Why multiple accounts on FV?Follow

Why based questions often have emotional responses. Logic is not the base of the human thought process. Emotion is. If a why based question regarding thought process is posed, an emotion based response must be allowed and accepted.

if you asked if I understand that I'd say yes but a logical approach must be allowed.

Rhetorical question. Kudos on being enough of a twit to answer it, though.

Mistake 1:

Quote:
I try to look at that unbiased so I would *prefer* that no one posts here who "thinks he knows the answer" or "knows someone who does have more than one" but only people ACTUALLY HAVING 2+ ACCOUNTS on Firiona Vie.

You can't try to dictate responses. We really don't care if you want limited input.

Mistake 2:

Quote:
I just ask myself if FV wasn't planned to be a one-charakter-per-person server. Otherwise it would have been just a clever marketing plot which a LOT of people fell for. ;)

It was planed to be 1 charactor per account. This keeps EVERYONE from having mules to sell in the bazaar/tradeskill/foragers/to get items from oppisite faction areas

Mistake 3:

Quote:
So in your opinion Firiona Vie WAS planned as a server which should just make more money than other servers and NOT invite people to have only one charakter on this very server.

Money has nothing to do with that server. I know 12 different people that 2-box in my guild alone (Current and/or ex-members). That does not count the 7-8 husband wife combos we also have. This is not FV. The act of 2-boxing has NOTHING to do with that server any more than every other server.

Mistake 4:

Quote:
a simple "yes" will be accepted without further comment...

Entended or not this came accross very condencending.

Mistake 5:

Quote:
I don't know - I never thought of playing with 2 chars at once although it sound nice to have a SOW, Rez or Bind whenever i want one. I just didn't know how I should manage that with one PC.

Less a mistake than a misunderstanding, Everyone that I know who 2 boxes, does it on 2 PC's, myself included. I have 2 PC's set up thru a router over a cable modem and run both at once.

I know some folks use EQWindow or run 2 instances of EQ on same PC but I can not do that near as effectivly.

Mistake 6:

By your own admission in other posts you are relitivly new to EQ in general. The folks that have been around for 3+ years really don't care for the new guy that comes in and imposes his will on the way things should be done, in his opinion.

Want questions answered? sure happy to assist.

Want opinions? Great we got lots of those

But try to keep it polite or folks will stop answering any post you ever make.

********

That said...
I dont play on FV. Had not had 50 levels invested when it was created I would have started there, as I thinks its (original) rules were the rules EQ should have always had.

I play 2 accounts at same time, but dont pay for 1 (RL friend I use from time to time) It has nothing to do with making a cleric on my own account, it has everything to do with

No cleric on to ress myself or a friend? Sec BRT

Need a cleric to make a group? Sec BRT

Something droped in my farming that is lore? Full of stuff? Need to check bazzar with out walking that far? Want to watch that spawn while running errands or assisting someone? Can do all those too.

That is just the tip of the ice berg...

I also 2-box but not on FV. And I enjoy being able to do more with the 2 toons than if I were just 1. 2-boxing has taught me some things. I used to rely on my mouse to do everything even click my hot buttons. Click..Click..Click When I started 2-boxing I really learned to appreciate using key strokes and not worrying about missing my mark with the mouse. My work in groups has greatly improved by the increase in reaction time.

A RL friend of mine introduced me to this game and also to his RL friends that also played. Each person he introduced me to MULTI-boxed 2-3-4 toons at a time. They would raid with 14+ toons and only need to have 5 people online to do it. Granted at times they were not very chatty, but who could blame em. But things got done. Mobs fell at their feet. Loot dropped in hordes. And they had fun.

For me it is about having fun and keeping busy. I am not one to click the "Attack" button and then sit back and wait for "kick" etc. to pop up so I can push it again. And I am also not one to just /stand, /cast, /sit, rinse, repeat. By 2-boxing I get to do both.

No it couldn't. In no way can they prevent multiple account holding. What if you are following the letter of the EULA scrupulously and you and your partner play on the same PC? You obviously have 2 accounts since account-sharing is forbidden. How can the software tell which of you is sitting in the chair?
I meant two accounts on the same time

This was the rudeness. You have no rights to close down anyone's options to comment. We are not pupils in some class you are teaching. Here you are the one who has much to learn.
I meant without further comment from my side - it was an invitation that a yes had closed the discussion from my side. And I wonder wich field you meant I have much to learn.

