From a thread on Monkly Business about the tribute system:
Quote:
Kelethin (Wood Elf) - Outside Druid Guild
Kelethin (Half Elf) - Outside Ranger Guild
Should make life interesting for my wood elven, PoG raiding, bard Smiley: wink

In my defense, my deity is Quellious and I, not once, have ever raided Plane of Tranquility.

well i have to agree with 90% of the monkey's there. looks smells, acts like a Piece o cr..

very glad ill not be getting this expansion. i will say that every time i read more and more about this expansion, the happier and happeir i am about NOT buying this one, and now not sure i will ever buy this expansion.

i refuse to pay coin to NPCs for buffs that will only last 10min, hell i refuse to pay NPCs coin for buff.

Actually, it lasts 10min per cost.

Making up numbers, if you give an NPC 1000pp (or a like amount of items), you'll have 1000 Tribute points. If you then activate a regen buff that drains 10pts, then every ten minutes you'll lose 10pts of Tribute until you stop the buff via the Tribute window or 1000 minutes go by, whichever comes first.

I have to admit, the thing does all sound rather lame except for special situations. Once you turn off a Tribute, you have to go home to turn it back on and it's burning Tribute while you're en route to your destination. If I had Gates, I might use it before a bit of soloing where I could buy song/instrument mods and then hike my *** to me destination immediately, but that's about it. The item thing seems pointless -- items only carry their Tribute weight in NPC vendor plat, so to speak. So a fine steel dagger would be worth about 4 TP since a vendor gives 4pp and change for it. I guess it saves a step in hitting the merchant, but it also means that a lot of PoP+ equipment that's been contributing to mudflation is also worthless as Tribute (trying to sell, say, a Defender's Lightblade gets you a rude "that item is worthless" at the merchant).

Sounds like complete crap to me. Just IMO. If I wanted some buffs, I can just go to PoK and donate to whoever is casting. It would cost me a lot less too, and I won't have to deal with my DESTROYED faction with my home city.

glad im not only one who is unhappy with what they see coming out of this expansion.

/Iluien rubs his hands together and chuckles with glee!

There will be more than one Dwarf and Human with a problem or two as well Smiley: grin

Probably get moved before going live.

As far as the comments go, it never ceases to amaze me the number of people ready and willing to bag things and complain, before they even have a clue what it is they are complaining about.

Natural borne whingers I think.

If the system actually works as described, it seems approximately the same as using potions, a very usefull option when the occasion [to use] arises.

Except that I'm not forced to drink my potion immediately upon buying it in the Bazaar Smiley: wink

I can just see it now. Instead of getting five people together for an LDoN and listening to each caster whine about how they have to first go to PoK for a KEI, now you can listen to five people whine about how they to go to Freeport, Rivervale, Kelethin, Felwithe and Ogguk before they can start the adventure.

But can't you turn them on and off as needed via the Tribute window?

(Maybe I have misread something somewhere. Wouldn't be the first time Smiley: smile)

Nope. Granted, I'm not in the Beta and it's possible for anything in the Beta to change anyway, but the way it stands now is that you buy the skill and it starts the clock the second you buy it. You can turn it off or downgrade it in the field, but you can't turn a skill on or upgrade it without a return trip to the Tribute NPC.

Hrmm... on The Concert Hall, someone was saying things like a Weighty Polearm were going for 13k Tribute points. Yikes!

Anyone do any testing with it? I haven't played with it, since I never got the expansion, but if equipment is going for that much, maybe that's why someone came and bought out all my trader's low end gear last night Smiley: laugh
SomeGuy has bought a Sporali Defender Blade for 10pp
SomeGuy has bought a Blackened Alloy Longsword for 15pp
SomeGuy has bought a Blackened Ceremonial Robe for 150pp
SomeGuy has bought a Drakkal Wolfhide Gloves for 100pp
SomeGuy has bought a Nightrage Staff for 10pp
SomeGuy has bought a Brined Shoulderpads for 15pp
SomeGuy has bought a Ceremonial Hate Candle for 50pp
...so on and so forth...

Hehehe... I did a /who on SomeGuy and he was a lvl 45 Shadowknight. I don't know what kind of character he was equipping with that mess of equipment. Cleared up a lot of bag space though!

I played with the tribute a small amount yesterday and i found the tribute points to be very libral to low end gear dishing out thousands of points for very useless items. From my findings I belive this is a great step expecially for the solo game. >^_^<

System rocks, don't let people who haven't even tried it turn you off. People will ***** about anything.

Turned in about 2 backpacks worth of OLD junk sitting in my shaman's bank. Level 20-30 stuff that I keep because I'm a packrat and never throw anything away.

Left the Tribute Vender with Regen VIII, FT4 and healing III and enough points for all three to last 31.2 hours, didn't spend a single copper. Value of what I turned in in the bazaar would probably be 500 plat tops. Out of curiousity I checked the value of my equipped gear, most was 15k+ points, and I don't have all that great stuff gearwise.

No complaints here.
