I'm also a premium subscriber. I'm not sure what would cause this problem, whether it's script on the page or what. This seems to happen to me the worst when browsing the Beastiary. However, there's no lag at all if using Lucy to look up anything -- aren't Lucy and the beastiary on the same servers as Alla's? I've noticed that often the page seems to stall for 30 seconds to over a minute or more with a cable connection. Sometimes though, you can click "Stop" on your browser after 5 seconds or so and the page will show partially, often up until the part where the forums start. I just wanted to state this to possibly help find the problem, if it's not server-related.

Sounding off as another premium subscriber with this same problem. I get it from work and from home.

That is exactly the same thing I'm experiencing. Other websites load fine.

I am a premium member and have been for a few years now. It's jut this site that I have problems with as far as the page "hanging". It starts to load, and goes 3/4 of the way into and just hangs. Sometimes if I let it sit, it will eventually load, or I just keep hammering refresh until it finally goes through.

Some parts are fine, others are intolerable. It does this on all 3 of my pc's.

Same deal here.
Premium user and pages constantly stall, having to refresh and refresh and refresh to view things.

It has gotten so bad that by now I use magelo to search for stuff.
The profiler was the first thing that went down the tubes, with uploaded profiles not displaying OOW and DoN and now DoDH items, and this stalling has been going on for about 2 months for me now (maybe longer)

The promise of the premium subscription was "Faster performance"
It ain't happening anymore.
I'm on a 4mb connection and just to look up one item takes me 10 mins before the page comes up.

Either that or "Document contains no data" WHEEE!

I won't be renewing, sorry.

Same problem here with the page stalls. I would pay more than I currently am for premium service if it meant better performance.

I have these same types of issues with my home computer, but not here at work. My computer at home is overloaded with protection and had attributed it to that.

With that said I have noticed that just the last day or two this site has been running very smoothly for me???

And has anyone from the management posted anything here about the same issue we're all talking about? No! I think the number of posts here about the same issue deserves, at the very least, a response from the people who run this website.

Premium user, fiber connection, and this site is slower then any other I bring up on a day to day basis. Most of all when searching the item and Bestiary databases.

This is a quote from Illia regarding slowness issues (I am playing messenger here):

Quote:
We're aware of the issue. It's simply system load being higher capacity than our servers can serve at the moment.

New servers are on order and should increase capacity significantly.
It can be found in its origin here on the Feedback Forum.

The new servers should be arriving "next week." How long it takes to get them active, I am not sure of. That is a developer thing.

I've been having the same problem, usually spamming F5 to refresh will bring up the data after a few times. Good to hear something has been done to address it. Guess I'll just hang tight till the new servers arrive Smiley: smile

I know this is getting fixed "soon" and all, but I just wanted to post my tracert to show how bad it really is (it's somewhat comical to me):

I am a premium member and I am not having the problems anywhere near the lvl people are describing unless their are multiple games down.

Since alot of people aren't having these problems it's reasonable to say the problem isn't 100% on alla's end.

For people who are having these problems I suggest seriously cleaning your PC. Their are alot of things out there that the standard spy/adware/virus scanners won't fix. Like your registry for one. One of the fastest ways to clog up your registry is by deleating programs instead of uninstalling them. Also be sure to defrag your HDs every once in awhile. Scandisk is a helpful tool as well.

If you are not a premium member the banners are going to slow you down regardless of what else is going on.

It is most certainly a problem on Alla's end, not the user's. Those who do not have problems could be either hitting the site on off hours or are simply very lucky in their network connection's physical address.

I have 2.5mbps broadband, a hell of a powerful computer that I defrag regularly, an obsessive need to constantly scour for spyware and malware, and a pretty deep understanding of Internet technologies (network and website admin). Alla's is simply overloaded. The servers are inadequate, and/or the SQL database was inefficiently built and has grown too large and complex. It is most likely a combination of both. Fixing either will require either a serious amount of time to restructure the database or some heavy spending to upgrade the actual servers. Neither are something Alla will want to do, unless they get a lot of feedback about how annoying things are.

Like any business, they aren't going to spend money or time unless they have to. This isn't bad or wrong, it's just simple good business acumen. Our responsibility as the consumer is to make sure they know how significantly this situation is affecting our decision to give them money. This will force Alla to make a decision to either lose premium subscriptions, or make the investment to improve the web site. I'm betting on the latter. The folks who run Alla haven't proven themselves stupid thus far, and I doubt they will sacrifice long term revenue to save money in the short term. The only question is when this upgrade will happen. I'm hoping it will be soon, but it's up to us all to 'encourage' them to take care of matters as quickly as possible.

It's frustrating and annoying, and I find myself using other, free info sites more and more. But Alla's is still the best clearinghouse of EQ data I've found. I can find all the info here in one place, whereas I may have to visit two or three other sites to find what I'm looking for as an alternative. So I hope they'll get this little issue fixed soon. :)

Have the same Problems and being a premium member for years too. Especially got problems with the item search functionality and find myself now using Google to find this information on alla (using the google cached sides) simply because it is faster.

Premium here also and this is the only site I have problems with. I hope the new servers get in soon as this is a great resource.

Premium user here, with the same problems on various computers. I expect the hardware fix will help some. On a related question, when will the Profiler get some work done? This has been an issue for months, and so little action and feedback. If you want to see frustrated, PAYING (maybe not for long) customers who are disappointed through heartbroken, check out this thread.

I am having a new weird issue. For some of the posts, Take for instance Suig's post on monster missions as an example, I can not see the first original post which contains the main information or the header with the thread name. On some threads I can see the first post, and thread name, and on others I cannot. That's just weird. I have rebooted and relogged on. I have "never filter" checked and made sure that is still on.

Is anyone else having anything similar to this?

/edit AH HA I just figured out that I cannot see the first post or header on any post that is 2 or more pages, so no polls, no OP on any really popular thread. I can see OP and header on one page posts.
