online anti casino petitionFollow

Casino spam is out of control. Was in bazaar today and there were four casinos spamming over each other and you could'nt even shop what was being /auctioned it was so bad. This BTW was on Fennin Ro. I personally have petitioned and emailed Sony since about a month after this awful practice started. They generally do not care as long as they are getting their subscription money. Along with the casinos also come the Scammerz. They are many. They make alts to do their casinos and when people win the majority of them /q and log to their main and continue life as if nothing as happened. Later they will make another alt and the ugly process starts all over again.
I beleive that a mass online petition would prompt Sony to make some changes as in possibly make it a 7 day suspension for having a casino in any other place besides SH.
Lets start here. If enough of you feel the same way about the casinos and what it is doing to EQ. Leave a post here and when enough have posted that they too wish to rid EQ of casinos then i will make a website for all to post and make Sony aware of it :) Thanks for reading this and gl

I am certain that Sony will ignore any such petition. They stated their viewpoint clearly when they added their own aborted attempt at a casino. Players are welcome to run a casino if they wish, although Sony warns that they neither support them, nor reimburse in the case of a scam. This was in the casino patch message, which also included a tidbit regarding the 4 stalls near the game casino in which players could set up shop to help clear the spam from other zones.

However, the ignore list is generally up to the task of filtering out these individuals. I find that when my list fills up those at the beginning have already gone on to create new casinos, and I am rarely spammed by the same person twice. It may be annoying, but /ignore does help.

It's a noble cause, my friend. I do however doubt that this petition will be successful. Best of luck though.

Just a guess but Anonymous was either:

a) Recently scammed by a casino
b) Recently lost a bucket of money to a casino "by the rules"

Although I'm not a fan of casinos by a longshot, they do hold value in separating a fool with some of his money. Way too much money in EQ to begin with.

Consider using a Filter in the options box when going to the Bazaar. Much of the OOC and Shout traffic isn't worth reading anyways, so just click on the filter button. Makes life much quieter.

there is an easy way not to be bothered by Casino's ... /ignore works a treat for me.

With the best will in the world a petition against this will not achive anything. there are far worse things in the game that they have done nothing about, so i wouldn't hold my breath.

I believe you can also filter out "other" messages. I am curious though. What spam are you having problems with? The shouts/ooc? Or the randoms themselves?

If you're in the bazaar, just filter out all but /auction channels. Um. If it really bothers you, filter out everything. What the hell are you doing looking at the spam anyway? The only reason people send out their wares in one channel or another is to try to get you to buy from them instead of someone else. Odds are, their price is higher then someone eles' as well. When I go to the bazaar, I completely ignore the spam. I've never once bought something because someone yelled it out, no matter what channel they used. I take my time. I look at lists of stuff for sale. I price compare. You are completely defeating the entire purpose of the bazaar if you're looking at shouted lists of goods in order to find something to buy. That's called impulse buying. The folks selling their wares are relying on folks doing that instead of taking their time and actually using the features of the bazaar to find the best deal.

Sheesh. If I wanted to wade through pages of folks shouting out their wares, I'd go back to the old EC tunnel days. Why on earth do that now when you've got a nice gui that allows you to look up the prices of everything in the bazaar, and is completely unaffected by any spam? Heck. When I go to the bazaar, I ignore all the zonewide channels as a matter of course. That way I don't miss the all important guildchat (which is much more interesting btw). Dunno. YMMV...
