The subject is my question. Is EQ2 as big of a world as EQ1?

EQ1 had about 10 expansions under it's belt. EQ2 is still a baby.

From what I have heard EQ2 is pretty much dieing if not already dead, population wise.

EQ2 is/was a flop.

SoE is just dumb. All that effort, time, and money could have been spent on EQ1 and it would have paid off for them (and us) in the long run.

If they totally revamped/upgraded the newbie experience, say 1-50, they could have got the new player/casual player they were aiming for in EQ2, into EQ1.

Looks like they are heading in this direction now, though. Which is nice.

Long live EverQuest!

A good friend of mine swears by EQ2. But he came from EQOA which is even more watered down then EQ2. He has maxed out of things to do and is not even a hardcore player.

His character is a 60 wizzy/60 sage, has done 95% heritage quest and now just raids with his guild.

He loves the game, however, and the detail it has. I have played both and EQ1 has approx 100 times more things to do.

Give EQ2 some time and it will be a good mmorpg. I liked it when I played it but found leveling to be even more tedious then eq1.

let me clarify...

Tedious because there were very few areas to gain exp. Unlike EQ1, which has many zones and area to level at any particular. EQ1 is still very tedious in the 50's and most certainly the 60's.

I gave up on my 55 chanter and started a berserker in EQ1. Berserker is now level 20 and am enjoying the experience.

Leveling Tedious?

It took me 12 month of playing EQ1 to get to level 50. Then another 12 to get to 65.

Made it to 40 in EQ2 in the 1st 3-4 months of playing with no PLing, no twinking, playing only 20 hours a week AND doing every quest I could get. I went and looked up my stats I am still in ranked 410ish in quests completed on the server.

Leveling in EQ2 is TOO easy. Just like WoW.

The 1 biggest change I would have made in EQ2 is having AAXP type system. They GIVE you extra abilites as you level. Some based off your class, some based off your race, some that everyone gets. Had they made those same things buyable with AAXP instead of giving them away it would have added a lot to the games long term playability in my opinion.

Everyone I know that is still playing loves the game. They are all max level and exp means nothing to them anymore. They all just quest and raid.

But by NO means is EQ2 as large as EQ1 World Wise. I WOULD go so far as to say the Original World is larger than EQ1's original world. But that is about it.

Actually Nohk, besides the initial login and password change, I haven't played my Ebay Druid. Now the subscription has gone the way side and have been to busy to re-subscribe.

I am waiting till I get a laptop so I can try 2-boxing. Still interested in trying 2-boxing, just haven't had the time and material...

Well, you need to compare EQ Clasic, or maybe Kunark, to the current state of EQ2.
