Weekend Update!Follow

My plan was to level all four of my characters to 20 on the same day! I've been slowly working towards this (slowly, as I typically have extremely short periods in which to play). Thought I had everyone at 19, just a couple kills short of 20.

First was Miek (ranger) - Ding in PC.
Then Shorrty (my dwarf Pally). - Ding in Unrest!
Then back to PC, where my Vah Shir Shaman, Kikl, was dutifully awaiting his rite of passage. Ding!
Finally, Mieke (my bard, who I haven't played in about a month as I was working on everyone else). Only a few minutes to go until family responsibilities kicked in... To my dismay, I still have an entire 1/2 level to go! Worse, I hadn't played him in so long, I was rusty and attempted to attack a ghoul with my lute! LOADING, PLEASE WAIT! Agggh! Oh well... 3 outta 4 wasn't bad.

Later took Miek to Shadow Haven to train in Double Attack. Took me forever to find the Ranger trainer, then couldn't figure out how to get out of that location - had to look it up - took me a half an hour LOL! (click on tree!).

Gratz Mike, on almost converting the 80. :)

Didn't do much this weekend. Doing investigation in to guilds now that I am over 50. I have 1.5 blue till my first AA. Couldn't do it. Had to sleep. Will probably get Run 3 before I move too much higher. Depending on what the group wants to do, I may go 100% AA so I can stay low enough level to do a Naggy or Vox raid with my friends.

Man, Alla's is slow today...anyway, on with the update.

Really good weekend. Started Friday night 10% into 64. By the way, yes, I HATE 64! Evil, evil level. Actually not too evil, just making me hunt out of my comfort zone in higher tier PoP for anything near decent xp.

Anyway, did a really fun group in PoS desert for a few hours on Friday. While my 58.5 shaman who I was boxing dinged 59 and nearly another 2 yellows in that time, I got from 10% to 35% in the same time - ugh.

Saturday, Raided Ssra for the first time, and had a great time. No real noteworthy targets were up, but checking out the zone was fun. Also got beat down by a big nasty in AR - ow.

Then got in a mostly-guild group in BoT. It was my first time hunting there, and I was MT to boot. 64, no real AA's, and my trust un-aug'ed GSoT. Luckily my group was good, and I managed to get to about 70% of 64! In addition, I tanked those nastier than anything PH mobs there, we beat down a named, and we actually wasted a Wing Boss! Lemme tell ya, there's nothing more confidence inspiring for a warrior than walking away from a fight where you're getting pounded for over 700hp, in an xp group. For me, it was near game-changing in importance. There's not much more outside of possibly Elemental, that I'm going to encounter in an xp situation. Really made my day. Did HoH later on, in a tanking role, and was now unimpressed at the 300-400hp hits I was taking there. It seemed almost too easy now, where last week I would have really stressed. Perspective is an interesting thing.

Sunday, Velious bonkage. Took down Zlandi for the first time as a guild (got close a little while back) and then went for some fun in Kael. After a shakey first attempt, and on a bad pull by yours truly (grr), Vindi + 2 Guardians died. Our MT did most of the work, but we were a little lacking on DPS and died after /disc dropped. So tanking duties got placed on my shoulders, and thanks to a great effort by the guild, Vindi lay dead at our feet. A big goal in this warrior's list checked off.

Later, did some Siren farming, got some hair, and thanks to a buddy finished Shawl#6 for my shaman. Finished off the night with a fun LDoN. All in all, a really great weekend.

Dinged 45 with my shaman! Did a couple of LDoNs and grouped in Dreadlands. Going to work on my Stoicism quest this week. Still working, slightly, with my ranger. She is lvl 27 now...but needs more attention. Nevermind, the shammie has my attention right now!

