Grand Widow Faerlina  

Grand Widow Faerlina is the second boss of Naxxramas's spider wing. She's an encounter based around controlling your raid's dps.

Abilities

Grand Widow Faerlina has approximately 6.7 million hit points.

She only has 3 abilities, making her a fairly simple encounter:

• Poison Bolt Volley (H) / Poison Bolt Volley - An Area of Effect attack that will hit the entire raid and deal damage over time, the damage over time component of the spell is dispellable.
• Rain of Fire (H) / Rain of Fire - Identical to the Warlock ability, she will cast this on a random player very often. It only last 6 seconds, but deal massive damage. Extremely important to move out, doubly so if you're tanking her or her adds.
• Frenzy (H) / Frenzy - Faerlina frenzies every minute or so, greatly increasing her damage and attack speed. This makes her capable of hitting a tank for 20k damage per hit.

Naxxramas Worshippers

At the beginning of the battle, they will be 4 Worshipers with Faerlina. The Worshiper are key to the battle, because of their Widow's Embrace which remove and prevent frenzies as well as lock out the nature school for 30 seconds.

Naxxramas Followers

Followers are a pretty light threat, they do not hit very hard, but they can randomly charge a target and they have an AE silence.

The Breakdown

You will need 2 tanks to defeat Faerlina as well as at least 1 priest.

You will need a Off-tank to deal with the adds and a Main Tank for Faerlina herself. Both tank should fight at a safe distance from each other, to avoid the early silence from the Followers. Killing the followers first is your best bet, since they do not have much hp, they can be killed pretty easily before they get a chance to do any real damage with their charges and silences.

Once the followers are down, the rest of the raid's dps should move to Faerlina herself, leaving the the Off tank to handle the remaining Worshipers, making sure not to kill any of them. When Faerlina is about to enrage, you need a priest to mind control one of the Worshipers (usually the one at lowest health) and bring him to the rest of the raid. When she enrages, the Mind Controlled worshipers must use Widow's Embrace - this will stop her enrage as well as prevent her from using poison bolt volley for 30 seconds. Using Widow's Embrace kills the Worshipper.

From then on, you just repeat this until Faerlina dies. Unless your dps is very low, Faerlina should die well before you run out of worshipers.

As mentioned before, it is extremely important that the tank not kill any of the worshipers while he tanks them. Once he has sufficient threat built on them, he can even stop attacking and just wait. Throughout all of this, the raid must be careful to avoid Rain of Fire and healer must be quick on dispelling the poison from Poison Bolt Volley as well as keeping the entire raid healed.

10 man Specific

The main difference here is that the 2 followers are totally missing and that the Worshiper cast Widow's Embrace's upon death. So you don't need a priest to mind control them.

The Off-Tank needs to lower the health of the Worshiper to roughly 10-15%, and when Faerlina is close her Frenzy, the Main Tank will simply taunt one of the adds off. When she does Frenzy, the raid should switch to the add and pretty much insta-kill it, which will stop Faerlina's frenzy.

Achievements

• Momma Said Knock You Out - You need to kill her without stopping any of her Frenzy. You'll either need to kite her during her frenzy or dps her hard while the healer attempt to keep your tank up. Much easier done if you greatly outgear the encounter.
• Arachnophobia - Kill Maexxna within 20 minute of killing Anub'Rekhan. Since you need to kill Faerlina to get to Maexxna, she is part of this achievement. There's no real trick here - you just need very good dps, to not waste anytime with loot and chain pull as much possible.
