Thank you greenshag. I hope most of the top ten are similarly geared and close in aa. That would put icing on what all others have been saying.

Yes, they are all similarly geared and AA'd.

Ya gotta think about it this way: Which classes are solely dedicated to DPS?

For melees, you have the Rogues, Zerkers, and Monks. But since monks have some better utility, they generally fall a little behind. The ONLY thing rogues and zerkers do is DPS, if they weren't on the top of the dps charts, they would have some genuine complaints and issues to bring up to Sony.

Same thing for the caster classes. Necros and Wizards do DPS. It's all they do. That's why they are tops.

Hybrids work a little different, because by definition they have more utility than pure melee/caster classes, and really there is only SK, Pally, Ranger, Bard, and Beastlord that could be considered hybrids anymore (I consider bards a hybrid, because they are not really melee, and not caster either). SK and Pally are considered "tank" hybrids. Rangers are considered "dps" hybrids. Beastlords and Bards are considered "utility" hybrids.

There may be a little difference in opinion (which I respect), especially about the Beastlords, but the way I see it; even though they CAN (and do) push out high dps, they have a lot more utility than a Ranger does (slows can overshadow any utility a Ranger has). And as was mentioned above: if anything happens to their warder, their DPS goes down the tubes. Rangers do not have this problem, hence the reasoning why they would be the "dps" hybrid.

One more thing you need to consider is that on different encounters, a Beastlord WILL outdps a similarly geared/aa'd Ranger. Why on some and not on others? Mainly because Rangers end up pulling "add kite/snare/root duty". Once this happens all dps on the main mob ceases, whereas if a Beastlord needs to cast Spiritual Epiphany on a newly rezzed raid member, even though they are not dps'ing anymore, their warder is still hitting the whole time.

So, to answer the OP's question:
IMO
Rogues are the best melee dps class, followed closely by zerkers
Wizards are the best "burst" dps caster class, and necros are the most "efficeient" dps caster class.
Rangers are the best hybrid dps, followed by Beastlords (both classes melee mostly anyway, but spell damage does help).

I agree with you on your statements. It is just my different point of view on what constitutes 'enough skill to play your class competently'. Our guild has several-many players who fit into the not enough skill category. But I dont think its all lack of skill but instead its a lack of desire or ability to play 100% effectively.

We had a raid wipe this week when one player had a pet unleashed that pull the boss mob to us before we event went over script stragegy for the event. That same evening we had an alt on autofollow aggo the boss when we were told to hug the left wall to move into position.

Previous raids had multiple trash aggros when moving into position causing another wipe. Many other times ppl are not ready to engage or unprepared with correct buffs or levitate or whatnot. Assisting seems to occasionally be a problem.

SO my view of 'enough skill' is someone who can avoid the 'serious error' stuff. The guys with efficiency and maximization in mind are above and beyond our average, enough skill category, and that is what makes them stand out in DPS numbers above other classes. Otherwise how in the world would I, a bard, be in the top 20 on a parse?

I gotta believe that someone who is a beserker/rogue, equally geared/aa'd, who meets my 'enough skill' category will still be behind in DPS than the ones in my efficiency/maximization category SIMPLY because they are doing a job but just not at the top of the class capability.

I have personally seen a monk that had all this timers memorized and knew what ones stack and when to pop what disc based on who is in their group and etc and etc. At that time he ALWAYS out dps'd others around him.

Want to know how a bard scores in the top 20 of a dps? I take it as saying that you are good dps. Want to know why you are wrong? Your guild is doing PoR expansion at this time correct? That is the problem. The weapons that you have equipped are probably closer to what your guilds rogue/zerker weapons are. Wait until you do TSS raids and you will notice less skilled people beat you more often. Pre TSS raid weapons are a joke compared to weapons from later on expansions.

Also how are you going to advertise your own guild and spell it wrong?

someone mentioned if you want to solo forget rogue. ive been soloing my rogue all the way (lvl 69 now) and at first its a little annoying bc you cant backstab, but if you learn to evade (stop attack, and click hide youll get a message it worked) the enemy will stop attacking you and turn around and then ucan backstab. rinse wash repeat. also at 59 rogues get an AA (chaotic stabbing) that lets you use backstab at any position. most importantly is the poison. at lvl 40 I was hitting 1500 poison dmg, at 50 I was hitting 2500. and it scales up perfect. when my poison procs (often ) I can 2 shot most enemies my lvl and 3 shot anything yellow. as a DPS class goes I think theres nothing that holds a candle to a rogue.
