Powerleveling a friend...suggestions where and how to huntFollow

Interested in suggestions for good spots to powerlevel a friend. The firend now has a Lv 11 Halfling Paladin (don't ask) and using my Lv 50 Druid interested in what spots and general tactics for powerleveling you could suggest. Oh yes and limited for now to the old world as they bought the LDoN expansion pack.

So far weve dont Misty, bit of the dungeon off Misty (I forget), Crushbone, South Karana and currently on Kerra Isle.

Keeping the buffs up and using thorns so the baddies bang them selfs to death...but if the level difference is too much that last 12% of HP can take forever.

Thanks for the ideas, all appreciated from Lv11 up to the 40's.

WHy worry about the last 12% of health. As long as he does more than 50 % of the damage he gets the exp. So why do you not just kill it for him at the last part?

Orc Highway in Oasis would be a good idea. Tons of red con mobs for that level; just let them beat to death on the dmg shield while healing. And after the pally does 50% to the mob, just nuke it dead.

if you use a dmg shield, dont nuke after 50% because the dmg done by the dmg shield doesn't count as his. at his lvl, the dmg shield will do all of the work, dont worry about nuking.

as for places in the old world, i'm not really sure. i've used expansion zones in all the power lvling ive done.

This strat is good to get your character to lvl 18 in like an hour or 2.

1) Go to Kurns' Tower off of Field of bone.
2) Dmg shield your druid and park your PL at the entrance.
3) Run your druid around the tower picking up as many skellies as possible and train them back down to entrance. After level 16, you will need to move downstairs and pull the badgers instead.
4) As the skellies are hitting your druid (taking damage from sheild), have your PL pick away and do at least 1 dmg to each of the skellies before they die. AoE is wicked at this.

PL will get all the EXP from each skellie that dies as long as druid doesnt do any up front damage to the skellies.

Ive managed to PL my characters from 8 to 18 in less than 2 hours using this method. Also set a personal best of yanking 34 skellies on one train. It was a riot.

Undead are great for powerleveling because they don't run.

Other favorite places for that level: Karana bandit camps, Karana gnolls, Befallen.

Bandits will take him to 13 or so, gnolls to 17, then just park yourselves up on a hill in EK and settle down to killing some spiders and gorge hounds.

If it isn't crowded with powerlevelers on your server Unrest rules for PLing paladins.

I have a devious idea. Never tried but may work well.

Go to SouthWest of WK and there are two corrupted Guards (Dolan and Mc__). Your level 50 druid can snare one and stack dots on him. I think Dolan is level 30 so you should stack a level 44 drone + a level 34 drone; the other guy is level 38 so you should stack all your dots. The purpose is not to kill him but get him to low health first. At level 50 you should be able to single pull the level 38 guard (the level 30 guard will not add), or you can use harmony. After 1 minute of kiting the guard will be below 20% hp and in flee mode. Now have the paladin go kick his *&@ from behind (to avoid reptoire). Once the paladin does 1 point of damage, the druid can hit the guy with another big dot then immediately lesser succor. When the guard dies the paladin should have all the exp. Plus he can loot the guard and turn in the bracer to NK's captain for more exps.

The two guards' spawn time is around 10 minutes, so it will be a pretty easy camp. You can even two-box the druid and paladin without any problem. If you feel that the spawn time is too long, there are two good guards north to the camp for you to kill (just don't loot the bracer).

Caution: First of all this is just an idea and not tested -- it is entirely possible that the paladin may not get exp from this method. Second there are serious faction hits in Qeynos corrupted guards and the circle of unseen hands (there are two other faction hits but they are minor). You may need to kill a lot of bandits to repair the faction if you want to pass Qeynos safely. Thirdly if you decide to kill the good guards as well, there will be more faction hits in Qeynos, and there is a bard NPC in the same tower as the good guards who may add.

