Im only 22 but I have been playing video games since I was just a young tyke. I love them. But I still played sports and worked and all the fun stuff. haha. But Im glad the ages verie. it makes the game experiance more enjoyable.

i read somewhere that the average age of a gamer is now like 26 and there are more 28+ yr old women than 12-17 yr old guys ^^

I'm 32 and loving the gaming lifestyle. My boyfriend is 35 and we both game (sometimes together). So the other answer is "no, I don't get in trouble for playing." B/c he is sitting at the other comp playing too! :)
I am just glad that the answer didn't come back "Dude...your old.....get a life!' because I love gaming.
Great to see so many 'older' gamers! Heck yeah I'm 30 and if you really have a love of gaming, it's not something you 'grow out of' - most of my RL friends around the same age still play console & pc games as well.
I'll be 23 in a couple weeks. I could give less of a **** how old the people I'm playing with are, as long as they're still fun to play with. I don't mind playing with 12 year olds, and I don't mind playing with 50+ year olds. I'd be ecstatic if my mom wanted to play an online game with me, but she just rolls her eyes. =P

20 in may here, played Final Fantasy 1, 2, 3, 7, a little of 8, then I didn't get a PS2 so I didn't play 9 or 10, or 12 yet. I hate consoles nowadays, I liked it better when there was basically only Nintendo and Super Nintendo. Now all the cool games are split up between all the consoles, you gotta get all the consoles to be able to play all the games you want, and I don't wanna do that.
yeah, and I get a lot of **** for playing FFXI from my coworkers, everyone thinks it's a little kid game hehe, the Tarus aren't making us look any cooler people.

since there are so many more mature ppl than i realized, i wonder if there are mature linkshell groups i can join....
I work for Best Buy, and I see folks come in and browse through the MMO section all the time. Of course, I recommend FFXI over the others and so I see a wide variety of people purchase the game. About 2 weeks ago, an elderly gentleman came by, and was asking about the game, and I asked him if he was purchasing it as a Christmas present for a grandchild. He tells me that he's actually purchasing it for himself, after breaking a recent EQ addiction. He then said "I know you're wondering how old I am, so I'll save you the embarrassment of asking; I'm 79". ....Wow. I'm still surprised, I told him to try and get on the Odin (my) server using the create/delete method, so hopefully I'll hear from him some day. I think this guy has to be the oldest, hands down.

I don't think anyone with a hobby has the right to criticize us gamers because we choose a pass time that includes the word "game."
When I met my girlfriend, she gave me attitude about "computer games" - once I showed her how complex and strategic some of the games I was playing were, she came around and now I never get bothered about it (despite logging 9 days online within 2 months).
Perhaps we should rename our hobby - instead of gaming, maybe "strategic simulations" or some crap like that. That way we can maintain our images as adult while continuing our beloved pass-time.
