It has been ages since the League of Arathor, centered in Stromgarde Keep, when the united human tribes came to the aid of the highborne in exchange for knowledge of magic. Stromgarde remains, but the noble humans that once inhabited it have been pushed off to one wing while the surrounding farmlands have become overtaken by a bandit ring calling themselves The Syndicate, and ogres and wild trolls have appeared in select areas.

There are also several elemental circles throughout the area and kobolds in the eastern mountains, surrounding the Alliance Refuge Point, a small gulch defending their holdings in Arathi Basin. A short distance away to the east, the Horde outpost of Hammerfall represents the same interests.
