I just got a new Dell laptop for my birthday (Nvidia GeForce Go 6800 video card) and I can't get in game. The patcher refers me to Nvidia for a new driver, which Nvidia doesn't have. I tried Beta drivers, Dell drivers, new chipset drivers, etc, but every time I try to log in, I get referred to new drivers, and bomb out. I read that EQII doesn't support the GeForce Go laptop video cards, but didn't see anything on EQI. Thanks for any help.

SoE will generally not support any laptops at all. I have run EQ1 on my 4 year old Dell Inspiron, but it's not great. I don't know what your problem could be though.

Laptop makers usually lag behind with graphic drivers for their machines. And with many games asking for the latest drivers before they let you in, I found the offical drivers wouldn't work since they didn't support mobile graphic cards. But help is at hand if you don't mind loading non offical graphic drivers.

I've used them for over a year and a half now with no complaint.

Try running in win95/98/2000 compatibility mode. This sometimes but not most of the time can help fix some issues

Thanks Rossd, I followed a few threads leading to an updated .inf file (from ~laptopvidep2go or something like that, bookmarked on my home computer) which got me into the game again. It's a little squirrelly in full-screen mode, but I can play again. I'm gonna try the .ini fix next to see if that fixes the full-screen problem for me. (thanks Kasandra).

The only Nvidia drivers that seem to work for laptops is the 56.72.. its one of the older ones..If you try one of the new ones.. your lucky if you get in and lucky if you see anything.. I always got white parts of people and it looked like crap.
Sony doesn't support laptops at all(alot of people play on them!).
And even when you get ingame.. i have had lag issues due to video drivers.. run.. move real slow.. run.. move real slow.. etc....
My new laptop with a intel graphics chip runs EQ great!