Not sure what server your on but I found the little island that holds the arena perfect. You can sit in the entry of the zone, pull one bird at a time without aggro and kill. I have never found anyone there though it seems to be a get away for some of us that like to stay out of the traffic of PVP. At 11 everything is red so your 50 Druid will be good in helping him. The birds in the two main towers at 17 were red, yellow and dark blue to me. The birds in the lower ledges and on the docks were green so stick to them. Also the birds are not aggressive and do not attack even if you are killing outside the zone. This is not true at the little bird city where they will aggro and help each other. Best part is you can go into the arena and bind and also zone if you get in trouble. At 50 you probably know this but when passing the gnoll camp go high on the side of the hill to the zone wall and around them. I made the mistake and tried to go invis and lost it. BAD DEAL! The swim to the island is safe nothing in the waters thus far and it really helps the swimming experience.

Ive PL'd MANY new friends with my 50's druid.

My guide to PL'n is as.

1-6 lvl-- Misty Thicket (undead rats & Orc camps)
6-10 Crushbone
10-15 Estate of Undead
15-20 Paludal Caverns ( the Phlargs away from all the camps and such)
20-24-30 South Karana (aviaks 1st then inside Splitpaw)

main focus here is dungeon exp
lvls 1-11 use a mid 20's DS
12 & beyond use current best
Of course all best available buffs and Chloro.

I personally dont PL peeps beyond 30 as they need to get some type o grpn exp in

Hope this helps and GL.

1-6 - Whatever's your Home zone (kill those spideys and bats Smiley: smile)
6-23 - Paludal (Level 6?!?! You Crazy?Smiley: jawdrop)
Nope! Smiley: cool - with a decent PL'er, enter PC from the Shadeweavers Thicket end (not the Shadow Haven end) and work along. I've PL'd from 5 to 20 in a couple of hours several times .
23 - 40 Gunthak Beach

All of the above assume the PL'er is high enough (50+) and knows what he/she is doing, but I've done this oodles of times.

I'm not dismissing any of the above ideas - but this works very well for me and saves swapping zones every few levels.

I totally agree with going to Kurn's Tower if all you have is old world. HOWEVER, you're PLing a tank. The method above will hardly ever raise your defensive stats at all. The traditional approach of just buffing up the paladin and standard healing will produce nearly the same speed within Kurn's.

You will also get those needed defensive increases since the paladin is the one being hit. Kurn's moves at about the same speed as Paludal, but it only tops out around 18 at the highest.

After Kurn's I would go to Najena. A zone off of Lavastorm. There is a real nice modifier in there as well and typically empty. You can go to mid 20's rather easy in there.

After Najena I would go to Sol A. (Solusek's Eye) It is also off of Lavastorm. You can easily go up to level 34 in this zone and make some decent cash off the goblins for a PL area.

After Sol A you should be around level 34 and able to head on out Lower Guk (Live Side, some dead). That should take you up to 40ish.

After that you really only have a couple of old world options. Sol B or Lower Guk (Dead Side). I personally like Lower Guk better, especially since it's a paladin that you're PLing. The undead procs on his sword will help add in faster killing.

So in summary:
1) Kurn's
2) Najena
3) Sol A
4) Lower Guk (Live than Dead)

I think PLing you friend is a bad idea.

But if you must do it, Butcherblock Bandits, then Dagnor's Cauldron for goblins, then Unrest, then Kedge Keep. Nothing can match this, especially for a Pally.

Please at least ensure that you also teach your friend about grouping tactics, the need for training skills and talk with him about how some of the other classes work.

And yes, you should buff and DS him and pull for him, but you should let him tank and nuke, as soos as he gets his heals and stuns, get him to use them all the time.

When he gets meditate, make sure you tell him to go drop as many training points as he can spare into it and then practice the hell out of it.

You should be pulling reds, around four levels higher than him all the time and heal him while he tanks. This way you can make sure his offense/defense/weapon skills are getting the maximum work out.

For that last 12%, when he gets root, tell him to stun and root the mob, this makes sure the mob keeps hitting and uses the DS.

When he has the DD and mana he should nuke for the last 12%. That is why you should go to Unrest.

the easiest thing to do is goto SOLA and pull with the druid, keep up the ds on the druid and the paly both, also chloro, pull multiple mobs, 3-6 no more. and let them beat on the druid, with the paly peeling off one or two at a time(by melee) keep your level 5 druid root memmed (so as to avoid outdamaging the paly) you only need to root the last mob standing, as the gobs won't run untill there is only one left, and when it is rooted, it will continue to hit your friend(for the damage shield), you should be able to get from level 12 to level 29 in about 4 hours. GL =)