This weekend I made a huge discovery. I finally figued out after 65 lvls and 21AA's that I don't like being a Cleric...a bit slow huh? =P

But alas it seems my mistake is turning into a nice little bonus as "Honorable Defender" my Froglok Paladin has a pet Cleric to follow him. My Pally reached lvl 42 this weekend, which was a nice jump from lvl 38 which he was on Friday. I am definatly enjoying the life of a Pally much more than my Cleric, plus when you can be a Frog how can you not have fun? =D

Friday - Increasingly frustrated at frequency of client crashes. (Pre Dec 17 download was about 1 crash a month, since then risen from 2-3 a week to many per day Smiley: glare.)
So!. . . (Positive Mental Attitude) - Checked drivers for all hardware - all up to date, so a spring clean of the HDD - a few uninstalls and treated it to full scandisk and defrag.
Saturday - Died twice with my Ranger (Client crashes mid-melee in Gunthak). Getting Bloody annoyed by now. Smiley: banghead
Scoured all the technical fora - no suggestions I haven't already tried. All hardware status scans show negative. Nothing affected except EQ. I've come to the conclusion that the client doesn't like my set-up. :-(

Sunday - Used my crappy old PC for corpse runs etc. Runs as laggy as ever but no crashes. Ran a clean install of EQ on my good machine and spent happy hours while the client patched. All graphics set to minimum. Hey Presto! Client Crash within 10 mins Smiley: bah

In summary - I'm now confident that there's a mismatch between my hardware and the latest EQ client since 17-Dec. Worked fine on both machines pre-patch, works fine on crappy PC since.
/Whinging Brit Mode Off

Monday - RL Employer Faction Quest - tried the turn in for the 'Pay Rise' quest, but the boss still only cons 'indifferent'.
Apparently I need to do the 'fill in mindless forms' quest and hand in a few stacks of 'humble pie' to the npc in HR.
Tempted to scrap this toon and start afresh but my Mortgage is Lore, No Rent and No Drop. Smiley: frown

Edit: My 11 year old son persuaded me to remove RAM DIMMs one at a time. After repeatedly telling him to shut up, I discovered he was right. A 256Mb card was causing errors. I will be killing him shortly and selling his body for medical experiments as just revenge for making me feel so Bloody Stupid!!!

Thanks - depending on how things go, I might try the same thing at 25 or 30 (YEARS from now, at the current pace...)

More than likely, though, I'll eventually get real happy with a single character and stick with him. Until then, it's a little of this and a little of that...

I really look forward to your weekend updates. Smiley: laugh

Oh, Nobby, tsk tsk, killing a child because he is more tech oriented than one of us adults, tsk, tsk (though the idea of facing him telling ALL your friends and his...and you will NEVER live it down...) Just remember murdering a child makes you KOS.
Besides, they are BORN to tech. Most 3 year olds can troubleshoot a vcr/dvd/cable/tv hookup and point their pudgy sticky little fingers at the problem, and toddle over and fix it while you are still in the cursing stage, having ignored their pointing. Then they pop a movie in the dvd and it takes you a while to notice the whole set up is working and Ice Age is on for the 400th time and they have wandered off to tell their other parent you are saying "bad" words.

Make sure your VCR/DVD player is programmed first!

My weekend was minimally productive, as opposed to most which are usually deductive. (the opposite of productive?) I traded some caster-stat-heavy piercing weapon that my cleric got, for a kick *** 1hb for my ranger (Grand Sceptre of Ice > Centi Warhammer).

Took the ranger to Rathe Mtns, fought over a few HGs, made about 500pp, ran back to the Feerott Book at about double carrying weight. Used the ranger to help my necro get his Harvester - not the greatest item in the world but hey, I feel like a real Necro now that I have a scythe!

Got into a few groups with the necro. Did one with 4 people (necro, twinked warrior+monk 2boxer, shaman). Ripped through Mistmoore in about 20 minutes. Lost the shaman, got a new adventure with just the 3 of us. I died a few times but we finished the adventure. I ended up keeping all the loots from both adventures somehow (the twinked 2boxer didn't want any), worth about 600pp (this for level 35 dungeon). Proceeded to kill the necro a few times (Gunthak, LGuk) then got a group in Dawnshroud where we died a few times, then did a good old grind. I dinged 36 and got almost to 37. Went back to a Mistmoore adventure and finally got 37.

