Casual EQ Player Website...Follow

Posting this in a few messageboards around. Thanks for the feedback.

A friend and I have played EQ on and off (mostly off) for a couple of years. We are not the typical EQ player. We have several toons with our highest being just in the 20s. Based on our limited amount of playtime, we are struggling with whether trying to enjoy EQ is just an exercise in futility for us. However, we very much enjoy the game even though we are very frustrated at our inability to keep up with other players, find groups, join guilds, get decent gear, etc. Since we very much enjoy playing the game, we started thinking about what we could do to allow casual gamers like us to enjoy EQ.

We have decided to begin a community website to support casual EQ players. The website would help casual players meet other casual players who will likely level at a similar pace, arrange outings, etc. There would also be a lot of other resources at the site including (of course) message boards catering to the casual player, tools to facilitate outings ahead of time, player profiles (and feedback?), introductory tutorials, low- to mid-level strategy guides and adventure guides, etc. There has also been some interest from high-level "rich" players who would like to help lower level players acquire decent equipment and needed plat as well as learn more about EQ.

Basically this post is just a request for feedback on the idea. What types of resources do you think are needed by casual EQ players? Do you think there is any demand for this type of a community? Have you seen it tried before? Is there already a community like this?

Thanks.
Gavin.

I like the idea.

I had eq periods where I could only play about 4 hours a week, and I would have loved to establish a time where I could get with other casual players and tear up Oasis. Lockjaw beware!

You should carefully consider the pros and cons of getting financial help from high level characters. Some people like getting nice stuff beyond their means to get naturally, but it often spoils some of the fun of finding relatively minor loot on your own.

Sounds like a great idea. Myself and a friend of mine are also casual players and would like to play more, but RL commitments prevent this.

I would be very interested as I am sure my friend would also, count us in...

I, too, am a casual player. Most of the people I worked with in the Fay where I began are now in their 50s and 60s.. while I slog along in my mid-30s and work solo a lot while looking for groups.

I would definately be interested in at least a message board solely for casual players. I live on Firiona Vie, so have no alts.. just me and my bows and blades.

If everyone associated with the website were just casual players, if would seem to reason that the website would also be run in a casual manner, meaning it would frequently be out of date and not really worth the effort.

I am a casual player as well, but find everything I need on this and a few other websites.

Now - a "casual player" guild, available on all servers - that would be useful...

Thanks for the honest feedback. If you have any other ideas or feedback please send an email to CasualEQ@Yahoo.com and reply to this thread. We have started building the tools for the website and would like to recruit a group of folks to help us beta test the tools soon (few weeks out probably). Please email us if you would like to be involved in this or even if you would just like to check it out once the site is further along. We are also recruiting some folks to help manage content and help manage the site, so let us know if you have energy for that as well. I will post a reply to this thread later once the site is far enough along to request feedback on it.

Thanks,
Gavin.
