Blackfathom Deeps, a partially underwater dungeon in Ashenvale, requires players to swim through an underwater entrance to gain entrance. The area is comprised of a series of watery caverns that twist and turn and ultimately lead to a deep underground temple devoted to the Old Gods. The Twilight's Hammer, a vicious and evil cult, controls this shrine and has recently joined forces with local naga and satyrs to defend the creature Aku'mai. It is rumored by the rare adventurer who has escaped this area that an Old God still lurks in the depths.

There are several different mob types found here for newer players. Each different mob has a variety of spells and abilities and their social aggro radius is quite large for the area so groups need to be aware of runners and CC whenever possible.

You enter the ruin, swim a bit, fight a bit and you got the gem, very quick and very easy.
Did it with lvl 21 pally

Or look at your big map of Ashenvale & it is the last MAJOR ruins north of the word " The " in The Zoram Strand. The entry point is in the ruins 2nd from the left, but the big ruins, not the small ones on the far left.
A couple of pots of 30min underwater breathing may come in handy, but are not really necessary. Also bring some Elixir of Defence if you are lower level.
One thing I had troubles with that people might not think about when they're going to do an instance, is jumping. There's a point after you first get into the instance where you have to make a series of jumps. I fell in the water almost every time, until the warrior showed me another way to go. Unfortunately, I do not remember what it was. It does involve swimming under the place where you are jumping, and you get to a little path that goes up to a mountain and you kind of edge your way around the mountain.
Also, if you're not undead, be aware of your breath. You might want to consider an underwater breathing potion for the earlier parts of this instance. In the first run (before 2 of our party mysteriously decided to quit the instance), the mage died of drowning, not even while fighting -- just because he was with two of us undead and we weren't having any breath problems, so were just hanging out in the water for a moment.
We wiped once, due to too much aggro in one room: they saw me healing and suddenly there were 4 on me, so I couldn't heal the tank, who was managing 4 herself, and well... We were more cautious after that.
Most of the important points have been noted in earlier posts, such as only lighting one candle at once.
A couple notes to the people who update this, though:
1. Still missing Amongst the Ruins as a quest for this instance.
2. The Horde version of Blackfathom Villainy is on this site, but is not listed here, nor in the quests per zone area, leading to lots of Horde people posting on the Alliance thread, thinking it's the only one. The only way I found the Horde version was by searching for it specifically.
Yskra: Rogue-in-training.
Verynie and Qenara: Druids.
DARKSHORE 43,35 yes its actually in the very bottom tip of Darkshore and not Ashenvale as everyone kept telling me.
You run right through the ZORAM Strand which is in Ashenvale's top NW corner on the coast but the second you get to Blackfathom Deeps it changes to Darkshore

Can a 38 night elf rogue solo BFD? Any parts that will be trouble? Is the money/drops worth it for level 38, or is there somewhere better to go solo? Don't say, SM please, I cannot seem to solo that effectively. Please let me know when you all think. TIA!

Rogues do it from behind really fast; Druids do it like a bear or a cat; Paladins need to be buffed alot to do it; Warriors do lots of damage when they do it; Mages do it to lots of people at once; Priests help other people do it; Warlocks do it with demons and over a long time; Hunters do it with their pets; Shamans do it to everyone but no one does it to them. Fighting and/or killing people that is ;)
I am a L48 hunter and I had no troubles.
:)
I did it for the items that my other char could disenchant ^^

i forgot what she was though, think she was another druid
there are definately a lot of adds here...a 46 mage could handle this with a little help i'm sure. i will be taking a lvl 22 druid in as a healer for my pet..will repost on outcome.
From there, just head north along the shore. :)
I've got a 32 protection spec pally, and though it's slow going killing sometimes... I've yet to die when I'm alone. Definitely good for the disenchants.
-- Hope someone replies to this... Thx
The mobs definitely come THREE at a time, even with the low aggro-radius and assist-radius at L55, in the humanoid area where Lord Kel'ris is. So, if yrou L38 rogue can handle 3xL26E then you can do it. Most of those mobs have 2.5k to 3.5k HP, and the bosses have 5.5k to 6.5k.
In this case, BFD is in NW Ashenvale near the coast in a square, 4-post, temple structure. I don't have WoW running atm, so I will link a screen shot and get the map coordinates later.
