Why do the various epic quests result in rewards dubbed 1,1.5, 2, 2.5 instead of 1, 2, 3, 4?
My guess, is because 2.0 was the planned 2, but they made a version in between to tide people over, and then the 2.5 isn't much better than the 2.0, just a few stats and little more damage.

1.0 is obvious as it was the original epic for all classes.
1.5 and 2.0 came out in the same expansion. 2.0 was the full complete quest while 1.5 was a partial completion reward.
2.5 wasn't a new quest. It was an add-on to the 2.0.
So 1.0 is it's own weapon. 1.5, 2.0, and 2.5 are all the same item just expanded a bit.
