most of the good newb things were taken but I remeber my first day last nov. and someone told me to get signet to get crystals. I proceed to fight outside and i was getting tons of items. When my inv was full (very quickly) I kept seeing that i was getting items and they weren't showing in inv so i tried to find the 2nd and 3rd inventories. After awhile I just started droping some things to get others. Well long story short someone tells me to try auto-sort =p.

Oh yeah and I sold tons of crystals to shops because people said you make money selling crystals. ACK. I was like "what f*cking money?" lol

This wasn't really that funny but it was definitly odd.

me fishing in Bastok Mines
noob Galka Monk walks up
noob: Is this where I fight stuff?
me: ? Try going outside and killing some bees.
noob walks off without saying a word

Of course there are a few stupid things it have done myself.

Like so many other people, when I fist logged in and the NPC was talking to me I thought it was a real person and was trying to talk back. Also I couldn't understand why I couldn't move ^^.

Then there was the first time that I discovered F8 targeting. I was a black mage in Valkrum fighting snippers. I hit F8 and then my spell macro not paying attention to what I have targetted. The next thing I knew I was face to face with a Pugil (_ _)

F# commands are fun, they make your lives easier when targeting things...depressing part is, I learned how to use those at...level 25 or so -_-

Oh yeah, another on my end. Level 32 and I learned that you can set prices of the things you put up on the AH. :) I always put in the 1 or 5 gil or whatever it asked for. See, higher level people aren't always smart ;)

Anywho, another for your enjoyment:

Went to levelup my SMN the other day in Qufim, was doing good until party had to replace people, then it turned crappy. The main healer WHM/BLM (pretty sure) eventually kept saying to me (SMN/RDM):

whm: you need to start doing more healing so it's not me all the time.
me: dude, I'm a smn, I'm using enough mp as it is throughout these fights (OOC: yes, I was nearly draining it all, used what little rdm spells I had to debuff for these poor kids)
whm: no, you gotta start being main healer
me: ...you're a whm
whm: so?
me: heh, no

At this point he just left to get another party and called us stupid. Party eventually broke up, so I switched to my 43rdm at the time and go to showoff in Qufim. I find that little WHM brat still looking for a party, then go solo some giants for a minor immature showcase, but it was fun (and profitable) =D

-_- you gotta wonder about those people

Yet another reason I don't like WHMs ^_^ not all are bad, some are crazy awesome, but somehow like every other party I'm in with my subjob there's some WHM that thinks they're god, and somehow they forget the meaning of Rank 5 when they're like Rank 2 or 3. =P

Well this party was all noobs. I was a fresh lvl 17 thf and the rest were 16 or 17...full party. We decide to fight snips in Valkurm. Our whm had been fumbling with cures and so someone showed her how to macro. She excitedly created a heal macro for <t> and /smiling and /clapping while she cast cure on each of us with her brand new macro (all of us were full and just standing there waiting) I know she was excited so I didn't say anything...well we started fighting and we fell into a sort of groove, surprisingly well for a noob party now that I think of it. Well the puller can't find any IT's or even VT's after a while so they pull a tough. We get ready...its only a tough gunna be easy right? Well fight gets goin...player 6 in prty list was tank. Player 6 disappears...Disconnected. Our whm <t> cure macro that had been targeting player 6 targets the snipper. No one noticed until about 30 seconds later and I scrolled up the log, Now we must have been in one hell of a groove because she was methodical. Every 20 seconds...just as we had seen her heal the tank, she would heal the snip. We were all shouting WTF WTH STOP HEALING IT, apparently she wasnt watching, kept curing it...till she ran out of mp...noticed she was out, and asked why in the hell we hadnt killed it yet. ... ... ... No one died. Luckily we had rdm to backup. She didn't say anything the rest of the time.

I have a great noob story...

I was reading through the Allakhazam forums on a thread about silly things noobs say, and this one person was writing about how the WHM in their group kept curing a mob they were fighting.

If only someone had told this person it isn't possible to cure a mob ;)

although it is possible to waste your mp on the mob, you cast, it just has no effect on the mob.

Yes, this one I can call my own...

We were partying in the dunes. One of the first really good partys I'd been in, so I cared greatly for the wellbeing of my mates.. Our whm was struck down by an IT crab, and me being a L14 war, took full responsibility for it..

/p Dont worry <whm>, I've got a scroll of instant reraise!
<WHM> ...

I swear my intentions were good.. I really wanted to help ; ;
And now, almost 45 levels into my advanced job, I still have the EXACT same scroll of instant reraise.. I mean c'mon, I'd never use the damn thing on myself ><

Hmmm...

Well, I have a few pet peeves, one of the biggest being excessive shout spam. I recently just made it to Jeuno 'for real' (been once before in a fit of utter newbie glory), and was disappointed by all the shout spam. I kept hearing Teleport spam- (selling; not buying) and being a level 20 blm / 10 whm I know the spell sequence for teleports and warps, etc...

