I made the mistake of logging out. It updated the data packet for launch, and now I can't even get back into EQ.

That's kind of funny, because just before I logged out, I said to my guild, "bet someone's hacking the servers."
hey, is anyone actually playing EQ at this time, or is it still down? I can't even get a proper log in page

Kinda sucks that some jackass wannabe hackers think it funny to interfere with my free time. Hopefully it will be bedtime for them soon, followed by arrests and charges.

What's the point in this??
Need some solid information on this issue. If SOE is under attack, I'm certainly not going to allow a launchpad shell update to go forward.
So far this is the only place I know of that has anyone even discussing the issue of lag/crashing/unable to login and I've been looking for info for 60-90 minutes now.

they ddos attacked the isp's for sony. it wasnt really a hack.

Ok, at 7:57 EST I was able to log back online to the Fennin Ro server. For whatever it's worth.

Also, I logged completely off my computer, shut it down for half hour, and now I can log on. If you still can't log on, might I suggest a total shut down (at least 5 min, for the old connection to disengage) and try again?

I said that right after I logged on to Bristlebane. The distributed denial of service attack was against sony's isp's. So not only did the EQ stuff go down but so did play station network and a number of other sony products.

I know this thread is a mite old, but does anyone know of a link to help optimize a computer for EQ. I have a relatively new system, but it has terrible lag at times.
