Your mana totem may last for 2 minutes, but how often are you in the same place for that long? I guess if you're soloing then you can keep pulling mobs back to it ... but in an instance I'm betting you'll be gone long before your mana totem is ;P

I went through Da Voodoo with a lvl 70 Shaman and it was doable without any of us getting killed. I was lvl 56 Shaman.
He used the Jame map of the sunken temple, which made it simpler.
I got 11000 exp plus the trinket. Not a bad chain to do!

the trinket costs NO mana. if ur going solo anywhere and ur out of mana, mana spring totems (the one from ur spells list) will cost something over 200 mana, so basically, the trinket gives FREE MANA.i dont know, but maybe it could save ur @$$.

This sh*t does not NOT last till end game even the trinket is worthless but it's better than getting some crappy gloves you soon replace with fire resistance or a staff thatsoon gets worthless when you can get rep in the battle grounds to gtet those really good items or the staffs from Scholo or DM north overall the quest is worthless and i just went with the trinket and i never use it in raids ever

The trinket is far better than any mana spring totem you'll have the entire game, far into level 70.

On top of that, the mana spring trinket also benefits from talents.

So I'd have to say you are completely and utterly wrong, the trinket lasts well into endgame and beyond.

The only catch is that there is a good chance you'll have better trinkets someday. However, that still definately does not make this worthless. Just another option..
Definitely trinket, I did not, wish I had

As others have said, take the trinket. Unfortunately, when I did this quest, I was soloing most everything so I decided to go with the staff. Bad choice. Now at level 60, I am grouping more and the staff is looong gone. Sure wish I could go back and redo this. Consider in a raid if you have 10 or so reling on mana. That's alot of mana to spread the love.

Even though the staff and gloves look AMAZING, they will not last you until endgame.

THe trinket will. It is FAR better than your spell totem, recieves buffs from talents, has only a 3 minute cooldown and best of all IT COSTS NO MANA.

Make sure you get the totem, it will easily last you endgame and people will love you for it.

Edit:
I just tried, It's not very soloable after the first troll as you need to take out groups of 4 mobs >_<
very hard without CC as shaman.

They are the 6 mini bosses in the circle on the upper level. Each one drops a feather and the feather is lootable by everyone in the group who shares the quests. We had 2 shaman and another clsas that needed the feathers and all 3 of us were able to loot them.

If you look at this map: http://worldofwarcraft.gameamp.com/game_map/game_map/97.php the guys you need to kill are the blue dots on the upper level

If you check the wow forums you will see this totem is pretty decent. You can get 300 mana in 20 seconds vs your usual mana totem which is 300 mana in 60 seconds. And you can improve it with talents in resto to something like 350 mana in 25 seconds or something like that.

Yea it's only 1 extra spell but it's an extra 5 spells if you are in a group of casters. And it costs ZERO mana to cast. Equip it before a battle, use it, equip a different trinket for 3 minutes.

1500 extra mana for the group means that group can cause around 2500 extra damage or 5000 extra life in heals. It does help especially since it's free.

Lets see... 5 shamans in a group... 5x24 seconds = 120 seconds. 180 second reclick.

27 mana/2 seconds = 67Mp5 x 2/3 (amount of the reclick time (120/180 = 2/3) that 5 shamans have the totems down for even barring a little lag between drops) = ~44Mp5 with 5 shamans in a group.

Seems to me that a group of 5 healing shamans each dropping their totems in a cycle could have a very very sweet mana regen rate. Show me any single item that can give you 44 Mp5. In any long battle, this would be impressive.

Cooldown is 3 minutes, it does NOT stack with other mana totems, you can increase the amount of mana and duration with restoration talents, it does take a water slot so if you drop another water totem, the trinket totem will disappear.

Well, this makes things even more interesting...
Lets take a quick look at the numbers from above using full talent capabilities.
5 points Eventide = 34 second duration
5 points Imp ManaSpring = +25% effectiveness (27*125%= ~33.75 mana/2 sec = 84 Mp5)

34 seconds x 5 shamans = 170 seconds of 180 second to reclick.

So, in an ideal battle, for about 95% of the time the shamans have a nice healthy +84 Mp5 ON TOP of their own personal Mp5.

Not sure what an additional 1008 (84*12) mana per minute would do, but I think the results would be pretty impressive.
