Does anyone know the chances of getting certain items out of WC? I've seen some of these at AH so thought they might be regular things. Is that true?

Just a question, cause I've always wondered but no-one can tell me, how do you do heroic wailing caverns? Like, how do you start it? Do you go through a different portal, do you have to do a quest, etc

As a Level 33 Hunter I solo it for the Deviate scales, and perfect deviate scales. With them I can make Deviate Scale Belt. It sells great for low level Twinks and I can make them all the time as long as I run thru WC. With selling them at 15-24g each I can fund my other game play. Yes the bragging rights to solo are nice but some times it is a needed thing to do.. Besides it is not like i am taking the items from some one else, I sell the items in the AH so that those that cant get a group have access to the items. just my 2cents

1: all drops go to yourself
2: dont have to deal with dumbarses.
3: for sake of saying you soloed it.
4: gear for alt chars.
5: dont have to watch GREEDY ppl roll need on everything, even stuff the cant use thats BoP, just to vendor or DE it.

oh and these days most of the good RPGs are only online cuz game makers more concerned with MMORPGs due to the monthly fees.

There is a loot option called "Need before Greed" that was designed to exactly address your concern. You might want to ask party members if they would would agree to the use of that loot option.

As far as DE goes, I dont fully understand your point.
Isn't DE a profession skill and thus isn't DE a need for an Enchanter?
Some parties will split the sale of the DE.

2: dont have to deal with dumbarses.

If you can solo an instance then only dumbarses at your level would want to go with you. If you can solo (which would be because you can't stealth and/or you're not 10-20 levels above the instance's level) then maybe you have forgotten about the time when you were a dumbarse noob. And there are guilds that will help educate those dumbarses (who might just kick out the greedy dumbarses). Maybe you can't tolerate human errors, so you just like playing solo. I would have no problem (at all) with your lacking such tolerance (because you would be playing solo).

True, "most" are online.
You seem to be stating your desire to find one of those "good RPG's" that isn't online.
Maybe you ought to look for one...:).

I think the other reasons you stated to solo are good ones.
Another is farming.

Sometimes I'll go and do an instance that I never got a chance to do when I was a lower level. For example, as an orc character doing WC was fine since I spent a lot of time in that area but i never got to the forsaken area until later so I did the intance there solo just to explore what was in there. I play the game for more than just drops and xp.
Also, sometimes it's a pain to get a decent group together. If I go in a group, I prefer it to be with people I've played with enough to know somewhat (like in the same guild). Sometimes it's hard to get a feew of them available at a convenient time so at times I'd rather just solo it than go with complete strangers who inevitably include one or two complete gits.

I solo instances because I usually get a blue BoE item each time from them. I can run them on my own time, do as much as I want before I exit, and I also get other neat drops for my alts. There's no exp, sure, but it's still fun to crush them skulls.

Oh, and DE.

I was able to Solo WC with my warrior at 32. Did not try before that lvl so not sure. It might be able to be done before 32. It was pretty easy at 32. I didn't die one. However the end boss was a real real pain in the ass. It was close but I ended up on top. Since your 27 might want to go in at 30 to see if you can or not.

If it's a horde only quest only a horde character can get the reward.

The quest for those shoulders leads to ratchet though, doesn't it? If so, alliance should be able to get it as well, since ratchet is a neutral town.

I think you need herbalism for that quest as he wouldn't speak to me :(

He did speak to me when I went back but can't remember seeing the exclamation mark above his head. The good thing is you don't need to enter the instance to get the Serpentbloom. I just hung around the entrance and where the goblin hangs out and never went beyond the first pool of water and managed to get the lot. It involved a bit of time but good for grinding :)

The first time we did WC, we spent a lot of time trying to get to the upper level. It is easy to get lost. When you follow the long ramp up from the water falls, you will go from the south to the north side of the instance. When you reach the point of having to choose which way to go (fork in the tunnels), keep to the outside (north) wall and follow that around to Skum.

After Skum, you will come to a largish room where you will have just started going south. You will need to turn back towards the center of the instance (you will be going west) and there is a passageway that leads up to Lord Serpentis and what's-its-name the elemental bosses.

If you have the Kosmos map add-on, it will be infinitely easier to find your way, and there is an on-line walk through that traces the path (but it is still hard to follow because there are overlapping tunnels at multiple levels).

If this seems hard to figure out, just wait until you actually run the instance!

I don't know if this will be any help, but you eventually come to a spot where you run to a high openning, and there is a very small waterfall coming down from above. If you come to the edge, you can see there is a ledge lower then where you are that you have to jump to. If you miss the jump you will land all the way at the bottom, but if you make the jump, you will be on the level that the final boss is on.

The list above shows The Glowing Shard as a alliance quest, but it is doable by both sides. After you kill all 4 leaders of the fang, you need to talk to the druid at the front of the instance. He will walk to the altar of teh sleeping druid, and cast some spells to wake the druid. After you fight all teh monsters off, the last one, Mutanus the Devourer, drops the glowing shard, which then starts teh quest.
