weee got last lv upgrade on axe + shield finally.

NPC kept the heater shield but ended up using a Retributor most likely.

I'd guess she can be using a tomahawk but that thing is lower lv than the axe required for last upgrade.

Very cool axe, I love the grafix!

Just 3 more calls till I finish adaman armor set for her :D

Too bad I can't lock in all 4 pieces, it lookes so nice as a set :/

Yeah my NPC is 59 too with Ram-Dao, can't wait to see Sickle Moon. Problem is I can't level her alone. Maybe I should start some skill up pts.

Soothing Healer is a white mage, they get Haste at 40 and various -na spells. They also cast much quicker than their NQ tactic.

If you're a thief, polearm is very nice. Every WS they use you can close with Distortion or Detonation with Dancing Edge, excluding Penta Thrust. I started with great sword on my Red Mage, but changed to polearm when I began using Thief regularly. I'd say Staff or Club would be okay if you're lacking on MP. I don't know if NPCs can use it as SH, but in the offchance it uses Spirit Taker or Starlight WS, it'll get a tad bit of MP back. Or they could uses Heavy Swing or Shining Strike for 12 damage or miss, I don't know ^^

Ok, if this has been covered already i'm sorry... but i'm not reading through 39 pages of replies and the forum search seems to never work... so ya.

Anyways, I was reading about the last NPC quest on that ffxi wiki thing, and one thing I noticed is someone put a comment in about how your NPC will be able to use Blessed Radiance (or something) when you complete that. My question is, just what the heck is that? I know it was saying that your NPC will counter the Blighted Gloom (strong darkness attack) with BR, so is it like some strong light attack your NPC will do? And how do you get them to do it? 2hr or something?

S-E reported a lot of issues regarding npc behavior after the 4/17 update. Anyone notice any changes with their npc?

Quote:
The following issues have been discovered:

- Adventuring fellow would change to a different appearance upon gaining a level. This will last until the next call.

- Adventuring fellow would not move after being called.

- An issue with fixed instead of gradually increasing Hit Point recovery rate under healing mode.

Make sure the quest is active. You have to reactivate it every time by talking to your npc at a R-point and asking about quests.

Blessed Radiance is your npc's 2hr ability but it's not that good. My npc's a 62 Fierce Attacker and her BR only does 200-300 damage against level 70ish (IT+ level) mobs. To put it in perspective she usually hits for 50-80 on regular attacks and does about 450 with Tachi: Yukikaze. She'll use BR when I have yellow hp and she has around 25% hp.

Not sure if anyone's said anything about it in this thread, but I am not the slightest bit impressed with Fierce Attacker as an advanced job.

As my NPC has been an Attacker since I got the ability to change their jobs, I thought I'd easily be able to see the difference when I got it upgraded to Fierce Attacker. But... I really can't.

He's used a Scythe-type weapon for a while now. His weapon skills were the four any Scythe-users could use level 34+ - Slice, Dark Harvest, Shadow of Death and Nightmare Scythe. He used them pretty evenly, suggesting the choice of which to use is simply random.

Now he's a Fierce Attacker, none of that has changed a bit. He still uses all four skills, and he still uses them evenly. I was hoping there'd be better capability for them to finish skillchains, or more adaptability in starting them so they'd eventually learn to only use the skills I want them to (Dark Harvest and Shadow of Death), but they really don't. It's still all four, chosen at random.

He's also no stronger or more accurate than when he was a normal Attacker, and the Double Attack rate appears to be exactly the same (actually, it appears to be a little less, but I doubt they'd do that, so I'm chalking it down to bad luck those last few calls).

Basically, the only addition I've found at all when my NPC became a Fierce Attacker is that now he gives me a warning when he hits 90%.

Which really isn't worth it.

I wouldn't call that a 2hr ability, but since the conditions fo the NPC to do it are pretty specific to when a PC uses a 2hr it's close enough to count. When you cap NPC at lower levels it will get you out of a very hairy situation.

Noticed something.

In upper Jueno, near the homepoint, there's this new NPC from the up and coming expansion pack that sticks a badge on you.

After getting that badge, I went to Luto...and she saw it... No other NPC has reacted to it yet but her...

There's about 20 other people you need to talk to involving that quest. Examine it under 'Key Items' and you'll get the <pos> of each of those NPCs in each Jeuno zone. You get a "White Invitation" (or something to that effect) when you complete it, and you're told to take it to Al Zhabi, one of the new cities.

not sure if anyone has mentioned this but Stalwart Sheild NPC's also got auto-refresh. was duoing in CN trying to get the last few hundred xp to hit 44 on my pld, and during a fight in which he used his normal 2 cure 4s on himself he also got poisoned at the end, i walked around looking for another mob since i couldn't rest him up and in the next fight he used a cure 4 again. I thought it was weird so after that fight i hit the talk option till he said "my reserves are almost empty" i just stood there for a bit and the talked again and he gave me the "reserves are 1/2 full" waited more talked again "my reserves are full" it should be noted he doesnt give the same reserves are full announcement he does when you purposely rest him.

Sadly my friend, there is a badge in every nation for a total for 4 badges/invitations. If you look in you key item you will find the <pos>s for all the NPC you need to talk to. Each zone has 4-5 npcs so each badge has 16-20 total npcs to talk too. If you are really bored, you can do all four wildcat quests for a total of 64-80 npcs. Fun! Fun! Fun! I enjoyed this was much as the Windshear Hat quest when I talked to every NPC in the zone and still did not get the hat. >.<

But, you did sum it up nicely in those three precious words.

LS Mate could not summon his NPC in the ToAU areas. I assume this will be added in later like CoP areas were.

As far as I have tested, NPCs cannot be called in ANY ToAU zone.

This is really dissapointing - there are a lot of areas that would be perfect for leveling them from 60-65 there too...

Any new quests with Aht Urhgan? If you look at the covers of the games, one looks like the mirror of Blighted Gloom(Xbox 360) and the other of Blessed Raidence(PC).

I was disappointed to find this out today too. With the NPC quests tying into the Aht Urghan storyline, I think a lot of us were hoping that the expansion would be designed with NPCs in mind... I'm thinking of things like Assault missions that allow (or better yet, require) fellowship NPCs to come along.

Hopefully they'll at least support NPC calls in the new areas soon.

My NPC Fellow is leveling ahead of me. Today it hit lvl 52 while on my highest job (lvl 51). It's official, everybody is racing to lvl 75 passing me in levels and now my NPC fellow is doing the same...

On the topic of ToAU. This kinda sucks I was hoping (and expecting) that they would add more content for the NPC fellows.
Hopefully they will activate calling your NPC in these areas later.
