So I decided to make my free heroic toon a ranger. I am looking for any ideals of weapons I can farm for him with my 92 mage. I am not to crazy about the weapons he started with
I'm in a similar position having created an 85 heroic Ranger, though I haven't put in the time to play him as yet..
The (2) Heroic Axes of the Woodcutter that it started with is just a shade below the HOT t1 drops but maybe you could go to Grounds and camp the named for the T2 weapons there which are for lvl 82-87 range. But they are not much better stats wise than the heroics for a lvl 85 Ranger.

Level 92 has a good bump up in attunable weapons stats from named in ROF expansion (some often sold in the bazaar ..just for the record)..

The day boosted my ranger to 85 I bought him a req 85 rec 90 bow for around 9k. I think it was heartwood bow?

Fabled Longbow of the Stormcaller is a great easy item to get.... I got one for my Ranger when he was level 65... stat wise its a good bow...
On my ranger which he is level 80 I use Prescient Fleeting Quiver, Ethernere Arrows, Fieldsplitter Shortbow, Darkened Flowing Black Silk Sash, along with haste potions all help. I am able to solo very easily and effectively.

Get to 86 and have a blacksmith craft cultural weapons for you. Extravagant Infused weapons, either pick low delay (the spear or the rapier) or high delay (the spiked mace). You will also need a jewelcrafter to make an augment for it. Illustrious Nimble for 1HB such as the skeptic one posted (it has no proc and no elemental damage so you get no resists), or, if you're using piercing like the spear, you need an Illustrious Penetrating symbol.
Stats for the spear: aug dmg 35 + spear dmg 28 = 63. spear's delay is 19. 19/63=.3015 ratio. The ratio on the HC Ranger weapon is 22dly 55dmg: 22/55=0.400.
Why piercing or blunt? Low delay weapons mean you get more swings, which doesn't mean more procs, but does mean more flurry chance. Or at least that is my understanding of it. Higher delay weapons like on the mace mean higher crit values. Since you have max AA at 85 (supposing you took that option in the AA window) you have max crit AA (veteran's wrath) so this may be the better choice.
There are cultural bows, too! I think fletchers make them. You still need a smith to make part of it, IIRC. Also a JC to make the gem.
