At random times on Quetziquatal(sp) and Fenrir I've seen a disturbing pratice. People are camping the area behind the lighthouse and jump bernie when someone initiates the spawn. Has anyone else encountered this?

Also why I know it's rude, I'm really not sure it is against the TOS or if I should even bother to report it. I also wouldn't be upset if they were just taking bernie after someone died to him, but they are actually sniping the spawn.

I don't know if it breaks any TOS rule, but it is rather rude. I would prolly alert a GM about it just in case. Maybe they can scout the area and catch the people that are doing it and shake their finger at them. "Tsk tsk tsk!"

What do you mean by intiate? Do you mean to get Bernie to spawn? Cause Bernie is fair game until someone engages him whether youve been there for 6 weeks and staked out your own claim with a deed signed by the San dOrian authorities. Doesnt matter.

When hunting Bernie, you should just have someone you trust party with you and stand by where Bernie spawns and initiate when he comes out. Then if you need the items he drops, you can have the other person pass the items to you or whatnot.

When I hunted him, I had someone else with me so it never became a problem.

You don't wait for Bernie to spawn, you trade a quus to a bush and make him spawn, he drops a clock you need to finish a quest in bastok. He's not some rare monster anyone needs to fight over. People that would take him after you have made him appear are either ignorant to what he is and think they are snatching some rare monster, or just trying to be bothersome.

That's what I'm saying. You give the fishie, and he spawns. He usually spawns in the same place, so you can just have someone wait by that place while you trade the fish.

Bushes are notorious for liking to have fish shoved in them.

You put the Quus on the ground to attract Bernie, he likes these fish you see, so when he smells one or whatever crabs do to find there food, he comes out of the rocks; that is when you beat on him till he stops moving and take the clock he stole.

It is against the EULA, it is a minor quest, but you are interfering with someones ability to play the game as intended. Bernie is part of a quest, he has no other purpose. It would be like someone nabbing the Forger when someone else triggered it for their Samurai Quest, and I doubt that would be taken lightly. Bernie may cost only 150G, Forger costs 7000G, but the point is the same.

There are three possibilities:
1. These people don't know what Bernie is.
2. These people are ********.
3. These people can't afford 150 gil for their own Quus.

Somebody did that to me on Bismarck server. It turns out he didn't know Bernie was a spawn that you had to lure out with the quus. He just saw the thing spawn and since I was delayed in getting to it (it was my first time doing the quest and I was looking for him) he grabbed the mob first. Gave me a quus back when I talked to him about it. But if people are doing this repeatedly then yes -- they're just being jerks.
