AA question for the millionth time.Follow

Can someone quickly explain AA's to me. How do you get AA's instead of leveling? Is there a button you push to make your xp go into an AA's instead of leveling? Just curious.

Very simple

Go in the AA window and simply adjust the experience bar on the right side untill you get the desired amount of AA experience you want versus the regular experience ( you choose the percentage you wish),,,when it's full you'll get a nice DING and 1 AA point that you may choose to place where ever you wish.

Have fun

But you won't be able to do that until your character is level 51.

Actually, IMHO its better to wait until you get to 60 or so before doing AAs (except maybe the RUN AA). It takes as much experience to generate 1 AA point as it does to get through level 51. So if you do AAs at level 51, each AA takes as long as completing the entire level.

AAs are also split up by character level. Basic ones are available at level 51, which are generally increased stats, health regen, run, that sort of thing. At level 55 (the next set/page of AAs) you can get more interesting ones that affect things like Mana regeneration, spell effectiveness, melee etc. The next set after that is at level 59. Each new set of AAs usually requires that you have a minimum number of AA points allocated to the previous set. e.g. you need 6 points in the level 51 AAs before you can put a point into the level 55 AAs.

If you wait until say, 60th level, one AA point is going to take WAAAY less time that it would if you did it at 51st level.

Personal preference of course, just depends if you want to stay in the low 50s game for the equivilent of (at least) 6 extra levels or in the 60s game for the equivilent of 1 level to get the same thing.

A lot of people suggest waiting until 65 before starting AAs. I can understand where they are coming from. The xp that goes toward your AAs could help you get to 65 where is all AA. I was planning on waiting, but now that I have hit 60 I can see the advantages to picking up some AAs. I am currently torn between waiting or gaining a few points. Run Speed would be the first thing I would go for. Even with sow I have a hard time keeping up with unslowed mobs in tier 2 zones.

Sound advice. Thank you very much Rhodan. I can see your point. My AA's aren't going to amount to anything until I hit level 59 anayway.... Cool I think I will follow that advice. Alos, is it worthwhile even doing run, now that Spirit of Shrew is available.

Run III is still worth it, b/c you won't always have shrew (unless you get it yourself. Costs too many points IMO). Also, you know how SoW always runs out just as you're trying to run across a zone to get away from a mob? Yeah... a lot of higher mobs run at SoW speed or better, but you have a much better chance of out running them with RUN III then nothing. That being said, I would still wait until at least 55 to bother with it. At 56 my ranger has 2 yellow bubbles of AA exp. That's it. And I only have that b/c I recently decided I would start collecting AA on raids instead of regular exp. I figure the regular exp isn't going to amount to much anyway.
