First off, I am only level 24 and this is my experience. I welcome other's input if you think it will help!

I have 1 macro just for buffing
/p Bring 'em on
/ma "Enthunder" <p0>
/wait 5
/ma "Blaze Spikes" <p0>
I use that when i see the puller is headed out, or before i pull in a duo or solo.

Soloing or duoing with a Non-tank:
I duo with my RL GF a 24 Blk/Wht all the time. my Macro for that is :
/p Pulling a <t> be ready!!
/ma "Bind" <t>
/wait 6
/ma "Paralyze" <t>
/wait 6
/ma "Blind" <t>

there is enough time in between the casting of Bind and Paralyze to attack as well. After the macro i immediatly cast Slow, and the Black mage nukes from bind on. I use Cure2 as a psudo-taunt (which works pretty well, but should never be a full time substitute in a party) we can take IT's or EXP chain a couple of toughs.

In a party with a main healer:
I change it up a little. with tanks in a group there is no need to bind cause you want them to fight, so I use
/p Enfeebleing..
/ma "Paralyze" <t>
/wait 6
/ma "Blind" <t>
/wait 6
/ma "Slow" <t>

In a group with a white mage I always heal the White, because healing himself is just more hate. I make sure to let him/her know at the start of the fight. I also start with Paralyze first cause its the longest cast time.

In a group AS the main healer:
I don't like to be the main healer. here is why:
1. Red's only do it half assed cause of low MP.
2. A lot of people I have grouped with(especially Qufim) don't realize that just cause I have cure2 doesn't mean I am a White mage. see #1...hehe
3. If I wanted to play a White Mage, I would. Red isn't White. period. See # 1...hehe
OK now that that's off my chest, in real situations often I am the only option as a healer, which is why I sub a white(and bring Pineapple juice if i know I will be MH). I know this and will do it for the good of the party, but only after i tell everyone at the formation of a group that we need to be orgonized and Specific as to what we are doing. No one like dieing, and I'd rather Chain T's then be at risk. When a Red is the only healer I only cast Protectra, and Cures and Slow. I like it if someone with a Wht or Red sub cures me to avoid extra hate and I act like a White should, I keep my sword Sheathed and sit...(why I don't like it)
My favorite story is in Qufim, we had a PT of 4. a monk a black mage a War and myself a 22 Red at the time. The War was 20 and pulling. after a few fights the monk sends me a tell saying I don't think he's Provoking at all"...hehe Yea he's an idiot, but he's all thats on, i said. in /p chat i tell the War that he needs to provoke more often and he says...and I quote..."If I provoke, they will only Hit me and I may die!" The other 2 ppl in the group instantly sent me tells to dump him...lol! I didn't, thinking we could train him and so we tried... 2 pulls later he doesn't provoke again, the mob attacks me(an IT Clipper that HE pulled) and I cure myself before i die with a cure2 the clipper heads back to him and he dies cause I am out of MP from healing the Black mage and monk...
Lesson to the story? Wars can take lots more Hits and everyone wants the mob to hit the War cause with all that heavy gear, a hit to you is nothing maybe say 20 hps but if you don't taunt and it hits the Black Mage it will hurt a lot more, or worse the mob goes after your healer and interupts the casting. Needless to say we booted him. I was in tells for another 10 minutes trying to explain it to him, but I don't think he will ever get it..."If I provoke, they will only Hit me and I may die!"...LOL #1 wrong thing for your WAR to say... I hope that this stram of Rambleing helps at least someone and If I can improve in any way please share!!

I agree with your post on all but the not pulling your weapon. As a mage that needs to throw cures it would be a good idea to pull your weapon simple because you can unlock the mob and move your curser to another player if need be but if the mob comes at you and no one has provoke you get a couple of hits off that would help yourself as well as the group out. I will always pull my weapon if I am main healer or not (once in a while if the mob is weak enough I don't, Galka RDM =]) maybe I won't pull it if enough members in a party have provoke then I "should" be safe. But you do point out alot of good ideas when it comes to playing as a RDM which is a very odd job, but I still love it.

Ok maybe yer right, but I would advise breaking off a little early if things are going well to sit. It would help in the next pull.
