Not really that hard to avoid, as he flies at a leisurely pace. Just look around once in a awhile.

If anybody is really having that much of a problem with him while farming, they can just avoid the eastern side of the Pool.

the damned dragon killed me 5-6 times today... by the time i see him its mostly too late...
and i want to farm the damn dragons for there scales.. not get 2 hit killed by a huge dragon...

kited him to stonard and as i got inside the walls he followed me and just sat by the entrance, inside the walls, evaded everything, i turned around to some 50 watching me, and then i turned back and he had gone. either lagged out or bugged. 60 troll hunter darksorrow.

That's not bugged - that's exploit detection working as it should. Kiting things to town is bad.

soloed as a lvl 60 troll hunter, seriously difficult. but i couldnt get a group and got fed up of waiting about so i had a go.

first time i got him stuck in darkshire and he despawned

second time i tried kiting him around stonard, thinking the npc's would help me along. i noticed that if he was in combat with multiple mobs he would start casting sleep, if i was really unlucky he would cast it on me. died.

third time i kited him through burning stepps, as i was entering searing gorge through blackrock mountain he bugged and despawned on the door. got him to under 20% health too

so fourth time i planned a kite route through duskwood, through westfall, into elwynn, through the bottom corner of lakeshire and back into duskwood so i could kite him for as long as i needed. he died as i passed the tower of Azora. was quite nice being cheered on by alliance guys :D sos to anyone who got killed though.

all in all it took over 20 mins to kill him on the fourth kite, but the satisfaction was worth it i think :D

I was farming draginscales when a group of lvl 60's came and took him out.

I was so sad I couldn't skin him. Need Finkles skinner! Probably would have just been leather like the other mobs :)

That's the whole point.. Why would they want to encourage the killing of a named mob INVOLVED IN A POPULAR QUEST CHAIN.

When you kill a big elite, and you get a crap drop, it's so you don't kill him and make people wait for the respawn to finish a quest.

Putting big elites in the game without giving him a decent drop is such a waste. For the same reason i don't run ST anymore, that whole area just seems like a work in progress. Until they make lvl 62 elites start dropping atleast a blue item just stay clear.

Went over near the temple to hunt for green scales off the elite d'kin that roam around there. Being a 48 hunter with 48 bear pet, I wasn't having much problem taking them one at a time and had already killed about 4 and was most of the way through #5 when I suddenly get hit from behind for 900+. I spin in time to see a dragon hit me two more times, for 900+, then for 1300+ before dying. I wandered back there and he was no where to be found.

That's one BAAAAD drago.

If you cant see a monsters level, some addons will display the last level you did see as the monsters level. So since the dragon is lvl 62 elite and your lvl 45 you see skulls, but a addon makes it show as 41 elite, like the other dragonkin around there.

Aggroed me, a 45 Hunter. Results were predictable.

Hit me with "Somus's Corrosive Acid Breath" for 221 and followed up with a 1420 hit. He sleeped my pet and I died, incurring an automatic 10% durability loss on items.

Lesson learned. Funny thing was, I swear I conned him as being a green lv41.
