Starting Rings and TravellingFollow

well, i've finally done it. i ordered FFXI yeaterday and am waiting for it to get here, so in the meantime i'm finding out all i can about it. i've decided on a hume red mage. here's my dilemma: i'm not sure as to whether the starting ring is worth it. i would like to start in windurst, because there's alot there i want: the weaver's guild is right there and i want to do weaving, my friends who already play say it's good a place to start, i can get most of my starting spells there, etc... But i'm not really sure whether the hume starting ring is worth it or not. i've heard that you can change citizenship, but i'm not sure. should i go ahead and start in windurst and miss out on the ring, or start in bastok, get the ring, and just forget about windurst?
(keep in mind, i'm not looking for opinions on which job to pick, only on the starting city)

i say start wherever u want, the starting ring becomes obsolete after a while so it wont matter in the long run. it just helps a little bit in the beginning of the game.

You'll probably be shedding the ring in no time. But you'll be kicking yourself in the @$$ for the rest of the game for not choosing exactly what you wanted in the first place.
