You should join the shouts on the eq live forum. The discussion thread was up to 66 pages last time I checked. Not a happy patch.

Everyone who's quitting. You decided that all your years and months of hard work is worth throwing away over 3-5 days lost. I guess your toon isn't that important. Bye-bye.

I'd ask for your stuff, but I assume you lost it all in the rollback.

I had just handed most of Isladar's (level 70 Mage in Time+) gear to my cleric to sell or hand to neglected enchanter for upgrades.. decided to stop playing him at this time.

Cleric gets rolled back. Trader bags reverted.. level 70 spell unscribed (that can be done again.. but.. heh) and my 70 Mage is still standing naked untouched.

So.. I just lost 75% of his kit.. poof.

What do you think the odds are that I will get any resolution in a day.. a week.. ever?

I logged in > 6pm Pacific patch day, did 70.4 and 70.5 with Guild and setup in the Bazaar. Today, I logged in.. moved Isladar's kit to the auction block and was doing a Lost Notebook.

So *what* if my big 30-40k sales were laundered plat.. so what? I am still selling the cheapest on things I earned.. and are not super unique raid drops. Someone would buy this stuff anyway.. my sales are steady (steadily slow).

Update: Rollbacks are done.. my Mage is still naked. Bye bye Fabled Tola Robe, various Time lewts, etc.

They stated that anything gained between the patch and the rollback won't be given back, with the exception of some epic weapon stuff.

However they did state that your character should have everything prior to the patch and if you're missing stuff to petition and they'll get around to it. I'm sure they have a handful to deal with. The best thing right now is to act now instead of later. Petition and try to get the stuff back you have nothing to lose (you've already lost it).

Oh I petitioned last night.. but.. how many petitions in the "Roll Back" category do you think there are?

They have stated NO lost items will be returned.. so the AI will respond with that to each and every petition ("it's not corpse or guild status.. so.. sorry").

I am trying.. I am just betting on never.

So let me get this straight...

Every character in everquest is getting a rollback?

Even toons that were far from pok? or even logged in at the time?

well i haven't and i was in PoK but stayed well away from said merchants.

the only think i bought (or ever buy in PoK for that matter) was a couple of stacks of water and Iron Rations from the vendor near the GL.

No they stated no item lost because they where from the vendors or bought with Plat from the items from said vendors.

there is no reason for them not to restore shared bank items or items sold to players using "exploited" PP.

No, but the whole PoK vendor thing spread like a plague in that if Person A bought an item from the Beta Vendor, sold it to Person B, used that plat to buy something from Person C, who gave the item as a gift to Person D who sells the item on a vendor and get splat and buys something from Person E who uses that plat to donated for a buff from Person F...

They all get rolled back. So, while not everyone is getting rolled back (I haven't been) if you've been involved somehow (and however inadvertently) in any transaction with a "tainted" person, you've got the rollback plague.

I had to laugh at all the whining in the bazaar the last two days. Constant /ooc about this or that.

The one I can only surmise as 100% bullsheet was one guy complained that a toon he had not logged in months was rolled back.

Huh?? If you haven't played it in months, what did they roll it back to?

I (think only) had my trader and shared bank reset to a few days ago. Most of my plat is in shared bank so that was troublesome, but it was an increase since I had some capital outlays recently.
I also got back some items which sold, so I will sell em again.

I checked my main and several alts and quest items I had just made or gotten were still there.

The initial problem was bad...what soe did after just has to be rated as incredibly stupid.

It wasnt until I was reading a thread on one of the other boards that it hit me why my bazaar mule sold out of some things yeasterday during the rollback period. People were using the rollbacks that soe had kindly set up for them.

It took me a bit to understand the logic, and I may not really understand the deatils because the poster assumed a depth of knowledge in the readers but:

Plat farmer A logs in after the mess and sees the motd about roll backs, farmer A missed all the excitement the first few hours but sees a golden opportunity.

Farmer A takes all of the top items on his bazaar mule and puts them in bags, then proceeds to buy all of the other expensive items in the bazaar, also loading up bags.

Farmer A then goes to POK and drops those bags...I didnt understand the phraseology as to whether this was onto the ground, into a tradeskill container or perhaps he was meaning selling the items to a regular merchant.

Farmer B is followling along behind and picks up/ rebuys all of those items.

Farmer A goes and trades for several of the tainted tradeskill items that soe has so kindly told him will lead to a roll back....again Im not sure of the details, there was something about timing so this might be the first step.

Farmer A gets rolled back and has full pp and items.

Farmer B now has 10 million pp in items that are brand new and untainted...B carefully does nothing else to draw a chance of rollback in game.

SOE apparently went out of their way to help the criminals in the game while they were stomping on all the people who accidnetly got involved in the mess.

Man, I wish I was smart and thought of that....

To bad I not.

Some people's ingenuity is fantastic.

I honestly don't know how I got tainted. I guess it's possible it was from a donation for a buff, don't remember, I avoided the regular merchants just in case, and I didn't log on until long after the tainted merchants were gone, but I lost 4AA's, and a pair of gauntlets I rolled for in a group. Nothing major, just annoying as I didn't do anything, or profit from anything that I know of.

My mule was only logged on for a little while and made one 1600pp sale, which must have been tainted money so he got rolled back too.

I still say, it's lousy customer service.

However, I am not quitting EQ for it.

The number of people complaining about rollbacks show why it was needed in the first place. Those merchants were up for only a few hours and look at how many people they effected in such a short time.

It wouldn't work because farmer B would also be infected with the knock on effect and be rolled back.

This is exactly why they had to roll back so many people because PEOPLE CHEATED!!!

BLAME THEM, THEY *CKED IT UP FOR YOU.
