So I am thinking of starting a new alt and some of the classes that I hadn't taken too seriously over the years, and monk was probably #2 on the list after rogue, and not really wanting to torture myslef trying to level a rogue solo, I decided to make an iksar monk and I forgot how much F-U-N Kunark is.

Firstly, nearly everything you kill on Kunark drops money. It is very rare to loot something and not hear the jingle of coins going into your pockets, so you can get rich just by levelling in Kunark instead of travelling to other parts of the world.

Secondly, item drops abound, even from fairly low levels. Many are useful to lowbies, and some sell for PLATINUM!! A nice way to gear up or make even more money.(Iksar Targ Shield, anyone?)

Thirdly, zones for everyone. You can go from level one all the way up to 60, and maybe a little beyond that, without ever leaving Kunark. Who needs to run all over the world when you have most of your levelling needs covered in one place?

Fourth, Quests, quests and MORE QUESTS! Quests for everyone for a wide array of items and rewards.

Fifth, challenging zones. If you're not too twinked out, you can still go back and run through the Kunark content and really get into it.

Sixth, you have it all to yourself. Nobody comes here anymore, so you have all this FUN all to yourself! Why go to Paludal Caverns and have to share the mobs with the hundred other power levellers that are there all the time, when you can make a solo sweep of Kurns Tower?? I went from 13-16 in about an hour, but I am a monk so I have to stop to heal up once in a while, a healing class could probably do it faster, especially a cleric or paladin with undead nukes. ;-D

Seventh, an excellent starting city. For an Iksar, Cabilis is a very well stocked city, with just about everything you could need. I have seen all the tradeskill stuff an iksar could need there, and the surrounding zones have plenty of drops, forages, etc to get a lot more tradeskill items. I would almost put Cabilis on a par with Freeport for tradeskills, though I still can't find anyone who sells flasks of water (bloodwater does not work), which is strange because there are forges everywhere and the iksar warriors need blacksmithing skill to do their guild quests, and nearly every smithing recipe requires flasks of water.

So, if you want to have some fun, come to Kunark or create an iksar character. You'll like it!!!

Aye completely agree. Kunark was the best expansion by far. Other expansions did have some revolutionary innovations but for sheer well thought out and fun looking zones nothing beats kunark. Every time I level I spend as much time as possible there. A guilty pleasure of mine ios too see how quickly each new class can go pwn that froglock city in the swamp.

I agree. I love Kunark, and my favorite city has always been Firiona Vie.

I still hang there. Only I'm slaying Golems and Inkies now.

In Cabilis, real water is sold by a merchant across the canal from the necro temple.

I always liked the expansions that ALL levels could enjoy. That is why I am so unhappy with Eq2's first expansions. It only has content for lvl 45ish to 60. Being the first expansion I think it should have really had content for lower levels.

Kunark is by far the best.
EQ seems to have moved away from the awesome content like Kunark to produce too many expansions too fast.
I still love going thru Kunark from time to time just to revisit the beauty.

My monk grew up in old world zones till about 53 when i learned of the planes. Dalnir is an excellent zone for 30-45 folks and then you can head to seb for the mid 40's to 50's. Then there is that crap xp zone we call skyfire mountains. They sadly nefed the XP so badly there that it's only good for questing in and getting pummled by dragons. But most of the zones are still really well made and still give decent xp