Me: /shout Will cast Warp 1 for ONLY 100 GIL! /tell Asenath!
xxx: /shout you mean Warp 2 right??
Me: /shout No! Warp 1! Will cast for 500 LESS THAN AH!
yyy: /shout that only works on you!
Me: /shout Lies! Deception!
Me: /shout PROVE IT!

Trust me- you don't hafto be a 'newb' to be gullible....

(This went on for a while- my LS buddy and I were cracking up)

ok, not so much of a newbie moment, but still not a mark of genious right here... I was in the Nest with my sam around lvl 40 sitting at the top of the pit. A group had been killing beetles just farther in. While im sitting there, all i see is a galka thf with flee on. Poor man had accidentally targeted a caveberry....

Theres nothing more priceless than seeing a galka running in turbo with 9 saplings chasing his @$$ down.

<war> what's this for?
<us> the summoner quest.
<war> i don't wanna be a summoner.
<war> how much do these sell for at the auction house?
<us> you can't sell them.
<war> oh.
<war> does anybody want it?

me: "Yeah but my HP is in jeuno and i have stuff to do in bastok"
noob: "its ok, you don't have to go with me"

AureliusSir: Yes, you CAN cast cure on mobs. it doesnt do anything, however, unless the mob is UNDEAD <ghost, skeleton, etc>. I believe you can also cast Raise on them, but not positive about this. Anyhow, it does real damage to them.

Oh, and i have another story! ^^ just happened last night in my new LS.

(BTW, i often reffer new players to Allakhazam. ^^)

LS Leader: OMG, I cant believe it!
LS: ???
Leader: I did it, i beat the game!
Leader: Now the credits are rolling. This is so cool!
<a couple of minutes later>
Leader: "The End"
Leader: Wow, that was a great game!
Noob: How did you beat it?
Leader: I had to fight the boss ALL ALONE
Leader: Man, that was hard! But it was worth it. I got 1 million gil now!
Noob: You couldnt kill it all alone. You'd need a pt to kill a boss monster.
Noob2: Can i have some gil?
ME: <After reading the log> Oh wow, so the rumors are true!
Noob: What was the boss?
/tell Leader ROFL!
<Leader> Think I'm taking this too far?
/tell Leader Not if youre having fun. ;D
Leader: The boss was a huge polar bear! And yes, I beat it alone.
ME: You mean that black polar bear i keep reading about on Allakhazam?
Leader: Yeah, the one with orange spots.
ME: Awesome! Hey, i wanna beat the game too. Could i have some gil to buy Monster Signa? (im a BRD)
Noob 2: Hey, i want some gil, too!
Leader: Sure, I'll meet you in Jeuno.
Noob: Whats a Monster Signa?

He carried this on for about 10 minutes, and had about two or three of them really drawn in! LOL

Ok, I had been reading the forums for a bit, and I read about anon. Hmmm....I wonder how to go anon...I'll try /anon. For some reason, I had no idea that I would at some point have to go unanon, nor any idea how. I would ask people why my name was blue, and wondered why I never got invited to parties

I was in a PT in the dunes and the leader of the party started barking orders like a drill sargent, and I was a 10 whm and we also had an 11 smn we both knew what we were doing the rest of the party were pretty new. So he goes to the tank and says pull the mobs, and i'm like the tank really should pull, and he follows by saying i'm the leader you do what I say! So then the tank goes I really shouldn't pull (at least he listened to me) Well what does this guy do but boots the tank. I'm like i'm not going to stay in a party where he booted our tank so I left.

Not 10 mins later i'm in another party we are doing fine and I heard someone shout:

"Don't join XXX's party he will will get you killed!" I was cracking up because it was the noob leader of my old party

5 mins after that (His party's don't really last long ^^) he walks up to my new Party and says hey got room, now six of are standing right there, so I go no we are full ATM sorry.

"He says you guys just don't want me in the Party! Come on boot someone and put me in!"

I just found it so funny, anyways maybe he'll learn the hard way not boss people around when you don't know what your are doing!!!

taf- ^^; when in items menu, click on +
then, go to "manual sort"
then click on what you want to separate
then click on it again

you will now have a stack, minus one, and that one at the bottom of the list.

I don't want to get too off topic...this is a great thread. You can CAST Cure on a mob, but you can't actually Cure them...they'll never, ever, EVER get HP back from having a Cure cast on them. I believe the post I was responding to alluded to the fight lasting forever on account of the WHM curing the mob...

In Konschtat Highlands tonight while hunting Tremor Rams, I track one that happens to be chasing a newb at the time. Of course, the newb is shouting, "SOMEBODY PLS HELP!!!" I got within range and keyed my macro for Shadowbind, thinking the newb would keep running and be safe while I killed the Ram for it's horns.

