My NPC's been lvl60 for the longest time. I can't start the Mixed Signals quest. I've been trying to talk to Ratoto and Luto every chance I get in Upper Jeuno, but I've been unable to start the quest. Is there a prerequisite or something that I need to do?

Thanks if you can help me out.

Rumor has it that giving your NPCs new weapons at upgrade points will only modify the look of the weapon they carry, but their damage will increase regardless of what weapon you give them. Is this true?

Does anyone actually still play and experiment with there npcs any more?

Just seeing if anyone else has ever experienced this:

Was lving lv5-6ish cor in Windy with npc trying to get him some pants (otherwise he shows up in subs x.x). Ended up in a tough fight were I was under 10% health and my npc buddy was under 1/6th by the end of it. Just as whatever it was we where taking died an EM gob digger wandered up and started attacking (I swear he smelled me out from 1/2 a zone away). Auto attack switched to him and I landed a score before I even realized the gob was on us, but it still caused my npc to engage. Now mind, as a lv5-6 cor my npc had no trouble getting hate off me. He did so gladly and in one hit had the mobs full attention x.x (that's maxed out npc weapon for you I suppose). With me at 10% health and my npc at about 1/6th his bar verses an EM mob I figured we where going down. Yes I could have run but I always hate seeing my npc take a dive so I tried my best stick it out with my buddy. (BTW 2hr was not ready…not that COR 2hr is anything to get overly excited about especially on a bum roll) EM was having no trouble whittling down what little hp my poor npc had left. By the time my npc had just a few pixels in his bar the mob was barely even dented...maybe 1/10th life missing. Then, out of the blue, my npc called on blessed radiance like he had in the lv50 bcnm final fight and one shot the gob. Promptly after this he disappeared saying quota was up (which it very well could have been I wasn't keeping count) and poofed. Free 100 xp for me.

Has anyone else ever seen there npc used Blessed Radiance outside the lv50 bcnm fight? I've tried to recreate it but have yet too. I'm not sure but both npc and player might have to be under 10% hp before the npc will use it.

Here's some random info...
Npc: Chanandit (aka: Chan)
Race: Male Elvaan
Job: Fierce Fighter
Weapon: Maxed GK
Real Lv: 55
Capped Lv: 5-6
Have done all but the final cap break for him quest wise.
Have all hats.
3 locked items at the time of event.
Said something to the effect of “Blessed Radiance help me defeat this fiend.” When he used the skill.

Me: Allia
Race: Hume
Job: cor
Weapon: cheep *** sword XD
Lv: 5-6 (probably more the 5 than the 6)
2hr: 45m remaining
Said something to the effect of “Wtf?”

Mob: Goblin Digger (the ******)
Race: Gob
Job: Rapeage and tease choco diggers
Weapon: piddly dagger and bombs
Lv: 5-6
Time to locate something to rape: 10s
Said something to the effect of “Rawrg.”

Sadly I was not able to get a screen shot of it since I was on a diff computer than my usual at the time. If I can remember any more details I’ll add them in later. I'll also get a screen shot of it if he ever does it again...kind of hard to recreate nearly dying though.

Not sure if this was mentioned, but Stalwart Shield NPCs now get Auto-Refresh, I assume same level as PLD (35?). Since they also get other PLD traits (Undead Killer) it's reasonable to assume that they get Shield Mastery too.

Blessed Radiance is your npc's 2hr move. They learn it after you complete that quest and will use the move when you both have low hp. There is some speculation as to how much hp you and your npc need to trigger it. Also, I don't believe it's actually been confirmed that it has a 2hr cooldown time.

Blessed radiance kicks in if your Npc health goes below the level where he says "dammit im not going down" or whatever your particular npc says. and when you are in red. Has to meet both conditions not just one.

Thank you both for the info. I was not able to locate anything about it in any of the npc overviews/guides I've come across.

