Shamelessly stolen from Club Fu's message boards.

People at work are beginning to think I am going crazy because I have been giggling reading this article.

CLUB FU TRAIN INDEX
(compiled by Breathe/Flitterbick, proud member of the Club Fu guild on Bristlebane )

Trains in EverQuest are an inevitable occurance. Yet despite the frequency of trains, little effort has been expended towards the scientific goal of rating these oft-maligned forces of nature.

Until now . . .

NOTE - For your train to be valid for rating under the CFTI, it must be an UNPLANNED train. While any idiot can maliciously cause a train if they set their mind to it, TRUE training comes from the heart. It is the wondrous alignment of lag, carelessness, and sheer dumb luck that coalesces into a living, breathing example of Chaos Theory at it's finest. Spontaneity is your goal, and this is defeated by premeditation or intentional efforts to increase your CFTI once you realize your innocent little pull has mutated into the most feared of all events . . . a train.

This index would not have been possible without the dedicated, nay FANATIC efforts of the many pullers within Club Fu and the many suggestions from others across all servers. I would thank you individually, but I'm too busy looting my corpse.

As a cleric, I will sometime pull.

My favorite incoming statement I've personally ever said was

"inc umm...some mobs"

I had a paci resist and had no idea how many mobs were coming. We handled them, but it was a fun time.

My second favorite pull is when Inlee, our guild SK, just says..

"Shit.."

C'mon... how about when Raheli accidentally Highsun's a mob?

"Yeah. That's gonna cause a train."

That's kind of a pull message...

I think people who group with me have learned that when I say

"Oh boy"

things are going to get ugly.

That was priceless. When I am cajoled into pulling ("what's wrong with you people?! I'm a BST with an ADD warder!!"), my key phrase for "this is gonna be bad" is "zone, I am going to die." Unfortunately, virtually every time I do this, when I have given the group time to zone and start dragging myself to zoneline, I arrive to see the group standing there looking at me. I don't usually have enought time to type in "GIT!" before ....Loading, please wait.

Must say, in their defense, though...they are usually trying to save me. For that I am humbled. But, dang...all valor aside, a train of dragons in WW is just gonna be bad. "Incoming: Velium Mastodon...(pause), and the host of Veeshan."

Now that would be funny!

My personal best after accidentally hitting range attack on a targetted mob when the monk had already announced the raid mob was incoming...

"Um... yeah, the clerics might want to camp"

~Kriegs

It was my first raid in PoFear and I was conning random mobs to see how tough they were =/

i'd have to say the good old fashioned oh crap... does add a bit of excitement to the day. Most of the time for me it's underestimating the agro range or having someone tag when they are not supposed to. My best was wiping a group with in 30 secs of joining the group back when i was 49 in PoJ and pulled a big nasty that i had came across.

Absolutely hilarious...but you fogot to add a section on training yourself while soloing.
Soloing monk in lguk, fighting minatuars, when aggroed a shaman. Ran to avoid spells, then feigned...waitied a minute, then sat up...oops 2 froggies, two shamans and two min come running...i get stunned and spun...panic just a little.. run to new spot to feign... turns out it is the three mino room...shout OMG...(even though no one in zone)...trying to run to hallway to feign with no wonderers, and end up in room with three more urd shamans...spells hitting so feign keeps failing...now running to zone with 6 froggies ( knights and warriors) 6 shamans and 7 or 8 minatuars, and i shout TRAIN TO ZONE..never made it...LOADING PLEASE WAIT...even thought no one in zone :)...best solo train ever...best part is, not having played my monk in months, is if i had waited initially till i got the "your enemies have forgotten you" message, I never would hav ehad this train. :) should get some good points for that stupidity.

See that's what happened to me after i had taken a bit a of a break in EQ and that was never in the game(just another wonderful nerf that us monks have to live with) so i was in a LDon group and though as usual that agro would clear like it used to and that wasa surpirse to me when all 3 mobs came running after i got back up fortunately my group handled the adds but it was a bit of a wake up call

sorry butchered the copy and paste of the quote :(

Lord Galthran
Like all lessons I learn in EQ, they all are done the hard way...fortunately for me I did it only to myself :)
And you didn't butcher it, I see that I should take more time to edit my posts, I obviously have trouble with the space bar.

Our guild killed a GM. He had come to Plane of Time in response to a petition from a guildie about the guildies sufix tag. After he took care of that task, he hung around to watch us pull the next tier 4 mob. The raid leader warned him that we would be pulling and that he might ought to move or to buff up. The next thing I heard in TS was laughter as the mob was pulled and the GM died to the aoe the mob was casting. I guess he didn't buff fast enough.

Not a train but it is the only time I have seen a dead GM.

In a poorly thought out effort to maximize my Nest exp group's dps, we decided to drop the puller and add a third rogue, for a group makeup of warrior, shammy, three rogues, and me (the cleric).

Being fairly well geared, and thinking I could root pull the rooms with minimal excitement..

Right.....

Second run, I rooted one.. and got about 10 lines of aggro messages..

My message was simple.. "Disk"

We did.. no we didn't.. and I had to run back..

We now use a monk as our third dps/puller..

On a side note I was on the recieving end of a trained CR at the PoI zone in a few years ago.. Our raid had just wiped and started rez's when a SK from a rival guild brought 25+ mobs to the zone in. 50 plus died again, multiple petitions, nasty tells, people logging pissed, etc... easily a 5k train.. Best Ive ever seen.

Hmmm, wonder if there's to be an expansion that includes 'fear' training, you know when you're stuck with fear, run deeper into the dungeon - then the fear stops and you then start to retrace your steps (with lots of new friends)...or does that just qualify jus as the 'not puller' lilne??

Reminds me of GE when you see someone go running off and then see the next few lines of group chat:

Soandso1 tells the group: Soandso6 got feared
Soandso2 tells the group: Take the hit
Soandso3 tells the group: Don't train us
Soandso4 tells the group: Don't come back
Soandso6 tells the group: INC

Raid gathering at Velitorkin:

Puller says:
INC some trash

10 sec later 10 trash mobs, Disc. Warfiend and Velitorkin is at camp.
We where unbuffed and half the raidfoce wasnt even at portal room yet.. When all mobs where dead about 10 people where alive hehe.

Also, last week as raid where heading to MPG trials one of the first people through WoS pulled DV and Hulc + some trash to MPG zoneline.. The rest of the lemmings kept running towards MPG zoneline where Hulc and c/o sat and camped more and more corpses..
Good times! :D

Me rolling on 2 puller classes i sometimes ***** up.
hardcore.
best inc train message on my bard???"oh ****....inc"
best inc train message on mnk???"inc might have to fd......oh **** who followed me"
Best way for a grp to actually let their clery die is for the clery to insist on pulling in a zone where its known mobs tend to resist almost everything.
best personal train by mistake was pulling cazic doing my mnks epic.........