At some point I also got my cleric flagged for BoT - I didn't know what we were supposed to do; apparently it was a "group flag" process where all I had to do was show up in PoS. Also bought Pacify. Yes, at level 60 I was using Calm (a level 20? spell) as my single-target paci. Ah, well.

Good weekend in all.

Well Thursday was a first for my guild. We took down the Emporer in SSra! Smiley: grin I know its not the weekend but .. but .. it was Emp, omg!
This means we have now killed everything in SSra. So I guess its only wards to Vex Thal now! PoP God killing, Emp killing. Planes are not far away now Smiley: smile
Strangely enough we seem to be getting a lot of applicants to join our ranks recently Smiley: laugh

Sundays raid seemed lacklustre by comparison. Nothing was up of any consequence so we ended up farming Seru key parts. We decided not to attempt Seru the same day as we really need a few more bane seru weapons. So the seemingly endless farming for parts continues. Instead it was onwards to kill the cystal dragon in PoV to backflag people.

Also tagged as a guest with Kozz and the motley crew that is SoC on the "Shards of Chaos" Raid in the evening. A flawless kill on Kland, GRATS! They very nicely let me tank Vindi for the 24 seconds of my weaponshield disc too Smiley: wink I see great things for SoC, a growing guild with great people. I love you guys!

Still being on vacation, the days are all sort of rolled inot one, not sure where the weekend started and ended.

Comers to an end soon though Smiley: frown

Somewhere along the line the new Cleric passed through 39 and 40 amid a stream of MM LDoN's.

Poor poor Iluien, I jokingly said this was his worst nightmare, its no longer a joke. I log on Cleric and Celeni, click on LFG window, summon up some food and water and one or both of them has a tell for a group.

Somewhere along the weekend Celeni passed into 59 and is half way to 60, probably while healing in PoI, so she is now leaving him behind in levels too.

Ahh well, I have to admit to really enjoying playing a Cleric, and as you know I always liked the Druid, but now at her level the spells are really becoming powerful and she is so much more interesting.

Hell Smash, I may make it into Sleepers after all Smiley: grin

Logged onto my 14 chanter for kicks, only got about 2 blue before I got a tell to go do some LDoN with my ranger. Ended up going to Grieg's End with a group. One bad pull and the cleric and chanter were down. Curse the other casters for having gate *shakes fist*.

Other than that, tried to start epic quest, worked on the brewing a little (and ofcourse the alcohol tolerance, 191 now), and was able to do a little PvP when some bastage bard mistook me from a guy on Discord server. Apparently, someone out there liked my name and used it on Discord, and he then proceeded to tarnish my reputation... Atleast that's my theory.

Had a great weekend! My lvl 9 bard was wandering out to W. Karana to see if I could split the 2 bandits on the road so I could get a sash and complete my newbie quest armor. One is red and one is yellow and I have a temperance cast on me. I lull the red one with my lvl 9 song and pull the yellow. Everything is going fine and I am twisting 3 spells very nicely.. when a red con bandit wandering past decides to join in. Managed to finish both those off with 50% health and yet ANOTHER yellow con bandit starts knocking me around from behind me. Managed to finish him off with about 20% health left. First time I had a lvl 9 char take on a red and 2 yellows!

Then someone was nice enough to give me a skinning knife so I could make a lq bear pelt after methodically slaughtering the entire E Comm population of every last bear I could kill! Not ONE lq pelt every dropped... you'd think the high quality would be a rarer drop eh?

Did some elemental minis and Xegony, not much of interest to report there. Did kill Talendor with a couple of mages (just healed the mage pets until he ran, then we all ran in and meleed, silliest thing ever). Grats rogue RBB, and some passing paladin the epic book.

PL'd my new shaman to 29, actually brought a dusty ranger alt over to Paw for DPS and PL'd both of them. They might make a decent team one day.

