I haven't been impressed with this rather unique expansion. I got it with expectations of a fast and fun way to level from around 25 to 40, but it hasn't really proven to be either for me. I'm not going to rant about all the petty little details, but what are you guys' opinions about it? I've just found that it takes too long to get a group(my friends and I have trouble getting together often, due to work and some of us attending school), and when I do get a group it seems like I'm only getting 1-2 bubbles of experience for the 90 minutes of work. Anyways, I'm getting offtrack(kind of). Please post any opinions. Thanks

Hate to say it, but if you are only getting 2 bubs, then you are doing something wrong! I did one last night, completed the mission in 30 min, and stayed for the extra 30 min. (total 1 hour) and got 3 yellow...

I think it will also depend on your level relative to the others in your party. If you are level 32 and everyone else is level 25, you're not going to get much experience. And if you're level 25 and everyone else is level 32, then you can get halfway through a level or more. But it gets worse as you level up--I have heard that the 50s is especially bad for LDoN experience, perhaps less than 10% of a level per adventure. But that's only hearsay, I just dinged 50 myself, and at 49 I did a LDoN and got about 30% experience, which I was pretty happy with.

At low levels, LDoN is mostly about the experience and the money loot (you can do better on loot, but generally not while getting the same good experience). At high levels, the item loot is pretty good, and the money loot is okay, but the experience isn't as good. However, at high levels you actually get a decent amount of points per adventure, so you can afford the LDoN items which are actually decent but require lots of points to buy.

Game on,

Well not to start a riot or anything, but imo if you are playing purely for exp then you are really wasting your time, especially as far as LDoN goes.

I understand 25 to 40 was your complaint, but when I first started playing something like LDoN would have been really nice. The chance to get some gear, and better yet EARN some AP and buy myself some gear rather than compete for drop or save up insane amounts of PP for upgrade would have been great. People are so spoiled with Planes exp that they forget it used to be harder. I feel like LDoN gives good enough exp to be worthwile today, and also can be incredibly rewarding.

This is a long drawn out issue with me, that I should really put all my thoughts into one essay at some point hehe.

As you mentioned LDoN experience mid 40's is quie good, but to me the whole point of it is the loot/drops while getting decent experience. After 50 the experience does drop off a bunch, was getting about 8% per adventure, but if you put that into AA's instead was getting about 30% AA per adventure which isn;t bad at all. Recently I have been doing only high risk adventures and at lvl 57 have found the experience much better, about 20% per adventure as well as more adventure points and way better loot. The high risk ones are definilty harder as the mobs hit harder and have more hp but with a well balanced group can be torn through just like the normal ones. If you are concerned about the exp, try a high risk one next time out.

Honestly spoken I was quite bored with the simplicity of the random dungeons but the creature design (including sounds) and the appearance of some weapons/armor is so outstanding good compared to classic skins that I like playing LDoN alone for that reason.

But thats just me reagarding the fun factor - not the efficiency.

I think that everyone should be required to play several dungeons in LDON before they are allowed to reach level 50....I know that in my case and several others,it helped me learn my class properly and my roles in a group....There are too many people powerleveled to high levels that know nothing about their class....And in my opinion, besides pop or PC,its the best exp in the game...

i've found that no matter what level i play it at between 20 and 45 (i haven't played it higher than that), the experience has always only been about 1.5 - 2 gold bubbles of xp for a successful slaughter mission, which at lvl 20 is almost useless compared to the xp in paludal, but at lvl 40+ it is certainly a much faster way of making xp. But i do agree that the reason that people play LDoNs at a lot of levels largely involves fun and loot.

I think you guys have confirmed what I thought. Exp seems to be about 40% per adventure. Is it bad? I dunno, it's okay I guess, but I could solo or group elsewhere for more. Granted this would be very nice at 40+, but the characters I use in LDoN are all in the 25-40 range, hence why I said it.

I guess I fell victim to the hype. I was on a three month vacation from EQ during the release of LDoN due to computer problems I didn't bother resolving for awhile, and when I got back I was hearing a lot about LDoN being the fastest way to 40. The loot is pretty good, and I can see why someone with a lack of funds might choose to do LDoN adventures(i.e. a new caster), but that doesn't really make me want to play it. I don't just play to level like a madman, but I guess LDoN isn't something that struck me as fun(not to start a riot =p). Anyways, this was an opinion post, so thanks to those that posted.
