To close, I want to talk to you about something exciting we have on the horizon, and it’s one of the things we haven’t discussed previously: Heroic Characters. If you follow or play EverQuest II, this might sound familiar to you. They recently launched Heroic Characters which permits returning players to create a Level 85 Character, allowing players the ability to try out different classes at a higher level and also giving quicker access to high level areas. Our offer of Heroic Characters will be very similar to EverQuest II’s, though our offer will be unique to EverQuest. After all, the games are not the same, so there are just some things that will be different in order to better suit our game. We are just getting underway on this project, so stay tuned for more information!

note - The PLing will probley still not go away even if this is true some time in 2018 - ha ha

Necroposting: The act of posting in an extremely old thread for the sole purpose of bringing it to the foreground of the forum to disrupt the existing threads is considered necroposting, and is prohibited. Extremely old is a subjective term, to be determined by the administrators. Threads that are legitimately, or accidentally necroposted in may be left at the discretion of the admin. Deliberately necroposted threads will be returned to the page from where they came, and may be locked if necessary.

Well intentional or not i was only breaking stones. its up to the admins to determine if you intentionally necro posted or not. which by the looks of it they let the posts stand so i dont understand the problem.....Like i said i was only breaking stones

Pam:

relax please.

I won't encourage/discourage you from paying for the site. That's your call.

Some people here really react badly to old posts coming back. Understand that the game has changed so much that something someone said that was intelligent/corrcect in the past could be completely wrong today. This leads to threads full of flames and angst against someone that might not even have looked in here in the last 8 years. So they can't defend themselves (and shouldnt' have to).

The fact that so many have added new replies, shows you hit on a topic people still care about.

Next time, please start a new thread. Put a link to the old thread in it if you wish. Example: "I read read this old thread (link) and I think the issue is worth talking about. My view is..."

Odds are you get rated up Smiley: nod

I don't get it, but I don't see a problem with people doing it. I mean, if they want to be bad at the game at a higher level, that's their call, but I'm kicking them out of my groups if they're being useless and someone better can fill their spot.

Only problem I see with it is the annoyance of trying to get your skills maxed out. Even just playing the game from 1 to 60 as it is I find it very difficult with certain classes to keep all the useful skills high enough to be useful. A level 60 melee with level 15 melee skills isn't going to do so hot.

What I don't get is if necro-posts are so strongly discouraged why not delete old threads, or if the info could conceivably have nostalgic value, CLOSE it?

Re PL... it's so common today that best to live with it than to stress over it. Like a previous poster wisely said, if you group with new people and they stink at their class, politely leave the group or if you have the powa, boot them out, and just don';t group with them again until they learn their craft.

Playing an EQ toon isn't brain surgery... if they stick around and actually DO join groups, eventually they'll get to mediocre and "more than adequate" is just a short jump from there.

Amazing to think sometimes how much peops stress over a G A M E...

Because it's easier to have a general agreement not to necropost than to close each thread after some undefined period to prevent it.

100% agreed there. The game really isn't that hard. The concepts its based on are extremely simple. There's a little bit of a learning curve but frankly I've met plenty of rock stupid players who I KNOW leveled up themselves from level one. And I've known excellent Warriors who PL up or buy a wizard or cleric or enchanter and do just fine with it because they know what the role of the class is. And, as said, if you're caught in a group with some keyboard ***-rolling monkey, the solution is simple regardless of whether they reached 85 by powerleveling, account purchase or grinding.

lol itsI bet its these same admins or peeps that say - why dont you use seach insteed of posting a new thread. but i agree 2004 is a little too old for adding a post.

admins might not like it do to the what older posts are arcived. they should have a way to make oder posts read only if past some date.

There isn't much admin'ing in this forum period. Much less some strong press against necroposting (unless someone bumps a bunch of ancient junk just to do it).

Across forums I use, it's frowned upon because posters move on, opinions change and people may be replying to old information or talking to people who no longer exist. It's just cleaner to start a new thread than to bump something from nine years ago.

That sounds pretty "automatable" to me. I bet decent forum software might have the option built into it. No offense but I think some people just like to jump on a necro-poster like some people gripe about neighbors who don't tie their trash bags or drivers who don't park their car within the lines.

IMO a necro-post either dies from its own irrelevance or if it's an interesting topic it re-opens the discussion. Bottom line, as sins go it's pretty darn innocent!

I didn't address the poster so no offense taken. That said, their over reaction is a bit like yelling that you're going to move to another city and never look back because you were asked to tie your trash bags or park between the lines Smiley: wink2

I like the "I'm not paying a subscription anymore!". With that deliberate obfuscation using a mix of poor grammar and atrocious mechanics, makes me think trollololol.

OTOH, it could be the garden variety of netizen user that picks its nose and wipes its boogers on the keyboard before calling a help desk and typically doesn't reboot before making the call...

I never reboot before calling help desk. How can they debug the problem if I do that and it goes away? Seriously, think about these things!