One more thing I would like to note before I go back to the woodwork is a quirk about locked gear. If you lock a piece of armor and leave it locked for a few calls, the next time you unlock it and call your npc it will lv after your done even if your npc doesn't get the max number of kills needed to lv the armor.

That is to say, if you lock your armor and make a call, unlocking it will guarantee a lv for it after the next call (sometimes two lvs if you've made a lot of calls between locking and unlocking the gear, as my npc jumped from silk slacks to noble’s slacks this way). Essentially, just make sure you call the next call after an unlock a piece of armor is really where you want to be; because once you call your npc the armor is as good as lved.

Everything your npc has ie weapon or armour is all visual. Depending on what weapon they have the WS they use may have a bonus due to mob weaknesses but that's it.

Armor is just a visual touch, Weapon change does indeed raise damage potential, thats why the actual Armor system changes just using your Npc and for the Weapon upgrades you need to actually trade the weapons and have enough Npc bond.

That said the damage is not that of the weapons traded (in that sense they are only a visual touch), but every Weapon Upgrade raises the damage cap of the Npc.

So theoretically, SE raises the weapon upgrade limit, I give my NPC the newest and highest upgrade, and give her back the Kamayari and she should do the damage of the highest upgrade, but keep the weapon model of the Kamayari? She's in full Hara-ate set (except the gloves - /sigh why only 3 armor locks?) and the Kamayari spear fits so nicely with that setup.

Still not a peep from SE about any new enhancements/quests for the NPC Fellows in the next update.

Have they forgotten about it? Are there not enough NPC Fellows at Level 65 yet for them to worry about adding new quests and features?

I'd at least like to have the NPCs available in the new areas of ToAu. ;;

as with others, i am hopeing that we can call npc's in the new areas with the next update. just like with CoP, it was a lil while till we could. although, i am curious to know how calling our npc's in ToAU will affect thier armor if at all.

As much as I'd really love to be able to call npc in ToAU areas, I think it's probably gonna be a few more updates before that happens, since it's still prety crowded over there.

And sadly probably gonna be an update or 2 til any npc updates since they're busy with all the other new stuff.

But for now could they could AT FREAKING LEAST ADD THE LAST DAMN *)^%$#-*&^%@#$ ARMOR LOCK!!!

*breathes deep* I'm all right now... really..

I know using the "Let's chat" option at rendezvous points increases your NPC bond by 1 point... but I doubt sitting there and clicking Let's chat over and over will raise your bond once each time. So, what do you have to do to get 1 point of bond? Here are my theories:

1. You have to tell Nanako "nevermind" at the Rendezvous Point and then call for her again, and say Let's chat, repeat
2. You have to rezone every time you say "Let's chat"
3. You can only use "Let's chat" to get a point once between every time you use your pearl.
4. You can only use "Let's chat" once every in-game day, real life day, conquest update, etc.

Which, if any, of these are true?

If ur npc tells you something about the emptiness at the rodevous point (after clicking lets talk about quests)the you can call her at the rendevous poing thats like right near the zone of any of the promys. it will say rondavous point. then you can read above on how to get the tactics pearl. you dont need to use ur pearl to call her in promys.
#1997 Jul 09 2006 at 11:46 AM Rating: Decent
I dont know what the issue is. My NPC is lvl 34 and ive already gotten the windy quest, promy quest, and just got blightened gloom. Even tho she is leveling quite slowly, i do call her every time the pearl is recharged. Calling her at the rendevous point over and over again helps your bond too. By the way, NPS did give me promy quest, but I havent done it yet cause... and i still got blightened gloom, so you dont have to do promy to get it.

To answer your "lets chat" question it only works once per RL day, and gets you the bond equivalent to 1 call.

So... is the NPC buddy dead to SE now? there was a thing at 1up and all they talk about is the new stuff no mention of adding NPC to new areas or to get the NPC off its clif hanger quest story... lv65 NPC siting around and cant even farm in the new areas with it.
so was the cliff hanger story and everything just a gimmick to hype TOAU?
or SE wont mess with NPC till there done with TOAU?