Last night we started a new rotation in Time. Last week's rotation was like Groundhog's Day, we kept doing Phase 1-4 over and over - just kept respawning every day. (SOE hates my guild, I think. Every Time rotation has been dorked up in some way for us.) Hoping for better tonight, we should zone in halfway through Phase 5 but we'll see.

Friday: brought my new born son home from hospital and spent the evening becoming aquainted with the joys of nappies <diapers> and sleepless nights, well he is a happy contented little soul and doesn't cry very much so sleep is ok and he is a great leg walmer.

saturday: See above Dad in euphoric haze of happiness and sleep deprivation

sunday: sleep under control but fear that EQ will take sideline for next week or lifetime did manage to really annoy Skeet in OoT so weekend ended as well as it started Smiley: grin

Samira, I don't recall the specifics, but according to the Time guilds on the 7th hammer server boards, Time is bugged, per SOE and the recommendation is not to even attempt it for a little while. So, I hope this assuages your fears that they hate you in particular. :)

Lately I've been slowing down on the EQ front. The guild is sort of sputtering, a lot of my better friends are either playing less or are in GoD beta so they're never on and so I'm left with little to do with my main except pick-ups. I'm not so excited about pick-up groups with my main, mostly because I'm used to being able to work so well with my usual group so I play a lot of alts or don't play at all.

Did a couple LDoNs with my rogue, the highest of my alts currently. Decided, for no good reason to start a shadowknight. Made a female Erudite SK based solely on the fact that I'd never seen one. Started with a Ry'Gorr coif and thought "that pink drape on my head looks dumb. I think I have a plate helm here somewhere." Threw a crested helm from the dustbin on her and thought "Sweet holy mother of Tunare!" I wouldn't have guessed anything could be uglier than the Velious helms but the unholy merger of coffee can and welding mask had it down cold. Pink drape is looking pretty good right now.

Demoted my main to farming duty for a night and collected bags for my weakling Erudite from Permafrost, Kaesora, Najena and Crystal Caverns. Still need to grab the one from LGuk. Too lazy to do the Grimmling Runner bit until I know I'm keeping the character as more than a passing fancy, but the others I knocked out in an evening. The token function is really nice for transferring bags; no more juggling in the shared slots, especially with Lore satchels.

Friday, camp grimrot and hunt spires with Courtin the cleric. ding 35. Help guildmate outfit his paladin with some of my bazzar items.

Sat- Laundry, shopping, no grimrot, more spires, Jonwin joins guild for raid in the deep. We take out THO in about 5 mins. (seemed longer may have been shorter.) Nice to die only once, and that was in the walkout when the CH is a tad slow.

Sunday- still no grimrott. 3 weeks now and have only seen the skeleton form once. Human never. No guild raids so I log on Courting and take him to spires, then into paw with a paladin and shaman. Had to ask them to stop drinking, it does not raise manna faster.

Monday - Took jonwin to tofs with guild group ended up as a mage, cleric and self when raid was called. Since im way below most guild members at 52 I decided exp was more important. Unfortunately 5th floor was camped, and mobs on the 6th were mostly lb to me and green to cleric. Left after an hour.

Paheyn Dont tell me you used a skining knife to make a HQ bear pelt into LQ. If you did DONT DO THAT. Sell you hq pelt for 20 to 30 p and buy a lq pelt. Never lower a HQ bear pelt please.

Jonwin,

To some of us the most important thing is time, Plat is not an issue, time is.

A friend was helping me raise my skills to do the 8th shawl quest. He gave 100 HQ hopper hides to assist my smithing skill =D. The last thing I wanted to do was try and sell them to buy LQ hides. Besides those got me to 172 smithing. And once I have my 8th shawl done, that is all that matters.

Selling HQ for 20pp and buying LQ for 10-15pp is not worth it to me. The 1000pp profit isnt worth the effort and the time I would have to wait. No way I could sell 100 HQ in any reasonable time frame, even if it was only 2-3 days.

I am sure if 1 LQ is all you wanted and you had looted 10 HQ wittleing 1 down isn't going to hurt you that much in the long run.
