Objectives

Dirk Thunderwood at Cenarion Hold wants you to bring him Venoxis's Venom Sac and Kurinnaxx's Venom Sac.

Description

My brother and I run the poison operations out of the manor Ravenholdt.

Lord Ravenholdt tasked me to track down a new and extremely effective poison compound that can be crafted from the venom sacs of the inhabitants of Zul'Gurub and the Ruins of Ahn'Qiraj.

There are two particularly venomous beasts residing in those blasted ruins that possess what it is that we might be looking for, <Class>. Bring me a venom sac from the beasts Kurinnaxx and Venoxis and we would be eternally grateful.

Progress

This ain't no smash and grab job, <name>. You're gonna need to bring friends.

Completion

Ravenholdt thanks you, hero! Take your pick!

Have the rewards for this quest been nerfed? My quest dose not show the one handed mace or the crossbow as rewards. I am a BM hunter, and am considering the crossbow if I can get it.

Not sure why yours doesn't show those...scroll down maybe? I got this quest last night for the 3rd time (different characters) and the rewards were still the same as they are listed here.

This sword is Very nice for a hunter... paire this with the old Vanquisher and that is 54 attack power.

Preference is 2 bonescrapers though.

The X-Bow is very nice, the increased dps over any of the 55+ Ranged, wileys, carapace spine and ancient bone bow is quite nice, add to it the + chance to hit and this makes a nice ranged wepon to take into MC for tranqing (if you don't already own a Strikers mark)

My gawd. The dagger is *also* 26 ranged attack power, along with a small amount of crit chance from the agility. Hunters: do NOT take the sword.

Yeah, the Ravenholdt is worth while for sword spec'ed warriors and rogues, but definitely not to hunters. The Thunderwood poker is by far better for a hunter. Couple it with either a bone slicing hatchet, or one of the daggers from WSG rep, slap a +15 agi enchant on each, and you'll be a seriously happy camper. That ends up being around +56 agi, which translates to around +1% to crit, +2% to dodge, +112 armor, and +112 AP. That's some seriously nice stats for pre-MC stuff.

With TBC coming out, the sword might just be the best reward for a hunter (although it probably wouldn't last long). With the AGI RAP nerf, you would get more atk power from the sword than the dagger in TBC.

Every class gets a SWEET weapon from this quest line...but then there are the mages and the locks :( Arguably, Locks have it better than the mages, as they need stam a ton, but seriously, look at the rewards, and the usefullness that every other class can possibly get out of it, then look at what the mages have to look forward to.

Doomulous Prime > Arcanite Reaper - So Warriors and Pallies can pretty much forget about the Arcanite Reaper, and spending between 500g and 700g for a weapon they can replace with one that's free (other than repair costs).

The Thunderwood Poker > Heartseeker - Again, this weapon just makes Heartseeker completely not worth while. Why spend a HUGE amount of G on heartseeker when all you have to do for this is get into a good guild. (Considering how old most servers are these days, that's not a hard task)

And if you look at almost every other weapon, several classes could justifiably use them until end game content like MC, BWL, AQ40, or Noxx when it comes out. But then we all look at the Shiv... Like I said, locks are probably not to unhappy with the Shiv. Mages on the other hand got squat. :( Poor mages.

Don't get me wrong though, I think Blizzard did a tremendous job on the rewards for this quest. They are going to save a ton of people a ton of money.

You have to realize mace spec warriors are pretty horrible.

They are better off with a sword or axe for +crit or +extra hit, the stuns will be going off very rarely.

Not that it's a bad mace, it's just not a replacement for Arcanite reaper.

yes it is.
mace spec is not great. no argument there.

But if you are tank specced, like quite a lot warriors are, and find yourself in a position where you can dps, this weapons >> arcanite reaper.

Why?
+22 stamina
+22 strength
+1% to hit.
Throw a 25 agi enchant for good measure on it and it's godly.

It has slightly less dps then the reaper (55.7 vs 53.8 base)

the 62 AP form AR gives 4.5 dps extra (total 58.3)
DP strength gives 1.7dps extra (total 57.4)

So in the end, AR has 1dps more the DP
but DP also gives +1% hit (which is excellent) AND 22 stamina (220 health points)
and like is said before; AR costs 700ish gold, while DP costs 1 ZG and 1 AQ20 run.

warlocks can turn health into mana and everyone thinks that a warlock's primary stat is stamina. its not about having a large health pool, lifetapping is only effective if you have some means of recovering the health you lose. sure, stamina helps warlocks live longer, but that goes the same for every other class. i wouldn't want that dagger on my warlock because it only has +13 spell damage. i'd rather have a dagger with only 5 stamina and +20 spell damage instead.

i don't mind people thinking that a warlock needs a ton of stamina, it makes it easier to get pvp gear.

At least for mages in order to do this quest you have be downing Venoxis, which isn't to hard. Venoxis drops a pretty nice dagger for casters. The dagger has no stam so most of our locks have stayed away from it. It normally has been going to our mages who don't have the Mageblade yet.

But I do agree. These weapon rewards are very good. My priest loved the hammer till she got Venoxis's blade and my rogue loves the slicer.

Also, I was revered with Cen Circle when I turned it in, and there was no followup.

Satyr Bow is 1 less agility and ALOT less damage. Yes, if you are not a primary ranged user and using this only for the +hit or such, I would go with the Satyr 'cause it was an easy drop to get (17% drop).

Otherwise, you might consider the Poker since it is darn close and slightly better than a Bone Slicing Hatchet (for those hunters out there). Or the sword if you don't have lightning reflexes.

You have to be level 50, in a raid group, and the gates to AQ have to be open on your server in order to complete the quest.. and, the two quest items aren't too hard to get - both drop off of the first boss in their respective instances.

When selling quest rewards, a good general rule is 1. Weapon sell more than armor, 2. 2-handed weapons sell more than 1h weapons. This is assuming all stats/quality are the same or similar.

Even PuG raids can take down these bosses. They're the easiest bosses in each 20-man instance. That's fairly casual, at least compared to doing a 40-man speedrun through BWL for the Ahn'Qiraj opening questline...
