Weekend Update!Follow

#27 Feb 10 2004 at 7:57 PM Rating: Good
Started off in the Plane of Storms hunting for quest/key pieces.

We did OK untill we moved down next to the lake and started on collecting the beards, I forget the name of the particular giants. Splitting these was proving troublesome and our Monk was taking quite a pounding in trying to get singles back to us.

To the point that he died on one pull. This upset Celeni as she was his healer, so she decided that it was definitely not going to happen again. She figured she would stay a bit closer to him and cast the Druid HoT on him and keep it up so that together with regeneration he would be recovery a good amount of hit points while he was FD. (She was trying to avoid giving him FD problems, and not pull aggro of course).

This was in the mistaken belief that the Druid HoT had the same low aggro feature as the cleric HoTs.

After a particularly difficult split Monk is heading back in to camp, giant in tow and with very low health. Celeni casts the HoT, it dawns on her at that moment that the Druid HoT is also a lot slower to cast than the cleric HoT. The HoT actually lands just after the monk has run past Celeni and he FD's (of course). The HoT lands, monk has FD'd just as the giant draws level with Celeni.

You can guess what happens, she is dead before she can click off the lizard. (Yes that was another error in the call).

So second healer is dead, but no biggy, we still have the cleric main healer, we have a warrior MA and a pally and ranger fully buffed, just kill the darn giant so we can rezz Cel, right?

Well, no as it turns out.

Yet another (apparent) error of judgement was that we were camped right next to a treant. We weren't interfering with it, and it was ignoring us, a fine arrangement.

Suddenly, in the middle of the battle with the giant, the treant joins in. One hits Chanter 1, despatches Chanter 2 in a blink of an eye, takes out the Druid nuker and reserve healer.

Now, its getting a bit tense, but the three tanks and cleric are still confident of the giant, if we can tank mezz the tree or the giant or some goddam thing.

Well then the final part of the farce is played out. As any of you who have fought these giants will know, they proc a strange reverse feign death thingy. When it goes off and you catch it, it makes you fall to the ground and you cannot move. You have to click sit/stand to break it and rejoin the melee.

Well while the tree is pounding on our pally, the warrior and I are doing this wierd dance with the giant, only problem is that each time he caught us with his proc, while we were sitting around on the ground he was getting in some major licks, hiting for 500 - 600 for those who do not know the spot.

Well inevidably Iluien dies, I don't know what the sequence was after that, but it was a wipe. Smiley: frown

It seems that some of the casters were have a targetting problem of some sort and had accidentally targetted the treant. Smiley: frown

The rest of the weekend is a blur of LDoN's. The final three were with the same (mostly) group, an excellent Pally tanking, a very capable Chanter, Necro and Druid, and a rotation of warrior/SK and pally (Aesten healing). We did three "hards" in a row and felt very pleased with ourselves.

The it was very noticable that the loot and experience is substantially better on the hard setting, (at our level at least).
