Objectives

Collect 10 Murloc Heads from the murlocs on the Western Strand for Lieutenant Farren Orinelle in Southshore.

Description

Would you believe it, <Name>? Redpath wasn't satisfied with all the murlocs we killed--oh now, don't be modest, you had some hand in it. Now he wants me to bring proof of the dead, hacking off cold, slimy murloc heads to submit for his approval.

Progress

Did you get those heads for me, <name>?

Completion

Oh for the Love of the Light... they're dripping on the ground.

Can't stand touching those things, myself. Fish are all well and good, but when they grow legs and start walking around... Haven't eaten a fish in weeks, let me tell you, and in Southshore, that means you aren't eating much.

Must agree with Grolmag.
The Torn Fin Coastrunners had by far the best drop rate. I wouldn't call it 80%, but at least 50%.
As far as I'm concerned, the drop rate from the murlocs in the water sucked.
About 29, 72 there's a little hummock that sometimes has some copper in it. There's also one of those stilt huts nearby.
Go there. :-)

I spend about 45 min just near of southshore and only got 3 heads.

As soon as i carried on to the western strand i got the last 7 within 15-20 mins. Maybe its just pure luck, but it might be useful to some others in here

The drop rate may have been increased since TBC was released.

I did this as a Lvl 32 Rogue and finished in less than 30 minutes.

I completed this quest fairly quickly, within about an hour. Also, that was really only because there were two other people doing the same quest. I mainly stayed in the area between just beyond the Southshore pier and the murloc village on the Western Strand.

Completed as a level 30 Night Elf Hunter.

By varying my attacks to the murlocks on the shore and in the water, I was able to complete this quest fairly quickly. It helps if you're a druid so you can shapeshift and breath underwater.

While they are easier, I found horrible drop rates with these. Much better rate with the 31, 32 murlocs around 44,46

lol.

I am assuming that some of the heads get mangled during combat to the point where they just gush around and you can't easily scoop them up. Still, it's an easy quest.

I found that heads were more likely to drop from level 32 mobs than 30 or 31. Oracles also dropped heads more often for me than the others.
