Help the uneducated please! Can a person have more than one acoount on the same server and run them both at the same time on the same pc? If so how do you switch back and forth between the two? THanks all who take the time. )

Yes. I prefer http://www.eqwindows.com/

I run 2 clients in windowed mode, mapped Ctrl+Z to switch windows and Ctrl+X to release the mouse from the EQ window when I want to do something outside of EQ (Like look up a map or something)

Toas, you know you can just hit the window button on your keyboard to free up your mouse if you are running EQW.

i use that all the time to 2box.

few key points to keep in mind.

1. follow the instructions form the page Toas linked.

2. turn off the sound in game (if you have very strong system you can try to run your mp3 player)

3. have a 64M vid card or better, and not one of the elcheepos, but one of the stronger cards. 128M vid card will give you drastic imporvement.

4. more system ram. 1G or better for nice performance.

5. download and buy MemturboII so worth it. EQ has a HUGE memory leak that SoE refuses to do anything about. i will not play EQ even without EQW if i do not have my memturbo up and running first to clean up the ram on my system.

--side note-- my system is a 2.4G P4 800Mhz FSB system with 1G of PC3200 ram and a 128M ATI 9500 vid card. if i run 2 instances of EQ without memturbo i drop down to 1-4m of ram free... that is unacceptable and cause becuase of the pathetic codeing form SoE that they refuse to fix. with memturbo i can clear that back up to were it should be around 300-450M free of ram. EQ should NEVER take up more then 300-400M of ram at any given time on a single instance, thus 2 instances will take up between 600-700M of ram total and should never take up more.

with the above system i hardly have lag even in pok (much more then normal that is) and my zone times are still well under 30sec. when 2boxing.

Just by way of contrast and to fix a bottom line on it. I run 2 accounts on an Athlon 1200 with 768Mb RAM under XP Home without using EQWindows and it works fine. So you can manage without Deep Thought.

I agree, EQW really does contain the memory management that EQ lacks. I can *easily* run two chars on my older system with EQW. I use it even when I'm only running one char, I just prefer it.
