11/2 11am Can't loginFollow

This is interesting to me, because middle of the day Pacific time should not be peak load for EQ (well maybe on AB) right? So then what external factors (Daybreak's login server being located in a busy industrial park where the internet provider is heavily soaked during the day? --no proof of this, I'm just tossing out an example of the kind of non-game consideration that may help explain the time thing).


What if they are being hacked by some kid at school on his/her spare period?

Can anyone pinpoint a time when the login server issues started and match it with a known change? I know that sounds obvious, but if they did something to Legends of Norrath and the login server has been wonky ever since it might not be immediately noted if the two things aren't supposed to impact each other.

Hi Snailish,

Based on my observations, the majority of the issues arise about the same time as db people start to work. With a new expansion coming out, they are making daily updates to the server. Easy to tell there was an update because the login server will tell that an update has been made since the last login. By the time they leave for home, they have fixed many of the big issues which is why those who play at night don't see the overwhelming majority of the issues.

I'm guessing that part of the problem is having only 5 employees that are devs or jr devs does not allow for much, if any, QA. This results is them needing to fix many issues on the fly. The short staff is also why many people are having no luck with any customer service tickets being submitted. For testing purposes I opened 2 cases 8 hours apart from each other and based on ticket numbers, it appears they get several 100 tickets get created a day. That is way more than 5 people who are also coding and supposedly testing can handle. It was a shame when Piestro left, he was the last customer service employee and did a fantastic job. He was also 1 of the few soe people who you could get an honest answer from. Hopefully he is doing well in his current endeavors.

I also should have mentioned that I closed out my test tickets shortly after creating them. No need to add to the problem.

Maybe this is a luxury not everyone can afford, but I leave my toons at the character select screen whenever I camp. That avoids any contact with a troublesome log-in server. I did notice a couple of times when I had to reboot a computer (and hence log out completely) I had some problems logging back in, including one time my Gold account had been turned to Silver and my level 105 magician was turned into a level 100! It took a reboot and a couple tries at logging back in before the account's correct status was restored.

On FV I have never in recent months been booted from the game, except for a known long-term bug with one HA.

Yes, that's entirely anecdotal but worth posting just for more input.

Not sure that ire is directed at me but I do have a job. Zero idea what that has to do with anything. Leaving the game at the character selection and minimizing the window hardly interferes with doing anything else with the computer, if your point is you have to use the computer for other work-related tasks.

I will assume your tone is the result of frustration over your own log-in problems and nothing having specifically to do with anybody's d I c k -ness or lack of d I c k -ness. My comments were only intended to assist.