(those of you who have seen it know that if a monster is bound and is not in melee range of it's target, it will attack ANYONE who comes within range, even though the target is claimed by someone else)

It looked something like this:

Aurelius readies Shadowbind!
The Tremor Ram is bound.
<newb takes a couple more steps, then stops running and turns around>
Me>> MOVE!
<pause, Ram hits newb while I key Sharpshot>
Me>> MOVE NOW!!
<pause, Ram hits newb again while I key Barrage>
Newb>> Why are you making it kill me?!?!!
<I key ranged attack macro>
Me>> GET AWAY FROM IT NOW!!
<Ram hits newb again, newb dies>
<ranged attack fires, Ram dies>
Newb /tell to me>> Why didn't you help me?
Me>> Ranger vs. bound Tremor Ram is not a spectator sport. You should have kept running.
Newb>> STFU! You let me die! ???? you ???????!!!! Why was it attacking me not u?!?
Me>> Maybe it had something against ignorant fools
/blist add Newb

This happened 2 days ago, also I feel I should warn you all it's 5am when I write this.
Ok I have what I call a 'newbie LS' (Was given to me when I was leveling a low lv job in dunes THF I think, decided to keep it Great for getting the 'good' karma)
LSnewbie1: Any high lv WHM's out there?
(why do I anwser)Me: Yes, What ya need? (Thought maybe help with a quest..)
LSnewbie1:What lv are u?
Me: Lv50 (Then it hit me what he wants little to late, I'm way to nice for my own good)
LSnewbie1: Holy ****
LSnewbie1:Can you powerlevel me?
Me:Uhmmm...I don't know if I do you then others will ask and so on.
LSnewbie1/tell:It can be our secret.
Me/tell:I'm really very busy.
LSnewbie/tell: Can you get me to lv 28?
Me/tell:What lv are you now?
LSnewbie1/tell: I'll pay you too.
LSnewbie1/tell: lv 18 now.
Me...
LSnewbie1/tell: Hows 2k sound?
Me<--can't decide to laugh or cry.
Me/tell:Look thats so not worth it.
At this point he is jumping between LS and /tell getting his channels mixed up and some how someone else gets into the conversation. Can't rember all the details
LSnewbie1: Please.
Me: Not worth it, I've seen people charge 10k a lv even 15k.
LSnewbie/tell:Please!!
Me/tell:That is 10 lv's.
LSnewbie1:Think about it.
LSnewbie2:Huh what?
(more talking that makes me want to cry. Wish I could remember)
LSnewbie2:Your in the same LS I'm sure he'll give ya a discount.
LSnewbie2:If I was WHM I'd stay in town and make 100k a day.
LSnewbie1:Yah
Me: Changes LS to tell frineds what just happened and give them all a good laugh.

So there it is a newbie who wants 10 lv's for 2k casue it just powerleveling and thats easy to do ^.^;; and a 2 newbies who think being a WHM is easy. Conversations are from memory names have be sensored to protect the innocent and my friends did ask if he ever offered 100k would I do it.
Anwser: No. You mad.

Some mage in our pt in Valkurm (I was playing war) got hit once and took some minor damage. Immediately she (or he) started to yell voke (think it even was a macro, with the !!111 stuff to make it look really important) and the other voked it off her(my voke wasn't ready yet).
After the fight she starts to bash me for not voting, I explained that my voke was still loading at that time..and basically she replied with:

I don't care about that YOU need to voke the mob off me at all times, wether YOU are ready or not! Voke!

Made me giggle when she said that, and ofcourse in the next fight she pulls some havey cast making the mob go after her again, and with my voke still 10 seconds away from being ready..

After that she suddenly left the pt to join another one, 5 minutes later I got a tell from their war asking if we could please take the mage back ^^

yeah, or they are typing whole sentences while running for a zone so the location they gave (by not using the <pos> in the sentence but by viewing the map or something) is absolutely not where they are now..

Funny moment in Saruta: player uses shout to (probably) ask a friend where he is = Where are you?

Massive reply from other players in that region that start telling their pos ^^

I wasn't going to post anything, but the one about the newb wanting to be PLed 10 levels for 2k reminded me of an experience of my own.

A group of newbs on my LS were organizing the Dragon fight for rank 3. I wasn't doing anything so I offered to help. We had 2 WHMs coming. One level 25 and the other level 18. The level 18 didn't seem to realize we had a level 25 WHM and asked if I could powerlevel him to lvl 25 so he could raise us if necessary. Powerleveling a WHM from level 18 - 25, that's enough to make someone cry. (This is also the same guy who asked to be powerleveled as a lvl 2 WHM. And repeatedly insisted that he needed someone to come cast protect on him before he could fight)