I doubt these few answers represent the some hundred people that strolled through the zones I just wandered through on Vie till I lost connection.

I do not play on FV and never have. No interest in it. The original question has a very simple answer:

I have three accounts for one reason: Because I want to.

If that's not sufficient, tough. Bang your head against whatever preconceived notions you like, talk about it and hash it out as much as you like, disbelieve it if you want. Nothing changes.

Why do I pay 'thrice'? Because I want to. Point blank and simple.

Why make this harder than it is? To me, the price is acceptable. End of discussion, as far as I'm concerned.

Leiany,

Let me give you a little tip. You are a very inexperienced Everquest player. This is very obvious to many of us who have been playing a long time. This is not a bad thing in and of itself, however arrogance and intolerance for viewpoints that differ from yours, in light of this lack of knowledge, is going to make people lose their patience very quickly.

By the way, lots of people who post here play on FV. Not a wise choice place to risk building a bad reputation. Capice?

If I were you, I would use this board as a place to learn, rather than a place to pontificate. This is general advice, and not just as a result of your attitude in this thread.

i had 2 accounts when velious released. i only recently started playing on FV and now have a L11 paladin on there. I'm going to use my second account to create a character of each race and teach my pally every language that can be learned that way, then create a chanter to 2-box with the paladin.

i like grouping but i like soloing more. playing 2 toons just makes soloing that much easier. plus i dont see any reason to dump all the gear and money i collected when i create a new toon if i dont know anyone that can do the tradeoff with me. (the benefits are endless)

oh, and FYI (dunno if this has been said already)...FV is a "Role Playing Preferred" server. says it right on the server list...not required, but preferred.

Gosh! Some people have TIME to waste.... and I am NOT talking about Leiany!!!!!

Leiany, you have the right to ask whatever question you want in which ever way you want. That IS the purpose of a forum. Unfortunately, some people will ALWAYS assume ownership of the "answer" section and take ANY, I repeat ANY other comment as an attack on their person, and let me not forget, call people that post anonymous messages cowards, as if having an E-mail attached to a posting will grant validity to their points.

To "the others", and you know VERY WELL who you are, Flame all you want, I won't be back to read the flames. I am just doing my best to make your day a happy one, for what would be another day for you without another post to rant about, another opportunity to save the world from the ignorance that is consuming it? Go ahead, post your comment, we all know you can not be outsmarted, we all now you have to have the last word. We all know you WILL post again, and again, and again... Well, you win, you will have the last word/posting. I got better things to do with my time.

Too bad the forums do not have /ignore command ;-(

Oh... I almost forgot to answer your original question, Leiany! I dual box and have 2 accounts on FV so I can spare the people that "answered" your question in this post from the pain of, mistakenly, of course, ending up grouping with me.

I play on FV. I have two accounts. I pay for two accounts even though I don't two box becuase I abhor playing on the normal blue servers. The immature rush to 65 attitude that is so prevelant on the normal blues is a great turn off and I avoid playing the alts I have there as much as possible.

FV has a much more mature player base especially at the higher levels. A large part of the reason for that maturity is the one character per account rule.

The 1 character per account rule helps encourage role play by helping you focus more on your main story line rather than being distracted by a myriad of alts. An alt cost money on FV so it better be worth your money to have it. It also helps in personal accountability. Scammers, griefers, rude jerks, d00ds are easily identifiable and stick out like a sore thumb. You don't have alts to hide behind.

Most scammer, griefer, jerk type people Don't want to shuck out the cost of multiple accounts just so they can be jerks or scam someone. Or they don't have the self discipline to keep themselves straight long enough to keep a good reputation, which you do need to be succesful on our server.

Having to reroll every time you scam someone or make it known that your a jerk could become very tiresome after awhile. Its the main reason why there are not that many of that kind of person above 30 on the server.

I meant that p.e. thats the way the Southern States of the 19th century U.S. thought about the Northern States regarding their issue to stop slavery.

History proved that it didn't help the Southern States to loose their patience with the Northern States who had no tolerance for the Southern viewpoint on slavery whichdiffered from their own although they had a serious lack of knowledge how strong the economy of the Southern States had to rely on slaves - they just got kicked in the ***.
