I explained to the GM Avalgida that I can't log out, everytime I reset to Homepoint I IMMEDIATELY die. Please help
The GM refuses to help. At all. Stating that she cannot interfere with gameplay. I respond that my gameplay is allready interfered with, that I am unable to move, logout, or reset to homepoint. The GM tells me to crash my computer if I want to log out.
Yes, the GM tells me to crash my computer.
Just to make this perfectly clear, the GM tells me to CRASH my computer. Telling me various methods. Alt+Tab, Windows Key, yanking the power.. etc etc (Btw, ALT TAB and Windows key do no crash my FFXI, they do nothing. odd..) The GM leaves.
So that's my experience with the GM. The story goes on quite a bit, and eventually (FOUR AND A HALF HOURS LATER) I did get an escort to zone. Lost whole bunches of EXP that day.
